A first-month discount changes the first invoice, not the normal cost of ownership. The 4Netplayers 16-slot example includes a 50% first-month discount; its displayed 6.88 including tax is unusually low compared with the other 16-player figures. Confirm the undiscounted second-month price, the currency, and whether tax is already included. For any host, calculate the first-year total using the renewal price rather than the headline promotion.

Do not buy a 16-slot label alone. Two hosts can sell the same nominal capacity with very different CPU shares, memory limits, storage performance, and network policies. If the provider publishes only slots and a monthly price, ask for the underlying resource limits.
Hardware requirements: what is known and what is not

How to apply the baseline to a hosted plan
- Prefer an SSD-backed plan with at least 30 GB of free space for the world, logs, updates, and backups. A provider that counts backups against the same quota needs more headroom.
- For four to six players, look for a clearly stated six-core/12-thread class CPU and 16 GB RAM, or ask whether those resources are shared.
- For a full 16-player group, target the stronger eight-core/16-thread class guidance and confirm that the host does not throttle CPU during busy periods.
- Use the network figure as a planning reference, not a promise of internet quality. The xgamingserver guide’s 2 Mbps per player implies about 8-12 Mbps upload for four to six players; it is a third-party estimate.
If a sales page claims dramatically higher requirements, such as 24-48 GB RAM and 500+ Mbps upload, ask the provider for reproducible measurements and the game version tested. The conflicting claim is not enough evidence to justify paying for that tier.
Enshrouded 1.0: the date and what it changes for hosting
Enshrouded 1.0 is scheduled for October 15, 2026, according to statements from Survival Servers and RespawnHost. A separate headline giving October 6 conflicts with those dates and should not be used for planning.
Automatic update path
When automatic updates are enabled, the server updates on its first start or restart after the 1.0 build reaches Steam. That means a server left running continuously may not change until the next restart, depending on the host’s update process.

Manual update path
- Before launch day, make a fresh copy of the world/save using the host’s backup or download function.
- In the host control panel, verify that automatic updates are enabled. If they are disabled, schedule the provider’s “Update & Restart” action for launch day.
- Stop or restart the server so it can download the 1.0 files. Wait for the control panel or console to report a completed update before inviting players.
- Update every player’s game through Steam. A client still on the previous build will receive a version-mismatch error.
- Connect with one test account first, inspect the world, and check logs before the whole group joins.
Save compatibility and other unknowns
There is no confirmed official statement in the available information guaranteeing that every pre-1.0 world will carry over unchanged. Backing up before the update is therefore essential. - Count concurrent players, not members in your chat group. Size for the highest number online at once, then leave some capacity for events.
- Set a currency and billing target. Compare euro listings with euro listings and dollar listings with dollar listings. Decide whether monthly or pay-per-use billing matches your schedule.
- Request resource details. Ask for allocated CPU threads, RAM, SSD quota, backup space, and network limits. Slot count by itself is insufficient.
- Check the renewal invoice. Record the normal monthly price, tax treatment, setup fees, and the date a promotion ends.
- Confirm 1.0 readiness. Look for the October 15, 2026 build, automatic-update controls, and a documented manual update procedure.
- Test support before paying for a long term. Ask how to restore a world, download a backup, roll back a failed update, and migrate away.

The server is too expensive after the first month
Compare the renewal invoice with the promotional headline. If the difference is large, move to a plan whose regular price fits your budget or use pay-per-use billing for occasional sessions. Keep a local world backup before moving providers.
Players see a version mismatch after 1.0
Confirm that the host completed its update and restart, then update every Steam client. Check that the server is not still running an older process after a failed restart.

Lag appears when the group grows
Check CPU allocation and memory usage before adding more slots. A plan that technically allows 16 players may not provide the eight-core/16-thread class suggested by the low-confidence 16-player guidance. Reduce the player cap or move to a plan with explicitly higher resources.
The world does not load after an update
Stop joining attempts, preserve the current files, and restore the pre-update backup on a test instance if the host supports one. Because official save carryover is not confirmed here, do not overwrite the only copy of the pre-1.0 world.
