The End of the Sun is listed as requiring 9.2 GB of installed storage on Xbox Series X|S. That figure appears in the Xbox game overview as “HDD Space Required.” It is the best console-specific number currently available, but it should not be read as a promise that the downloadable package will always be exactly 9.2 GB.
The indexed Xbox overview identifies the game as an Xbox Series X|S title with a November 4, 2026 release date. Because that date is still ahead of October 18, 2026, the final package, patches and store metadata can change before release.
The short answer: 9.2 GB on Xbox Series X|S
Plan to have at least 9.2 GB of free space before installing The End of the Sun on an Xbox Series X or Series S. The number comes from the XboxAchievements game overview, whose field is labelled “HDD Space Required.” In practical terms, it is a listed installed-space requirement for the Xbox version.
Leave additional room rather than trying to match the figure byte for byte. A console may need temporary working space while downloading, unpacking or applying an update, and the installed size can change when the developer ships patches. No source currently publishes an independent Xbox download-package byte count or a history of patch sizes.

What the 9.2 GB figure actually tells you
It is listed installed space, not a guaranteed download size
“HDD Space Required” is a database label. It is safest to interpret 9.2 GB as the amount of storage the listed Xbox build is expected to occupy after installation, not as a guarantee that the file you download will be exactly 9.2 GB. Download compression, decompression files and later updates can make the transfer size and the final footprint different.
The number can change before or after launch
The Xbox listing is current metadata rather than a permanent specification. The indexed overview places release on November 4, 2026, while the current date is October 18, 2026. A launch build could be larger or smaller than the pre-release listing, and post-launch patches can add or replace files. Check the Xbox product page again when you install if your console is close to its storage limit.
It applies to both Series consoles
The listing describes the game as an Xbox Series X|S title and the Microsoft Store result labels it “Optimized for XBOX Series X|S.” The published 9.2 GB figure is therefore the console figure to use for both Series X and Series S. There is no separate Series X and Series S storage number in the available listing.

If your console has substantially more than 9.2 GB free, the installation should fit without a storage change. If you have only a few gigabytes available, free extra room first. A simple planning rule is to treat 9.2 GB as the minimum listed footprint and keep several additional gigabytes available for the download process and future updates. The exact safety margin is not specified by the listing, so it would be misleading to promise that a particular amount beyond 9.2 GB will always be enough.
Check storage on Xbox Series X|S
- Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide.
- Open Profile & system, then choose Settings.
- Go to System and open Storage devices.
- Read the available space on the internal drive and any attached storage shown there.
Menu wording can change with Xbox system updates. If your console uses a slightly different label, look for the System storage screen that shows free and used capacity.

Make room without deleting everything
- Open My games & apps from the Xbox dashboard.
- Select Manage, then use the storage or free-space options to sort installed games and apps by size.
- Remove games you can reinstall from your library, or move them to compatible external storage where appropriate.
- Keep saved games and account data synchronized before uninstalling. Reinstalling a game is different from deleting a cloud-synchronized save, but you should still confirm that synchronization has completed.
- Restart the installation after the console reports enough free space.
Do not remove a game you cannot re-download unless you have confirmed its ownership, disc access or backup. The goal is to clear space safely, not simply to reach a number on the storage meter.
Xbox and PC storage compared
Steam lists The End of the Sun with 10 GB of available space for both its minimum and recommended Windows requirements and recommends an SSD. That is close to, but not directly interchangeable with, the Xbox figure: 9.2 GB comes from an Xbox database “HDD Space Required” field, while 10 GB is a PC system requirement published on the Steam listing.
| Platform | Listed storage figure | What the figure represents | Other relevant detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | 9.2 GB | XboxAchievements “HDD Space Required” field | Xbox Series X|S title; Microsoft Store result says “Optimized for XBOX Series X|S” |
| Windows PC | 10 GB available space | Steam minimum and recommended storage requirement | Steam recommends an SSD |
The one-gigabyte difference does not prove that the Xbox build is smaller. The figures come from different listing fields, platforms and measurement conventions, and there is no controlled cross-platform test or published Xbox package-size measurement. Use 9.2 GB when planning the console installation and 10 GB when checking a Windows PC against the Steam requirement.
What kind of game is it?
Steam describes The End of the Sun as a first-person adventure and exploration game in a Slavic fantasy setting. The listing identifies The End of the Sun Forge as both developer and publisher and gives the PC release date as January 29, 2025.
The official store description calls it “a mystery-filled first-person adventure and exploration game set in a Slavic fantasy world.” That context matters for storage planning: this is a single named game installation, not a separately listed multiplayer client or a bundle whose components need to be counted individually. The 9.2 GB number still remains a listing estimate and can change with updates or the final Xbox build.

