AT&T advertises the largest teacher discount—up to 20%—but only on its Premium 2.0 plan. T-Mobile advertises 15% on two Experience plans, while Verizon advertises 10% on eligible mobile service. Those percentages are not directly comparable: each applies to different plans, line limits, payment conditions and eligibility rules. The least expensive choice for your household depends on your line count, required features, taxes and fees, and whether you can satisfy each carrier’s verification process.
The figures below reflect carrier pages checked October 13, 2026. Plan names, promotions and eligibility can change, so confirm the current offer and price your exact lines immediately before moving service.
2026 teacher discount offers at a glance
This table separates the advertised percentage from the conditions that determine your actual bill. A percentage alone cannot identify the cheapest carrier.

| Carrier | Advertised teacher offer | Important conditions | Verification and timing | Other relevant benefit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Verizon | 10% monthly discount on each eligible mobile line on the displayed Simplicity offer. The landing page displays a starting example of $27 per line per month after Auto Pay and Switch & Save discounts. | The $27 example is for personal lines, before taxes and fees, and depends on both separate discounts. Eligible plan and line rules apply. | Active teachers must validate employment. The support FAQ says annual revalidation is required; a discount may be lost if renewal is not completed within 30 days after the renewal date. | 10% off eligible Fios home internet; the page displays Fios 300 Mbps starting at $26 per month with Auto Pay, subject to location and other terms. |
| AT&T | 20% off Premium 2.0, 15% off Extra 2.0, or 10% off Value 2.0. | The wireless account’s primary owner must be a qualifying K–12 classroom teacher or college/university faculty member or instructor. Plan and other-charge restrictions apply. | Acceptable proof includes an unexpired employee badge, a pay stub less than 90 days old, or a letter of employment less than 30 days old. Credits arrive within three bills. | On Premium 2.0, the offer page lists 50% off a tablet or wearable plan per line, plus discounts on additional connected-device lines. |
| T-Mobile | 15% off Experience More or Experience Beyond, with up to five voice lines. | Autopay is required; taxes and fees are additional. The offer as presented requires at least one new line and is limited time. | The discount may take one or two billing cycles to appear. Work Perks and employer eligibility must be confirmed during checkout. | A five-year price guarantee for talk, text and data is advertised, with exclusions including taxes and fees and terms that can change. |
Verizon’s mobile offer, AT&T’s tiered Appreciation Savings and T-Mobile’s Work Perks offer are separate programs. You cannot assume that a discount on one carrier’s premium plan beats a smaller percentage on another carrier’s lower-priced plan.

Verizon teacher discounts
Mobile offer and displayed price
Verizon’s current teacher landing page advertises a 10% monthly “Those Who Serve” discount on each eligible mobile line on the displayed Simplicity offer. It also shows a starting example of $27 per line per month after the listed Auto Pay and Switch & Save discounts. That is an offer example, not a universal teacher-plan price: it applies to personal lines, assumes both separate discounts, and is before taxes and fees. See the current offer at Verizon’s teacher discount page.
The landing page says actively employed, certified or licensed K–12 and post-secondary teachers at public or private schools, colleges or universities in all states may qualify, subject to verification and exclusions. Certain public employees involved in E-rate or other procurement decisions, or people barred by applicable rules, are excluded. Because the discount is applied to eligible lines rather than being a fixed household credit, calculate the recurring total for your actual number of lines.
Verizon eligibility, renewal and exclusions
Verizon’s mobile support FAQ adds account-level requirements: an eligible teacher must have an eligible monthly plan, be the account owner or manager, apply online and validate employment. The FAQ says annual revalidation is required. If renewal is not completed within 30 days after the renewal date, the discount can be removed. Retired teachers are not eligible under that FAQ, and the teacher discount cannot be combined with a military discount. Since the FAQ may describe legacy or plan-specific structures, use the current landing page and your account’s eligibility result as the final authority: Verizon’s teacher-discount FAQ.
Verizon Fios home-internet discount
Verizon separately advertises 10% off an eligible Fios home-internet plan for active teachers. The landing page displays Fios 300 Mbps starting at $26 per month with Auto Pay, but availability, setup charges, eligible plans and location-specific terms apply. Fios is not a nationwide service. The Fios support FAQ notes state-specific certificate-validation issues and says the discount cannot be combined with Verizon Connections or certain other offers. Check your address and plan before treating the internet saving as part of a mobile comparison: Verizon’s Fios teacher-discount FAQ.
How to apply for Verizon
- Open the teacher offer page and start the eligibility or enrollment flow.
- Use an eligible monthly mobile plan and make sure you are the account owner or manager.
- Submit the requested employment validation for your active teaching role.
- Confirm that Auto Pay and, if used in the displayed price, Switch & Save are actually applied to your account.
- Record the annual revalidation date and complete renewal before the 30-day post-renewal grace period ends.
AT&T Appreciation Savings for teachers
Three plan-specific discount levels
AT&T advertises three teacher discount levels: 20% off Premium 2.0, 15% off Extra 2.0 and 10% off Value 2.0. These are percentage reductions on named plans, not a 20% reduction on every AT&T plan. The offer page says credits appear within three bills and that other charges, usage, speed and restrictions continue to apply. Review the current terms at AT&T’s teacher discount page.

