Recent high-performance mini PCs in published reviews draw roughly 70–92 watts from the wall during sustained or full-load testing. A system may briefly exceed 100 W, while a unit such as the Beelink SER9 has been measured at just over 80 W during high processing stress. These are model-specific review readings, not a universal specification for every high-performance mini PC.

The number you see depends on what is being measured, the workload, the computer’s configuration and whether peripherals are included. CPU package power, the rating printed on a power adapter and electricity entering the complete system are three different figures.

The practical wattage range

For planning purposes, a high-performance mini PC commonly falls in the 70–92 W whole-system range under a sustained or full workload in the examples available from recent reviews. One tested model produced brief readings above 100 W. The figures come from separate reviews with different hardware, test software and measurement conditions, so they should not be treated as a controlled ranking or a category-wide average.

Mini PC Reported workload Whole-system input reading Other power figure What the number means
Geekom Mini IT15 Full system load Around 92 W Processor limit: 64 W short term, 33 W continuously The 92 W figure is wall-level system input; the processor limits are not total computer consumption.
Asus NUC 15 Pro+ Continuous load Around 71 W, with brief peaks above 100 W Peak and sustained readings were reported separately Short bursts can be materially higher than the continuous level.
Beelink SER9 High processing stress Just over 80 W 100 W adapter The adapter’s 100 W capacity is higher than ordinary measured draw and leaves headroom for demand spikes.

Notebookcheck reported the Mini IT15 and Asus NUC 15 Pro+ figures in 2025 reviews and the SER9 result in a 2024 review. Because the tests were not performed as one standardized comparison, a lower wattage in one row does not prove that model is more energy-efficient. To compare efficiency, measure performance and power under the same workload and configuration.

What “under load” actually describes

“Under load” is not a single test mode. A mini PC can draw different amounts of power during a short CPU benchmark, a long all-core stress test, mixed CPU-and-GPU work or a game. The processor may boost to a higher clock for seconds, then settle at a lower sustained limit as temperature and firmware controls take effect.

Sustained CPU stress

An all-core CPU test keeps processor threads busy for an extended period. It is useful for estimating a worst-case productivity or compiling workload, but it may not represent normal office use. A sustained reading is the level the system can maintain after the initial boost period, not the highest number a meter catches during startup.

Combined CPU and graphics work

When the integrated or discrete graphics engine is active at the same time as the CPU, both subsystems draw from the system’s power budget. Video rendering, 3D work and some creator applications can therefore produce a different result from a CPU-only test, even when the processor model is identical.

Gaming

Games vary widely by frame rate, resolution, graphics settings and scene complexity. The SER9 review describes gaming as more demanding than a slower mini PC, but that observation is not a universal gaming wattage figure. A game that is GPU-limited, a menu screen and a CPU-heavy simulation can each produce a different wall reading.

Short peaks versus a sustained level

Short-term boost behavior explains why the Asus NUC 15 Pro+ was reported at around 71 W under continuous load yet briefly exceeded 100 W. A power supply must tolerate those transients even though the computer may spend most of a long task below the peak. Record both values when sizing an adapter, UPS or power budget.

CPU power is not the same as power at the wall

Processor telemetry measures energy used by the CPU package or a defined processor domain. A wall meter measures the input to the external adapter and the mini PC together. The wall figure also includes memory, storage, motherboard voltage regulators, cooling fans, networking, USB devices and conversion losses in the adapter.

The Geekom Mini IT15 illustrates the distinction. Its review lists a processor limit of 64 W for short-term operation and 33 W continuously, while the complete system reached around 92 W under full load. Those numbers are not contradictory: the processor is only one part of the computer, and the wall measurement includes the rest of the system and power-conversion overhead.

Software monitoring remains useful for diagnosing why power changes. If CPU package power rises while the wall reading stays nearly flat, another component or an adapter-efficiency limit may be influencing the result. Software telemetry cannot, by itself, tell you how much electricity the household outlet is supplying.

Adapter wattage is a capacity rating, not consumption

A 100 W or 120 W label on an adapter states how much power the adapter is designed to provide safely under its rated conditions. It does not mean the mini PC continuously consumes that amount. The Beelink SER9 review measured just over 80 W during high processing stress while describing its 100 W adapter as sufficient.

Do not estimate your electricity use by reading the adapter label. The computer may draw far less at idle, approach the rating during a demanding workload or briefly spike while boosting. Replacing an adapter with a higher-capacity unit also does not automatically increase consumption; the system takes the power it needs, provided voltage, connector and safety requirements are correct.

