A typical managed V Rising server costs about $5 to $20 per month on the provider listings checked on October 14, 2026. Small servers for roughly 8 players are near the lower end; plans for 16 to 32 players, heavier saves, or modding capacity cost more. Self-hosting removes the recurring hosting bill, but you supply the computer, storage, network connection, maintenance and electricity. The final price depends mainly on player slots, CPU and memory needs, storage policy, currency and whether you prepay.

Typical V Rising hosting prices

There is no single official price for a dedicated server. Commercial hosts set rates by capacity and service level, and the figures below are vendor listings rather than an independently audited market average. The pages did not state the year of each price; they were observed on October 14, 2026, so verify the checkout total before paying.

Provider listing Advertised plan Capacity or service detail Price and currency Important qualification
Supercraft Entry plan Up to 8 players $5.99 per month Prepayment discounts are shown for 3-, 6- and 12-month terms; discount amounts are not stated.
Supercraft Mid plan Up to 16 players $11.99 per month Pricing is presented as capacity-based rather than RAM-based.
Supercraft Larger plan Up to 32 players $19.99 per month Longer-term prepayment discounts are available according to the listing.
GameHostBros Starting plan Capacity not stated in the cited listing $11.99 per month The listing calls this a starting price.
GameHostBros Premium modding plan Capacity not stated $19.99 per month Advertised as a premium plan for modding.
DatHost Starting plan 60 player slots and unlimited usage, according to the listing From €6.90 per month Euro pricing; your card issuer may convert the charge and add a foreign-exchange fee.

Third-party comparison pages mention entry prices of $2 and $2.50 per month, but those figures could not be matched to a provider’s own pricing page. Treat them as unverified leads rather than a reliable budget.

What actually changes the monthly bill

Player slots

Slots are usually the clearest pricing lever. A private world for a few friends can fit an entry tier, while a public community needs a larger allowance. Supercraft explicitly says its pricing scales by player capacity instead of using RAM as the primary tier label. Do not buy a plan solely because its RAM number looks high: confirm the permitted concurrent players and whether inactive accounts count toward the limit.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

CPU, memory and save workload

Resources still matter even when a host markets plans by slots. Supercraft identifies CPU as important during combat-heavy events, RAM as relevant to large castles and mods, and storage input/output as important when the game saves frequently. A plan that works for a lightly populated vanilla world may struggle when many players build large bases, fight simultaneously or run modifications.

Storage policy

Check whether disk space is included in the advertised tier. PowerupStack is cited as billing storage separately from its base plan, demonstrating why a low headline price can rise after adding a disk allowance. Ask for the included capacity, backup space, snapshot limits and any overage rate before ordering. Frequent saves make fast storage useful even when the world file itself is not large.

Commitment length

Supercraft shows discounts for paying three, six or twelve months in advance. A prepaid term can reduce the effective monthly rate, but it ties up cash and may make a refund harder if the provider’s terms restrict cancellations. Compare the total paid today with the month-to-month total, not just the displayed percentage.

Trials, refunds and currency

DatHost lists a 14-day money-back guarantee. That is a refund policy, not proof that every feature or performance characteristic will meet your needs; read exclusions and the process for requesting a refund. A separate reference to a two-day free trial was not attributed to an identifiable provider, so it should not be treated as a standard market offer. Euro plans also introduce exchange-rate variation for customers billed in dollars or another currency.

How much to budget by server size

Use the following as a planning range rather than a promise of a particular configuration. The figures are anchored to the published tiers above.

Use case Reasonable starting budget What to verify
Small private group, up to about 8 players About $5–$7 per month on a USD entry tier; €6.90 is a published euro starting point from one host. Concurrent-slot limit, included storage, backups and CPU allocation.
Friends or community, around 16 players About $12 per month on the cited 16-player tier. Whether combat events, large castles and mods require a higher resource plan.
Larger group, around 32 players About $20 per month on the cited 32-player tier. Peak CPU, memory headroom, save I/O and support response.
Mod-focused or premium service About $20 per month on the cited premium modding listing. Which mods are supported, who installs updates and whether mod-related support is included.
Public or unusually large community Often above the common $5–$20 range. Exact slot count, dedicated resources, bandwidth policy and a written quote.

These ranges exclude optional extras such as separately billed storage and any taxes, payment fees or currency-conversion charges. Providers can also change prices after the date shown above.

Self-hosting: no hosting subscription, but real hardware requirements

Running the dedicated server on a machine you control avoids a monthly hosting invoice. It is not cost-free: you must provide a suitable computer, stable upstream bandwidth, storage, operating-system maintenance, backups and power. The available guides disagree on minimum specifications, so planning to the highest credible minimum is safer than buying to the smallest number.