AT&T also lists connected-device savings. On Premium 2.0, the page advertises 50% off a tablet or wearable plan per line, along with discounts on additional tablet, wearable or Connected Car lines. These are ancillary benefits: include them only if your household actually uses those lines, and verify their pricing separately from the phone-plan discount.
Who must own the account
AT&T’s support instructions require the wireless account’s primary owner to be a K–12 classroom teacher or a college/university faculty member or instructor. A family member can use a line on the account, but making a nonqualifying person the primary owner can prevent approval. The support page was last updated March 12, 2026: AT&T’s Appreciation Savings enrollment guidance.

Acceptable proof of employment
Prepare one current document showing your name, eligible position and school:
- An unexpired employee badge.
- A pay stub issued less than 90 days ago.
- A letter of employment issued less than 30 days ago.
Documents missing the role, school or your name may fail verification even when you are otherwise eligible. Upload a clear, readable copy and keep the original available if support requests clarification.
How AT&T credits are applied
AT&T says the discount can take up to three billing cycles to appear. Keep paying the billed amount while the credit is pending; do not assume the first invoice reflects the final recurring total. After the credit posts, compare the discount line with the qualifying plan and check that any connected-device offers were applied only where expected.

How to enroll with AT&T

- Make sure the qualifying teacher is the wireless account’s primary owner.
- Submit an eligible badge, recent pay stub or recent employment letter.
- Save the enrollment confirmation and inspect the next three bills for the Appreciation Savings credit.
- Price tablet, wearable and Connected Car lines independently; do not count an ancillary discount unless you will keep that connected line.
T-Mobile Work Perks for educators
Plans, lines and payment requirements
T-Mobile advertises 15% off either Experience More or Experience Beyond for eligible educators. The offer supports up to five voice lines and requires Autopay. Taxes and fees are additional, so the percentage does not represent the final all-in bill. As presented, the promotion also requires at least one new line. Read the current Work Perks terms at T-Mobile’s teacher and educator offer page.
Price guarantee and timing
The page advertises a five-year price guarantee for talk, text and data, with exclusions that include taxes and fees. The discount itself is marked limited time and subject to change, so do not interpret the guarantee as a promise that every part of the invoice will remain unchanged. T-Mobile says the discount may take one or two billing cycles to take effect. Keep the confirmation and compare the first two invoices with the quoted plan price.
Work Perks eligibility
Eligibility is verified through T-Mobile’s Work Perks and employer process. Complete the employer check during checkout rather than assuming that a teaching title alone activates the discount. If the verification result is unclear, resolve it before porting numbers or cancelling your existing service.
How to enroll with T-Mobile
- Select Experience More or Experience Beyond and confirm that the plan supports your required features.
- Enable Autopay and identify the new line required by the promotion as presented.
- Complete the Work Perks educator or employer verification.
- Confirm the number of voice lines covered, up to five, and note taxes and fees separately.
- Allow one or two billing cycles, then verify that the 15% discount appears.
Which carrier is best for your household?
There is no defensible single winner from the advertised percentages. AT&T has the largest headline reduction, but only Premium 2.0 receives 20%; T-Mobile’s 15% applies to two specified Experience plans and up to five voice lines; Verizon’s 10% applies to eligible mobile lines on its displayed offer and may pair with a separate Fios discount. Compare the same number of lines and the same service requirements before choosing.
If you want the biggest advertised percentage
Start with AT&T Premium 2.0 because its published teacher reduction is 20%. Then price Extra 2.0 and Value 2.0 as alternatives. A lower-tier plan with a smaller percentage may still produce a lower bill, while a premium plan may be worthwhile only if its included features replace services you already pay for.

