Mint Mobile charges for service in prepaid, multi-month blocks: the advertised monthly price is an equivalent rate, not the amount you pay at checkout. As of October 11, 2026, Mint’s Help Center describes a limited-time six-month promotion for new customers at $10 per month, or $60 upfront before taxes and fees. Separately, Mint’s 12-month plans page displays a $15-per-month introductory offer, or $180 upfront. These are different offers, and neither introductory rate should be assumed to be the renewal price. If you are asking, “If I purchased a plan at an introductory price, what will the cost of my plan be when I renew?”, the answer depends on the plan and renewal term you select.

How Mint’s multi-month pricing works

Mint sells service in prepaid terms rather than charging the advertised monthly equivalent as a month-to-month bill. You select a plan and term, then pay for that term upfront. For example, a displayed rate of $10 per month for six months means a $60 service payment for the six-month term before taxes and fees; it does not mean you pay $10 at a time.

The monthly figure is useful for comparing service rates, but it is not a complete measure of either your checkout cost or what you will pay later. Keep three amounts separate when evaluating an offer:

  • Term price: the price of service for the entire period you are purchasing.
  • Checkout total: the term price plus applicable taxes and fees shown when you buy.
  • Renewal price: the price of the plan and term you choose after the initial term ends.

Mint’s published prices and fees can change. The figures below are the prices shown on Mint’s pages as checked October 11, 2026, not a guarantee of what will appear at a later checkout.

How the current six-month promotion differs from the 12-month offer

Mint’s Help Center describes a 10-Year Anniversary promotion that began October 8, 2026. It is a limited-time offer for new customers, covers any six-month plan including Unlimited, and lists a rate of $10 per month with $60 due upfront before taxes and fees. Mint’s official Help Center wording is: “Starting October 8, 2026, new Mint customers can get any of our 6-month plans, even Unlimited, for $10/mo for a limited time ($60 upfront payment req’d).” The page does not state an end date.

The separate 12-month plans page displays a new-customer introductory rate of $15 per month for 12 months, or $180 upfront before taxes and fees. Do not read that as another presentation of the six-month anniversary offer: the term, upfront amount and displayed rate differ. Mint’s pages do not establish whether the offers can be combined, so do not assume that the six-month promotion can be applied to an annual purchase.

10-Year Anniversary promotion in Mint’s Help Center New customers; six months; any six-month plan, including Unlimited $10 per month $60, before taxes and fees After the promotional term, renew for 3, 6 or 12 months; check Mint’s plan page for current rates.
12-month plans page 12-month plan page; introductory offer identified as a new-customer offer $15 per month $180, before taxes and fees Renewal rates are plan- and term-specific. The page reviewed showed $20 per month for 17GB and $30 per month for Unlimited on a 12-month renewal.

The table compares the published offer terms, not an all-in checkout total. The six-month offer page and 12-month plans page are separate displays. The evidence on those pages does not establish whether one offer replaces, supersedes or can be combined with the other in a particular customer’s checkout. Use the offer actually presented for the plan you select.

What happens when an introductory term ends?

An introductory rate applies to its stated initial term. It is not evidence of the rate for the next term. Mint says customers completing the six-month anniversary offer may renew for 3, 6 or 12 months, and directs customers to its plans for current renewal pricing. The renewal choice affects both how long the next prepaid purchase covers and its price. Review the selected plan’s current rate for the term you intend to buy rather than carrying forward the promotion’s monthly equivalent.

Mint’s 12-month plans page gives concrete examples of higher renewal prices. In the page reviewed on October 11, 2026, the 17GB plan’s 12-month renewal was listed at $20 per month, equivalent to $240 for 12 months, while Unlimited was listed at $30 per month, equivalent to $360 for 12 months. Those are plan-specific examples from that page, not universal renewal rates for every Mint plan or a promise that future rates will remain the same.

For the displayed 12-month introductory offer, the service-price difference between the initial term and those examples is substantial: the 17GB plan was displayed at $180 for its introductory year versus $240 for a 12-month renewal; Unlimited was displayed at $180 for the introductory year versus $360 for a 12-month renewal. These comparisons exclude taxes and fees. The annual page’s price example does not tell you the anniversary promotion’s renewal price. For that offer, look up the current rate for the data plan and renewal length you choose.

