Relics in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen use a two-stage loot system: you find unidentified spoils in Norgan, then pay Jiera in the Norgandian Settlement to appraise them with Rift Crystals. The appraisal can reveal gear with variable statistics, bonuses, special effects, and sometimes vocation skills. Your vocation and your main Pawn’s vocation make matching weapons more likely, and buffs can narrow the result, but neither mechanic guarantees a particular item. Item level usually follows your progression and the depth of the map, with occasional higher-level or rarer drops possible in advanced areas.
What the Relic system does
Relics are not ordinary equipment that appears fully identified in a chest. The expansion’s Relic loop starts with an unidentified spoil. Until you take that spoil to the Norgandian Settlement and have Jiera appraise it, you do not know its final weapon or armor properties.
Appraisal is the point at which the item’s usable information is revealed. Guide coverage describes outcomes that can vary in statistics, bonuses, special effects, and, in some cases, unique or upgraded vocation skills. Those descriptions establish a randomized appraisal concept, not a confirmed list of every affix or a promise that a specific skill can appear on a particular item.

How to obtain and identify a Relic
1. Search Norgan for unidentified spoils
Explore Norgan and defeat its enemies while looking for Relic spoils. The currently available guide reporting lists enemies, chests, general exploration, and buried finds located with Freki as sources. That is a practical list of reported sources, not a developer-published, exhaustive drop table. Search normally, investigate side paths, and use Freki when the game indicates that buried treasure may be nearby.
At this stage, the item is a potential result, not a finished weapon. Treat the spoil as inventory until appraisal rather than assuming its type, level, or vocation.
2. Carry the spoil back to the Norgandian Settlement
Unidentified spoils occupy inventory space and contribute to the carrying weight of the Arisen or the Pawn carrying them, according to the guide’s description. If your party is already encumbered, decide whether the expected value of another find is worth the slower movement and reduced carrying capacity. You can also have a Pawn carry an item, but that does not identify it or remove the need for appraisal.
3. Pay Jiera in Rift Crystals
At the Norgandian Settlement, speak with Jiera and select the appraisal service. The fee is paid in Rift Crystals. The exact cost by spoil tier has not been published in the available coverage, so check the amount shown in the game before confirming each transaction.

Because Rift Crystals also support Pawn hiring and other uses, appraise selectively when your balance is limited. A useful approach is to identify items that match your current vocation, your main Pawn’s vocation, or a slot where your existing equipment is weakest before spending on less relevant spoils.
4. Read the revealed properties before equipping
After appraisal, inspect the item’s level, core statistics, bonuses, effects, and any vocation-related skill information displayed by the game. Compare it with what you already use rather than judging it by rarity language alone. A higher-level item is not automatically better for every build if its bonuses favor a different weapon role or play style.
The public guide warns that complete affix behavior and reroll rules are not established. Do not discard a useful item on the assumption that it can be rerolled later, and do not keep paying for appraisals expecting a documented pity result.
What changes the odds of a particular drop?

Vocation weighting is a probability bias
Director Kento Kinoshita described the system this way: “For that reason, we’ve designed an algorithm that makes Relics associated with weapons corresponding to the player’s vocation and their main Pawn’s vocation more likely to appear.” The important word is more likely. The algorithm biases the pool toward those vocations; it does not turn a random appraisal into a guaranteed class-specific reward.

If you are targeting a weapon for your Arisen, setting your own vocation to the relevant role can improve the odds. The same principle applies to your main Pawn. This is a targeting strategy, not a switch that removes unrelated weapons from the pool.
Buffs can narrow the result
Kinoshita also said players can use buffs to narrow outcomes, using a Fighter’s sword as an example. When pursuing a specific weapon family, apply the relevant buff before the game’s reward is determined if the in-game description indicates that it affects Relic results. Because the available explanation does not publish buff values or a complete interaction table, use the displayed effect as your authority and avoid treating a buff as a guarantee.
Progression and map depth set the general level range
Relic levels generally track your progression and how deeply you have travelled into the map. Kinoshita explicitly cautioned against a strict one-level-per-area rule: an item one level higher, or a rarer item, can sometimes appear after you reach a more advanced area and defeat its enemies.