If you need up to five voice lines and a price horizon
T-Mobile is the only offer in this comparison that explicitly advertises up to five voice lines and a five-year talk, text and data price guarantee. Confirm the new-line requirement, Autopay, taxes and fees, and the guarantee’s exclusions before relying on the headline.
If home internet is part of the decision
Verizon is the only carrier here with a separately advertised teacher discount for home internet. Check whether Fios serves your address, whether the 300 Mbps example applies locally and whether another Verizon offer must be surrendered. Do not assume mobile eligibility guarantees Fios eligibility.
If you have tablets or wearables
AT&T’s Premium 2.0 page lists connected-device savings. Add the full cost of each tablet, wearable or Connected Car line to your worksheet; a discount on a line you do not need has no practical value.
How to compare the offers without overpaying
Build one worksheet for all three carriers using the same household assumptions. Include every recurring charge and every condition that can remove the discount.

- Match the plans. Record the exact qualifying plan name: Verizon’s displayed Simplicity offer, AT&T Premium 2.0, Extra 2.0 or Value 2.0, or T-Mobile Experience More or Experience Beyond.
- Apply recurring conditions. Mark Autopay, paperless billing, Switch & Save, new-line or port-in requirements and any device financing obligation. Remove a condition you will not keep and recalculate.
- Add taxes and fees. Verizon’s $27 example and Fios price are before taxes and fees; T-Mobile explicitly says taxes and fees are additional; AT&T says other charges and restrictions apply. Request an itemized quote for your service address.
- Check feature equivalence. Compare the data priority, hotspot allowance, roaming and connected-device features your household actually uses. A cheaper plan that drops a required feature is not an equivalent offer.
- Model discount timing. AT&T says up to three bills, T-Mobile one or two billing cycles, and Verizon requires annual revalidation. Keep enough cash available for the undiscounted or partially credited first invoices.
- Check conflicts. Verizon’s FAQ says the teacher discount cannot be combined with a military discount, and its Fios FAQ lists Verizon Connections and other offer restrictions. Ask each carrier which promotion must be removed before enrollment.
Eligibility and verification checklist
- Confirm that your current employment is active and fits the carrier’s stated K–12 or post-secondary definition.
- Identify who must own the account. Verizon requires the eligible teacher to be the account owner or manager; AT&T requires the primary owner to be the qualifying teacher or faculty member.
- Gather unexpired or recently issued proof before starting enrollment. AT&T’s document windows are specific: badge unexpired, pay stub under 90 days, employment letter under 30 days.
- Check whether retired status qualifies. Verizon’s support FAQ says retired teachers are not eligible for its teacher discount.
- Note renewal dates and revalidation duties. Verizon’s annual renewal is the clearest ongoing requirement in these offers.
- Keep confirmation numbers, screenshots of the qualifying plan and copies of submitted documents until the discount appears.
Common problems and practical fixes
The percentage is approved but the bill is higher than expected
Check the base plan, taxes, regulatory fees, device payments, insurance, international usage and connected-device lines separately. Verizon’s displayed $27 figure assumes Auto Pay and Switch & Save; T-Mobile excludes taxes and fees; AT&T says other charges continue. Ask support to identify each non-discounted line item rather than requesting a generic “teacher price.”

The discount has not appeared
Wait through the carrier’s stated processing period while keeping your account current: up to three bills for AT&T or one to two billing cycles for T-Mobile. If the period has passed, provide the enrollment confirmation and verification record and ask support to audit the qualifying plan and account owner.
Verification fails even though you teach
Check the exact role and school information on your document. AT&T requires the name, eligible position and school to be shown, with strict date limits for pay stubs and employment letters. For Verizon or T-Mobile, restart the official validation flow and confirm that your account owner, plan and employer details match.
A promotion blocks enrollment
List every current discount before switching. Verizon’s mobile and Fios FAQs identify combinations that are not allowed, and other carriers may require a conflicting offer to be removed. Ask for the post-change recurring total in writing or in the checkout summary before accepting the change.

Bottom line
Choose AT&T first when its Premium 2.0 price and features make the advertised 20% worthwhile; evaluate its 15% and 10% tiers instead of assuming Premium 2.0 is cheapest. Choose T-Mobile when Experience More or Experience Beyond, up to five voice lines and the stated price-guarantee terms fit your household. Choose Verizon when its 10% mobile offer, displayed Auto Pay conditions or separate Fios discount produce the best itemized total for your address. Verify eligibility, line count, payment requirements, taxes and fees, and credit timing directly before you port a number or cancel existing service.
