A Milwaukee M12 battery can power more than an M12 tool—but only through compatible Milwaukee accessories or heated gear, not by plugging devices directly into the battery. The current M12 TOP-OFF accessory provides USB-C charging, and compatible M12 clothing uses the battery for heat. Milwaukee’s published material supports these uses, not five distinct unexpected tools.
What fits Milwaukee M12 batteries?
Milwaukee states that “All M12™ batteries are compatible with M12™ tools and chargers.” That compatibility applies within the M12 system; it does not mean an M12 pack fits M18 products, every Milwaukee product, or another brand’s tools. See Milwaukee’s battery compatibility and care information.
For uses beyond tools, the battery needs a compatible power-source accessory or garment. The pack itself does not have a USB-C port or a clothing connector.

USB-C charging for personal electronics
The current M12 TOP-OFF Power Supply and Charger, model 48-59-1211, accepts M12 batteries and provides 15W bi-directional USB-C power. Milwaukee describes it as suitable for charging personal devices such as phones, tablets, and headphones; it can also charge M12 batteries through USB-C. The package lists a USB-C cable and wall adapter, but not an M12 battery. Milwaukee lists a five-year warranty on the product page.

Heat for compatible jackets, hoodies, and vests
Milwaukee’s heated-gear catalog includes M12 jackets, hoodies, and vests. Many garment listings specify compatibility with all M12 batteries and the app-controlled Heated Gear Power Source, but compatibility depends on the exact model and kit. Check the individual product page rather than assuming every heated item uses a standard M12 pack: the catalog’s Heated Winter Gloves entry specifies a separate Heated Gloves 2Ah Battery.
App-controlled heat and device charging
The Heated Gear Power Source w/ App Control, model 48-11-2330, is another route to powering M12 heated gear. Milwaukee lists a 36Wh capacity, up to 12 hours on low and 3 hours on high, 15W device-charging output, and 36W USB-C recharging. These are manufacturer specifications, not guaranteed runtimes; actual results depend on conditions and heat setting. Milwaukee also says supported HEXON Heat Technology garments can have heat zones and runtime personalized through the Milwaukee Heated Gear App.

How to check a garment or kit before buying
- Find the exact model or kit number. Open its listing in Milwaukee’s heated-gear catalog, rather than relying on a general M12 label.
- Read the stated power-source requirement. Confirm whether the garment accepts M12 batteries, calls for the app-controlled Heated Gear Power Source, or specifies a distinct battery such as the Heated Gloves 2Ah Battery.
- Check the box contents. A product may be sold as a garment alone or as a kit. Do not assume a battery or power-source accessory is included unless that specific listing says it is.
- Match runtime claims to the exact garment and setting. Milwaukee’s catalog gives garment-specific runtime examples; a figure for one model or heat level should not be carried over to another.
What about older M12 power-source accessories?
Milwaukee’s pages for the M12 Power Source (49-24-2310) and M12 Compact Charger and Power Source (48-59-1201) describe device-charging and heated-gear uses, but both are marked no longer available. Their listings help explain earlier accessory options; check current stock before considering either model.

Why “five tools” is not quite the right description
The surprising part is the range of jobs an M12 battery can support, not five separate tools that directly accept the pack. The verified examples are power-source accessories, compatible clothing, and USB-C charging through an accessory. Avoid improvised wiring or unverified cross-brand adapters: the cited compatibility information establishes the M12 system boundary, not the safety or fit of conversions.