Is the game available on Xbox Series X and Series S?
The indexed Xbox overview lists Xbox Series X|S, and the Microsoft Store result identifies the title as optimized for those consoles. That indicates a current-generation Xbox release rather than an Xbox One-only listing. The same indexed overview gives November 4, 2026 as the Xbox release date.

Since October 18, 2026 is before that date, availability and metadata are not yet final. A store listing can be updated before launch, and the release build may receive a day-one patch. If you are pre-installing, check the console’s download information and available-space warning again on or near release day.
Do you need an expansion card for this game?
No, not for this game alone. A 9.2 GB listed requirement is small compared with the capacity of the internal drive in either Series console, so an expansion card is optional if you have that much room available. The accessory becomes a library-management decision when your console contains many large games, not a special requirement of The End of the Sun.
When an expansion card is useful
- You regularly keep more games installed than the internal drive can hold.
- You want to move or play compatible current-generation games without repeatedly uninstalling them.
- You prefer a dedicated expansion card instead of rotating games through USB storage.
Seagate documents an Xbox Series X|S-compatible Game Drive storage product, but the available information does not establish a particular capacity, price, SKU or current stock level for this title. Choose capacity based on your whole library and budget, not on the 9.2 GB requirement by itself.
Expansion card versus USB storage
For a small installation such as this one, ordinary free internal space is the simplest option. USB storage can be useful for storing or moving games, but current-generation titles may have to be moved back to the console’s internal storage or a compatible expansion card to run. Verify the storage device’s Xbox compatibility and the game’s platform requirements before buying hardware.

What if installation says there is not enough space?
The storage screen shows less free space than expected
Open Settings > System > Storage devices and check every listed drive. The console’s advertised capacity is not the same as usable capacity because system software reserves part of the drive. Also check whether a pending update or another queued download is consuming space.
The download stops near the end
Pause other downloads, cancel obsolete items in the queue and restart the console if the storage meter has not refreshed. Then verify free space again before resuming. A failed transfer does not establish that the game needs more than 9.2 GB; temporary download files or an update can be responsible.
The game installs but an update fails
Updates require working room in addition to the installed files. Free more space than the original listing requires, retry the update and check Xbox network status if the error persists. Because no patch-size history is published, there is no reliable fixed amount of extra space to quote for every future update.
The listing and console show different numbers
Use the console’s current installation prompt as the immediate operational guide, while treating 9.2 GB as the published listing figure. Store metadata can be revised, and the console may display a rounded value or include update data that was not present when the database entry was recorded.

- Check free space in Settings > System > Storage devices.
- Reserve at least the listed 9.2 GB for the game itself.
- Leave additional working room so the console can download and apply files without filling the drive.
- Install only after confirming the title is the Xbox Series X|S version shown in the store.
- After installation, open the game’s manage screen to see its actual current size and any separately listed add-ons or updates.
This approach avoids treating a pre-release database value as a guaranteed final package size while still giving you a concrete number for planning.
Bottom line for Series X|S owners
Use 9.2 GB as the current listed storage requirement for The End of the Sun on Xbox Series X|S. It should fit without an expansion card if your internal drive has that space plus room for installation overhead. The figure is metadata labelled “HDD Space Required,” not a guaranteed download size, and the November 4, 2026 Xbox release is still in the future as of October 18, 2026. Recheck the store listing and the console’s own installation prompt at launch, especially if your available storage is tight.