Source Stated minimum Stated recommendation or scaling
DoomHosting requirements guide 4-core CPU at 3.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 10 GB SSD and 50 Mbps uplink. For up to 40 players: 6–8 cores at 3.5 GHz, 8–16 GB RAM, 20 GB NVMe and 1 Gbps.
DatHost requirements guide Quad-core CPU at 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 10 Mbps and 50 GB SSD. 6 cores, 16 GB RAM, 20 Mbps and 100 GB SSD.
Berrybyte guide At least 6 GB RAM, 2 CPU cores and 20 GB storage. Not stated.
VRisingGuides scaling guide For 1–4 players: 2 cores and 4 GB RAM. For 31–50 players: at least 6 cores and 16 GB RAM.

The disagreement is material: published minimum memory figures range from 4 GB to 8 GB. For a new self-host, use 8 GB RAM as the planning floor, a modern multi-core CPU, and an SSD rather than a hard disk. For larger groups or extensive mods, 16 GB RAM and six or more cores provide the safer target shown in the recommendations. One requirements guide emphasizes that single-core speed can matter more than raw core count, so a newer, faster CPU may outperform an older processor with more nominal cores.

Older guides sometimes list a client GPU such as a GTX 750 Ti. That is not a requirement for a headless dedicated server; those graphics specifications describe a player’s game client, not the server process.

Network ports and connectivity checks

Port guidance is inconsistent. DoomHosting lists game port 9876 UDP and Steam query port 9877 UDP. ZAP-Hosting says both ports should be opened for TCP and UDP. Because these instructions conflict, confirm the current protocol requirements in Stunlock Studios’ official documentation or the server tool’s current instructions before changing a firewall.

For a self-hosted machine, reserve its local IP address, forward only the required ports from your router, and test from outside your home network. If friends cannot see the server, check the operating-system firewall, router forwarding, the server’s configured port, and whether your internet service uses carrier-grade NAT. A port-forward rule cannot accept unsolicited connections when the ISP places your router behind another NAT layer.

Managed hosting versus self-hosting

Factor Managed host Self-hosted machine
Recurring fee Typically about $5–$20 per month for common tiers; some plans use euros. No hosting subscription, but hardware, power and connectivity remain your responsibility.
Setup effort Usually a control panel or installer; exact automation varies by provider. You install and update the server, configure storage, firewall and port forwarding.
Capacity changes Often an upgrade to a larger slot or resource tier. Limited by your CPU, RAM, disk and upstream bandwidth until you replace or expand hardware.
Availability Datacenter power and network are supplied by the host, subject to its outage policy. Your machine and home connection must stay online; sleep, reboots and ISP outages stop access.
Backups and recovery May be included, limited or sold separately; verify retention. You design and test your own backup and restore process.
Control Less operating-system access, but less maintenance. Maximum control over files, settings and scheduling, with more security responsibility.

A practical buying and setup checklist

  1. Count real concurrent players. Size for the number online at the same time, then leave headroom for events rather than buying exactly the usual average.
  2. List demanding features. Note large builds, combat events, frequent saves and mods; these affect CPU, RAM and storage I/O.
  3. Compare the complete invoice. Record currency, tax, storage charges, backup fees, setup fees and the renewal price.
  4. Read the commitment terms. Compare monthly billing with three-, six- and twelve-month prepayment, and confirm the cancellation and refund window.
  5. Test before moving your community. Use a trial or the refund period where explicitly offered, then test peak activity, saves, restarts and mod updates.
  6. Plan recovery. Export the world and configuration, keep an offline copy, and verify that you can restore it on a clean server.
  7. For self-hosting, validate the machine first. Aim for at least 8 GB RAM, an SSD, a fast multi-core CPU and more upstream bandwidth than the minimum guide you are following.
  8. Confirm ports from current official instructions. Do not assume that a UDP-only or TCP-and-UDP rule from a third-party guide is still correct.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Choosing by price alone

A $2 listing from a comparison page may omit storage, have a very small slot limit or be outdated. Use provider-owned pricing as the baseline and ask what is included.

Ignoring storage and backups

A low base rate can become expensive when disk space or backup retention is added. Treat storage as a separate line item during comparison.

Buying the exact minimum hardware

The lowest published memory figure is 4 GB, but another guide requires 8 GB. A machine that barely starts the process has little room for the operating system, updates, large castles or simultaneous combat. Plan to the higher figure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Opening the wrong ports

Port numbers are consistently reported as 9876 and 9877, but protocol advice differs. Check the current official requirement and test externally instead of assuming that a local connection proves internet reachability.

Confusing client graphics requirements with server requirements

A headless server does not render the game world. Do not buy a graphics card solely because an old player-client guide lists one.

Which option makes sense?

  • Choose managed hosting when you want a server online without maintaining a machine, router and operating system, and your group fits a $5–$20 tier.
  • Choose self-hosting when you already have an always-on computer with adequate RAM and SSD storage, can manage port forwarding and backups, and value control more than convenience.
  • Start small, then scale when the player count is uncertain. Confirm the upgrade path and data migration process before committing.

For most small groups, budgeting around $6–$12 per month is a realistic starting point; larger 32-player or mod-heavy arrangements are closer to $20. Self-hosting can beat that recurring price only when the required hardware and reliable connection are already available and their operating costs are acceptable.