How to compare the real cost before buying

  1. Identify the offer and your eligibility. Check whether you are looking at the six-month anniversary offer or the separate 12-month plans page. The anniversary offer is described for new customers; do not assume an existing customer qualifies for it.
  2. Confirm the term and plan. Verify the data tier, whether Unlimited is included in the offer you are considering, and whether the term is six or 12 months. A per-month equivalent without its term can make two different purchases look more alike than they are.
  3. Compare the upfront service amount. For the listed anniversary offer, the service payment is $60 for six months. For the 12-month introductory display, it is $180 for 12 months. These amounts are before taxes and fees.
  4. Find the plan’s renewal price and term. On Mint’s plans page, inspect the plan and renewal duration you expect to choose. Record the whole-term renewal cost, not just its monthly equivalent. For the anniversary offer, Mint says a customer can renew for 3, 6 or 12 months; the rate depends on the selected plan and term.
  5. Check the checkout total. Taxes and fees are extra. Read the final amount Mint presents for your actual plan and term before completing payment; the published service price and recovery fee alone do not necessarily represent every applicable charge.
  6. Consider timing if you will activate later. Mint says a purchased plan can be activated within 45 days. Make sure your intended activation falls within that window.

A useful comparison is to write down two totals for each offer: the amount due now and the expected service price for the next term. For example, the displayed 12-month intro purchase is $180 before fees, but the reviewed 17GB renewal example is $240 for the following 12 months. Looking only at the $15 monthly equivalent would miss the change. The same exercise for the six-month offer begins with $60 upfront, but you must look up its future renewal rate separately; the offer page does not supply one fixed renewal price for all plans.

Taxes, fees and why checkout can be higher

Mint states that taxes and fees are additional to the advertised term price. Its Terms & Conditions list a recovery fee separately from service cost. For the 12-month plans in the published schedule, the recovery fees listed were:

12-month plan Recovery fee listed in Mint’s Terms & Conditions
6GB $14
17GB $14.50
23GB $14.75
Unlimited $16.25

Mint explains that the recovery fee combines a flat per-plan fee with an additional 2.5% of plan cost to help recover administrative fees. The listed recovery fee is not a complete estimate of tax or the final amount due: other applicable taxes or charges may apply. Nor should the 12-month fee schedule be assumed to be the fee for a six-month purchase. Check the checkout summary for the exact total attached to your selected plan and term.

Changing a plan during the promotion

Mint says the anniversary promotion’s $10-per-month rate does not remain in place if a customer changes plans during the promotional term. If you move to a higher-data plan, Mint says it charges a prorated difference based on the new plan’s standard rate. That means the displayed promotional price is not a fixed price that necessarily follows you to another plan. Before changing tiers, review the adjustment Mint presents and decide whether the added data is worth that prorated cost. The stated restriction concerns the anniversary offer; do not assume it defines the rules for every other Mint promotion.

Questions to resolve at checkout

Before paying, confirm the offer name or term shown, your eligibility, the plan’s data allowance, and the amount due for the full prepaid period. Then check the renewal section for the available term choices and price attached to the plan you selected. Mint’s anniversary page frames the follow-up question as: “What will my plan renewal price be after this promotion ends?” The answer is not one rate for all customers; use the current price displayed for your particular plan and renewal duration.

  • Does the offer shown apply to a new customer, and is it still available?
  • Is the selected plan covered by that specific offer?
  • What is the complete amount due now, including checkout taxes and fees?
  • What will this plan cost for the renewal term you expect to select?
  • If you plan to change plans, what prorated adjustment will Mint apply?
  • If you will activate later, is activation within 45 days of purchase?

Mint offers SIM and eSIM activation and says customers can bring a compatible phone, according to its 12-month plans page. Those options concern how to use the service; they do not change the core pricing comparison. Verify that the purchase and activation details shown for your own device and order match your needs.

How to decide between the offers

The right comparison depends on the length of service you want to prepay, the plan data you need and the renewal amount you can accept. A lower initial monthly equivalent is not necessarily the least expensive option over time if the later term is priced higher. Equally, a lower upfront payment on a six-month term does not show what a full year will cost: the next six months would be a separate renewal purchase at the then-current price.

Use the six-month anniversary offer as a six-month introductory purchase, not as proof that annual service costs $10 per month. Use the 12-month plans page’s $15-per-month display as a separate 12-month introductory purchase, not as the anniversary promotion’s yearly equivalent. For either route, judge the offer by the total for the initial term, the likely renewal plan and term, and the checkout fees disclosed for the order. Because Mint labels the anniversary deal limited time and does not publish an end date on that page, confirm the offer and final total immediately before buying.
