Minecoins are Minecraft’s in-game currency for buying content in the Minecraft Marketplace. They are not general-purpose cash: their use is tied to Marketplace purchases made through a Microsoft account. Depending on the listing, you can spend them on cosmetic skins, texture packs, complete worlds, adventure maps, mash-ups, mini-games, survival spawns, and add-ons that change how a world plays.
The same account connection also explains how access works across supported Bedrock devices and between Bedrock Edition and Minecraft Legends. Creators reach the catalog through Minecraft’s Partner Program, while publishers and websites can earn qualifying affiliate rewards from eligible Marketplace product purchases—not from selling Minecoins as a standalone currency.

Minecoins are a digital balance used inside Minecraft Marketplace. Minecraft describes them as a currency for purchasing content on an account, so they should be treated more like a platform wallet than like money that can be withdrawn or spent elsewhere.
Marketplace content covers several very different experiences:
#1 Best Overall
- Minecoins let you buy Minecraft content you can enjoy on your Android, iOS, Windows 10, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch devices*
- Visit the in-game Minecraft marketplace, where you'll discover a constantly updating library of exciting new Minecraft content - from a community whose imagination knows no limits.
- Once you've redeemed your Minecoins, they'll be linked with your Xbox Live account, so you can access your coins and purchases through all of your supported devices that run Minecraft.
- Minecoins are a perfect gift for Minecraft players!
- Cosmetic persona content: skins and skin packs change a character’s appearance.
- Texture content: texture packs alter the visual style of blocks, items, environments, or interfaces.
- World and adventure content: complete worlds and adventure maps provide a prepared setting, story, challenge, or play objective.
- Mash-ups: themed bundles can combine visual, character, and world elements into one package.
- Mini-games and survival spawns: these provide specific game modes or starting scenarios.
- Add-ons: these can add blocks, mobs, items, recipes, and other mechanics to a new world or, where supported by the listing, an existing world.
That range matters when judging value. A skin pack is mainly a personalization purchase; an add-on or adventure world can affect how you play and may be usable repeatedly. The Minecoin price alone does not tell you how much playable content an item contains.
How buying and using Minecoins works
Buy Minecoins in Bedrock Edition
The documented in-game purchase path is:
- Open Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and sign in with the Microsoft account that should own the purchase.
- Open Marketplace.
- Select the plus button beside your Minecoin balance.
- Choose a Minecoin package.
- Complete checkout through the payment flow shown for your account and region.
After checkout, the balance is intended for Marketplace spending. Minecraft’s official material does not establish a permanent, universal price table for Minecoin packages, so package sizes, prices, taxes, currency conversion, and promotional offers should be checked in the store shown to you at the time of purchase.
Use the Microsoft account as the ownership anchor
Minecoins and Marketplace purchases appear when you sign in to Bedrock Edition with the same Microsoft account used for the transaction. A different console, computer, or mobile device does not by itself transfer a balance; the account identity is what connects the purchase to supported Bedrock access.

- 8,800 MINECOINS — Get 8,800 Minecoins to spend on creator-made content in the Minecraft Marketplace.
- MINECRAFT MARKETPLACE — Browse a constantly updating library of content from Minecraft creators, with new content available every week.
- CREATOR-MADE CONTENT — Use Minecoins to get Marketplace content such as skin packs, mash-up packs, mini-games, and adventure maps.
- ACCESS ACROSS DEVICES — Once redeemed and linked to your Microsoft account, your Minecoins and purchases are available on supported devices that run Minecraft, including Android, iOS, Windows, and Xbox.
- A GIFT FOR PLAYERS — Give Minecraft players Minecoins to spend on content in the in-game Marketplace.
Minecraft also documents Minecoin carry-over between Bedrock and Minecraft Legends when both use the same Microsoft account. That is a specific documented relationship, not a promise that every Marketplace item or every platform has identical support. Check an item’s own listing and your edition before buying.
What a Minecoin purchase does not provide
- Minecoins are not a general Microsoft balance that can be spent on unrelated products.
- Buying Minecoins does not automatically grant every Marketplace item; you still select and purchase content separately.
- The official information does not guarantee that every item works on every Bedrock device, edition, or gameplay context.
What you can buy in Marketplace
Use the following comparison when deciding whether a listing matches what you want to do.
| Content type | Primary purpose | Typical scope | Value question to ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skin or skin pack | Change a player’s appearance | Persona/cosmetic use | Will you use enough of the included looks to justify the price? |
| Texture pack | Change the look of the game | Visual changes in supported worlds | Does the style improve the worlds and devices where you play? |
| Complete world | Provide a ready-made setting and activities | Usually a new standalone world | How much exploration or replayable activity is included? |
| Adventure map | Deliver a designed story, puzzle, or challenge | A particular map or scenario | Is the experience intended for one play-through or repeat sessions? |
| Mash-up pack | Combine themed visuals and world elements | A bundled themed experience | Do the combined components fit how you normally play? |
| Mini-game | Offer a focused game mode | A specific activity or rule set | Can you play it repeatedly or with the people you normally play with? |
| Survival spawn | Start survival play from a designed scenario | A prepared starting environment | Does the starting setup add lasting variety? |
| Add-on | Add blocks, mobs, items, recipes, or mechanics | A new world or, where the listing supports it, an existing world | What gameplay systems change, and are they compatible with your intended world? |
Marketplace pages can change, and the official information available for this topic does not establish a permanent Minecoin price list. Compare the item’s stated contents, supported scope, and expected replay value at the moment you buy rather than relying on an old price screenshot or a generic “value” claim.