Are Relic stats random?
They are variable at appraisal according to the guide’s account. Two spoils that look similar before identification can therefore reveal different statistics, bonuses, or effects. Some appraisals may also expose special or upgraded vocation skills.
What is not established is the complete range of possible affixes, the exact weighting of each bonus, whether every item has multiple independent rolls, or whether a failed result can be rerolled under a known rule. Until those mechanics are documented in-game or by Capcom, record the properties you actually receive and judge each result on its displayed numbers.
Relics should complement your combat decisions rather than replace them. Kinoshita emphasized that a good Relic provides an advantage while player skill remains important. Positioning, timing, vocation knowledge, and party coordination still determine whether the equipment’s advantage matters.
Relics versus ordinary loot and Pawn behavior
It is easy to confuse the Relic system with the normal ways Pawns interact with the world. They are separate mechanics.

Use “Go!” to help a Pawn reach a nearby chest or gathering point, but do not interpret that command as a Relic-finding bonus. Likewise, a Hawker or Logistician can change how ordinary items are managed without changing the probability model Kinoshita described for Relics.

- Set a target. Decide whether you need an upgrade for the Arisen, your main Pawn, or a particular weapon role before spending Rift Crystals.
- Check your vocations. When the game’s rules and your current build allow it, align the Arisen or main Pawn vocation with the weapon family you want to make more likely.
- Use a relevant buff. Apply a buff that the game identifies as narrowing Relic outcomes, understanding that it changes probability rather than guaranteeing the result.
- Prioritize high-value opportunities. Appraise spoils that could replace a weak equipment slot or fit your target vocation first. Keep enough Rift Crystals for Pawn hiring and other services you still need.
- Compare the identified item directly. Check level, statistics, bonuses, effects, and skills against your equipped gear. Do not assume that a rarer label or a higher level wins in every build.
- Keep useful alternatives. If storage allows, retain an item that benefits another vocation instead of immediately selling it; a future party configuration may make it valuable.
- Reassess as you progress. Since level generally follows progression and map depth, revisit your appraisal priorities after reaching a more advanced region.
What is still unknown
Public information currently supports the broad loop and the probability biases, but it does not provide a complete technical specification. The following details should be treated as unknown rather than filled in with guesses:
- Exact drop percentages for individual weapons, armor pieces, rarity bands, or sources.
- A complete color or tier chart and a definitive chest or enemy drop table.
- Pity rules, guaranteed-vocation thresholds, or a maximum number of failed appraisals.
- Exact Rift Crystal prices for every appraisal tier.
- A full list of possible statistics, affixes, bonuses, special effects, and vocation skills.
- Confirmed reroll, reset, or duplicate-protection rules.
Any guide that presents those figures as universal should be checked against the version of the game you are playing and the information shown by the game itself. The available pre-launch guide material was last updated September 1, before the October 9 expansion launch, so its detailed claims should be read as provisional descriptions of the loop rather than a final data table.

Expansion, platforms, and package details
Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as a paid expansion for October 9, 2026, listing PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement says the Switch 2 version packages the main game and the expansion together. Store listings, regional availability, and package contents can change, so verify the edition and included content on your platform before purchasing.
The reported sales figure of 14 million units refers to the Dragon’s Dogma series cumulatively as of March 31, 2026. It is not a sales figure for Dark Arisen or for an individual game, and it does not change how Relic appraisal works.
Bottom line for farming Relics
Explore Norgan, collect unidentified spoils, return to Jiera, and spend Rift Crystals on the appraisals that matter to your build. Aligning the Arisen or main Pawn with a desired vocation and using an appropriate buff can improve the odds, while deeper progression generally raises the level of available gear. The system remains probabilistic: no public information guarantees a weapon, publishes complete odds, or defines every bonus. Treat each appraisal as a chance to improve your equipment, then let the item’s actual displayed properties—not assumptions about a hidden table—decide whether it is worth using.
