Amazon Prime costs AU$9.99 per month or AU$79 per year in Australia, and Prime Video is included with the broader membership. If you want ad-free streaming, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) reports an extra AU$2.99 per month, making the monthly total AU$12.98 before any separately priced Channels, rentals or purchases.
What does the Prime Video price include?
The advertised price is for Amazon Prime, not a standalone video-only plan. Prime Video is one benefit in a membership bundle that also includes delivery, music, reading, gaming and shopping benefits. Amazon says members can watch on a TV, tablet, mobile device or web browser. See Amazon Australia’s Prime membership page for the local service details.

The annual option has the lower stated cost if you expect to keep Prime for a full year and can pay upfront. The comparison excludes any trial period or special offer. Both prices are for the broader Prime membership with Prime Video included, as listed in Amazon’s 2026 announcement.

How much extra is Prime Video without ads?
The ACCC says Australian subscribers seeking ad-free streaming had to pay an additional AU$2.99 per month after ads were introduced in July 2024. Added to monthly Prime at AU$9.99, that is AU$12.98 per month, before any other add-ons. The ACCC’s figure is specific to Australia; do not apply prices or plan names from other countries.
The ACCC’s release discusses allegations and court proceedings about how ads were introduced. Those are allegations, not a finding that a court has found Amazon liable. Read the ACCC’s release for its account of the proceeding and the Australian prices.

What can cost extra?
The membership fee does not necessarily cover everything visible in Prime Video. Some titles are separately priced to rent or buy, and Channels are add-on subscriptions. The available information does not establish a complete current Australian Channels price list, so check the displayed Australian checkout price for each Channel or title before paying. Amazon’s Prime page describes the included membership benefit; it does not make separately priced content part of that fee.

- Open Amazon Australia’s Prime membership page and review the current monthly and annual options.
- At signup, check whether your account is eligible for the advertised 30-day new-customer trial and which price and billing interval will apply when it ends.
- If you want ad-free viewing, confirm the add-on and total monthly amount shown for your account.
- Before watching a particular title or joining a Channel, check whether it is included or carries a separate rental, purchase or subscription price.
Amazon’s Australia-specific pricing announcement is dated July 2026, while the ACCC release provides the cited Australian ad-free surcharge. Promotions and checkout terms can change, so the live Australian signup and account checkout are the final reference for what you will be charged.