Redeeming a Minecraft Minecoins gift card
Prepaid cards may be available through retailers. The relevant physical-product term is Minecraft Minecoins gift card. Minecraft’s support documentation describes a 25-digit code arranged as five groups of five characters and a redemption flow through the Microsoft account or Minecraft.
- Confirm that the card is intended for Minecraft Minecoins and that the retailer’s country, denomination, seller, and current terms fit your account. Official documentation does not validate any particular retailer listing.
- Sign in to the Microsoft account you use for Bedrock Edition.
- Open the Microsoft account redemption page or the Minecraft redemption flow provided for the card.
- Enter the full 25-digit code, preserving all five groups of five characters.
- Complete the confirmation steps, then open Marketplace in Bedrock Edition and verify that the balance is attached to the same account.
If the balance is not visible, first check that you are signed into the exact Microsoft account used during redemption. Re-entering a code on a different account will not make that account’s Marketplace balance appear. If the code is unreadable, already used, or rejected, keep the purchase receipt and follow the support route provided by the retailer or Microsoft; do not publish or share the code.
How creators sell content through Minecraft Marketplace
The official route: Minecraft Partner Program
The Minecraft Partner Program is the official path for creators and studios seeking Marketplace distribution. Minecraft asks applicants to show a portfolio of high-quality, original work. Examples listed by the program include maps, skin packs, texture packs, hosted servers, add-ons, and Realms content.

- THE PERFECT GAMING GIFT — Buy an XBOX Gift Card for yourself or a friend and let them choose the games, add‑ons, subscriptions, and accessories they want most.
- USE FOR GAMES & CONTENT — Redeem for thousands of digital XBOX games, from backward compatible classics to the latest new releases, plus DLC and in‑game currency.
- GAME PASS READY — Apply your balance toward XBOX Game Pass Ultimate to play new titles on day one* and access a library of hundreds of high‑quality console games.
- PRE‑ORDER & PRE‑INSTALL GAMES — Use your balance to pre‑order and pre‑download upcoming titles so you’re ready to play the moment they launch.
- NO FEES OR EXPIRATION — XBOX Gift Cards never expire and have no service fees, so your balance is ready whenever you are.
An application is more than a single idea or an unfinished project. Business-ready materials are expected, including key art, screenshots, trailers, and clear descriptions. These assets help the Marketplace team evaluate both the quality of the work and how it can be presented to players.

Review happens before publication
Every new submission is reviewed for quality and suitability before it is made available to players. Acceptance is therefore not automatic, and a portfolio or a technically working prototype is not a guarantee of distribution. Creators should plan for an editorial and quality bar in addition to development, testing, art, and marketing work.
How players pay creators
Players purchase accepted creator content using Minecoins, Minecraft’s in-game currency. The creator-side process is therefore separate from a player buying Minecoins: Minecoins are the payment instrument used at checkout, while the Partner Program is the route through which eligible content enters the catalog.

Can you earn money promoting Marketplace items?
Minecraft’s Affiliate Program covers eligible Marketplace offers sold on the web. The listed categories include add-ons, skin packs, texture packs, mash-up packs, adventure maps, mini-games, and survival spawns. Persona items and subscriptions are excluded.
The key accounting distinction is how Minecoins are used. The affiliate guidance says Minecoins applied to an eligible product purchase count toward rewards, while a standalone purchase of Minecoins does not count as an affiliate-commission event. In other words, a link or promotion should lead to an eligible Marketplace product, not merely to a page where someone buys currency for later use.
The program states a 5% starting commission for qualifying actions on or after August 29, 2026. Treat that as the program’s stated starting rate for qualifying actions, not as a permanent guarantee: review the operating agreement and current terms before publishing rates, earnings examples, or eligibility claims.
A compliant promotion workflow
- Choose an eligible Marketplace product category, such as an add-on, skin pack, texture pack, mash-up pack, adventure map, mini-game, or survival spawn.
- Use the affiliate link and disclosures required by the current program terms.
- Describe what the product actually contains and avoid implying that buying Minecoins alone earns a commission.
- Make clear that compatibility and availability should be checked on the product listing and the player’s Bedrock setup.
- Track qualifying product actions under the current operating agreement rather than estimating rewards from standalone currency sales.
Account, device, and purchase problems
Minecoins are missing after a purchase
- Open Bedrock Edition, Marketplace, and the account profile to confirm the signed-in Microsoft account.
- Compare that account with the one used at checkout; a different account will show a different balance.
- If you use both Bedrock and Legends, verify that both games are linked to the same Microsoft account for the documented carry-over.
- Sign out and back in only after confirming the account, then check Marketplace again.
An item is unavailable on a particular device
Do not assume that an item’s presence in Marketplace guarantees identical support everywhere. The official material does not guarantee that every listing works on every platform. Read the listing’s edition, world, and usage information before spending Minecoins, especially for add-ons that alter gameplay.
A prepaid code will not redeem
Check the 25-digit format, enter every character once, and make sure you are using the intended Microsoft account. Keep proof of purchase for retailer or Microsoft support. Because retailer listings can vary by country, denomination, seller, and current terms, verify those details before buying a physical card.
Quick Recap
A simple decision framework before spending Minecoins
- Identify the desired outcome: appearance, visual overhaul, a new world, a designed challenge, or new gameplay mechanics.
- Check scope: determine whether the purchase affects a persona, one standalone world, a specific activity, or existing and new worlds where supported.
- Confirm account access: use the Microsoft account that will play the content on supported Bedrock devices.
- Estimate repeat use: compare the amount of customization or playable content with how often you expect to return to it.
- Verify the live listing: prices, contents, availability, and compatibility can change, and no permanent universal price table is established.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