How to measure your own mini PC at the wall

A plug-in electricity usage monitor, often called a watt meter, is the most direct way to answer how many watts your particular system uses. It measures the adapter and computer together, which is the relevant figure for an outlet, UPS or household energy calculation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Connect the meter to the wall outlet. Use a properly rated plug-in meter and plug the mini PC’s power adapter into the meter. Do not place the monitor, speakers or other accessories on the same measured connection unless you want a workstation total.
  2. Record the baseline. With the operating system idle and the display at the state you normally use, note the steady reading. Let background updates finish first so the baseline is not inflated by temporary activity.
  3. Choose one defined workload. For example, run a sustained CPU stress test, a repeatable combined CPU/GPU task or a specific game sequence. Write down the application, graphics settings, performance mode and duration.
  4. Measure the initial peak. Watch for the highest value during launch and the first boost period. A meter with peak capture is helpful; otherwise, observe the display closely and repeat the run to check that the value is repeatable.
  5. Measure the sustained reading. Continue long enough for clocks and cooling to settle, then record the stable range rather than a single fluctuating instant. Keep the duration consistent when comparing two runs.
  6. Document the setup. Note the mini PC model, processor and graphics configuration, memory and storage, power mode, connected USB devices, network activity and whether a display is included. These details explain differences that a watt figure alone cannot.
  7. Repeat unusual results. If a reading is unexpectedly high, disconnect nonessential USB hardware, check for a background task and run the same workload again. If the result remains high, verify that the meter is measuring only the adapter and not an entire power strip.

CNX Software has described using a wall power meter in a mini PC review. The same approach lets you measure your own unit rather than assuming a review sample’s result applies to your configuration.

How to compare two mini PCs fairly

Wattage comparisons become misleading when the measurement points or workloads differ. Use the following checklist before drawing a conclusion:

  • Measurement point: compare wall input with wall input, or CPU package power with CPU package power. Do not put one of each in the same table.
  • Workload: match CPU-only, combined CPU/GPU or gaming activity. A different application can change the balance between the processor and graphics engine.
  • Time basis: label each value as a startup peak, a short-term boost or a sustained reading.
  • Configuration: memory capacity, storage devices, cooling profile and firmware settings all affect draw.
  • Peripherals: USB storage, external graphics, displays and powered hubs can add to the wall reading. Keep them outside the measurement when comparing the mini PC itself.
  • Performance: lower watts do not automatically mean better efficiency. A slower system may use less power simply because it completes less work. Compare the time or performance achieved at the measured power.

The three published examples cannot establish a representative average for all high-performance mini PCs. They are useful reference points only when their model and test conditions remain attached to the number.

What power use means for common workloads

Office work and browsing

Light tasks normally do not keep every CPU core and graphics unit busy, so they will generally sit below a full-load result. Browser tabs, video calls, software updates and connected storage can create brief increases. Use your own idle and typical-work readings if you are estimating daily energy use; a stress-test number describes a demanding upper condition, not an entire workday.

Long rendering, compiling or data processing

These workloads can resemble sustained CPU stress. The relevant figure is the settled wall reading after the initial boost, together with how long the task runs. If the mini PC repeatedly reaches its thermal or power limits, performance may stabilize below the first-minute result.

Gaming sessions

Gaming demand depends on the title and settings. Capture a repeatable section of gameplay and report both the observed peak and the sustained range. Include the display separately if you want to know the console-like setup’s total demand rather than the mini PC alone.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Calling an adapter label the PC’s draw

Correct this by measuring at the wall. The label is a maximum supply capability, not a continuous-use promise.

Quoting CPU limits as complete-system consumption

Identify whether a number comes from processor telemetry or an outlet meter. The Mini IT15’s 33 W continuous processor limit and around-92 W full-system result demonstrate why the distinction matters.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Using a peak as if it were an average

Report the peak and sustained readings separately. A brief value above 100 W on the Asus NUC 15 Pro+ does not mean it consumes more than 100 W throughout a long task.

Comparing reviews as if they were a lab test

Different reviewers may use different meters, firmware, ambient conditions, operating modes and applications. Treat the Geekom, Asus and Beelink figures as independent reference observations, not a controlled efficiency ranking.

Including the whole workstation accidentally

Displays, speakers, docks and USB devices can materially change a wall reading. Plug only the mini PC adapter into the meter when the question is the computer’s consumption.

How to report a useful power result

A clear result gives readers enough context to reproduce it. State the exact model, the measurement point, the workload, the run length, the operating mode and the connected equipment. Use wording such as “around 92 W at the wall during full system load” rather than “the CPU uses 92 W.” If a review reports a short-term peak, identify it as a peak; if it reports a continuous level, identify it as sustained.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For the reviewed high-performance examples, a concise but accurate summary is: around 71 W sustained for the Asus NUC 15 Pro+, with brief readings above 100 W; around 80 W during high processing stress for the Beelink SER9; and around 92 W at full system load for the Geekom Mini IT15. Those figures describe the cited tests, not a guarantee for your mini PC.

Bottom line for buyers and upgraders

Expect roughly 70–92 W at the wall under heavy, sustained use from the recent high-performance mini PCs represented here, and allow for brief peaks above 100 W on some models. Use the adapter rating only to confirm that the supply has adequate capacity. For a trustworthy answer about your own machine, measure the adapter at the wall, separate peak from sustained power and document the exact workload and peripherals. That method turns a broad wattage question into a result you can use for energy planning, adapter selection and fair model comparisons.
