Meta’s Muse Wonder models and its Llama family differ most clearly in how Meta says people can access them—not in a proven overall capability ranking. Meta announced Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full on October 12, 2026, describing them as agentic models available through its hosted API and coding product. Meta, by contrast, describes Llama as an open-source model family. The available information does not establish that Wonder can be downloaded and run locally, or that Wonder Full outperforms Llama across tasks.
What are Meta’s Wonder models?
Meta announced two models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, on October 12, 2026. It calls them its most capable models for personal and professional agentic tasks. In Meta’s description, an agentic model is intended to pursue a goal across multiple steps rather than only respond to a single prompt. That positioning is a statement of intended use, not a guarantee that a model will complete every task reliably.
Meta says Muse Wonder is available through the Meta Model API and Muse Code, while Muse Wonder Full is available to Muse Code subscribers. Meta also says Wonder will soon power experiences in Muse, initially rolling out to subscribers. Availability can change; the launch announcement is the source for these routes, not a guarantee of current access.
How do Wonder and Llama differ in access and openness?
| Question | Muse Wonder / Wonder Full | Llama |
|---|---|---|
| Access described by Meta | Wonder: Meta Model API and Muse Code. Wonder Full: Muse Code subscribers. Meta also said Wonder would soon power Muse experiences, initially for subscribers. | Meta’s developer page describes Llama as an open-source model family; the cited page does not specify one access route for every release. |
| Can you run it locally? | The October 12 announcement does not establish downloadable Wonder weights or local use. | Meta’s open-source characterization supports a different release posture, but check the terms and files for the specific Llama model you intend to use. |
| Published scale figure | Not stated in the announcement. | Meta reports more than 600 million Llama downloads on its developer page; the page does not establish an independently audited count or state a publication year. |
| Pricing or hardware requirements | Pricing and hardware requirements are not stated in the announcement. | They vary by specific model and deployment; the cited developer page does not establish one common price or hardware requirement. |
Meta’s “open-source” description of Llama is its characterization of the family, not evidence that every release has identical licensing terms. For a particular checkpoint, consult its own license and distribution terms. The launch information does not identify Wonder or Wonder Full as open-weight releases, so it would be inaccurate to assume they can be downloaded simply because Meta also publishes Llama.

What does Meta claim Wonder can do?
Active Memory
Meta describes Active Memory as carrying important context across conversations and retrieving relevant details. This is a product capability claim; how well it works can depend on the implementation, available context, and task.
Active Focus
Meta says Active Focus is designed to keep working toward a goal, try alternatives, adapt to new information, ask for clarification, and check in before important actions. These behaviors describe the intended approach, not a guarantee of persistence, accuracy, or safe execution in every use.

Domain work and coding
Meta points to evaluations in law, finance, health, memory, long-running tasks, and coding. It names Harvey’s Legal Agent Benchmark, FocusBench, and SWE-Marathon. Those examples show what Meta chose to assess; they do not, on their own, establish that Wonder Full is better than Llama or another open model in real-world use.

Do the launch results prove Wonder Full is better than Llama?
No. Meta reports results from its own evaluation suite, but the cited announcement does not provide an independently run, directly comparable assessment across Wonder Full, Llama, and other open models with shared settings. A score from one vendor’s chosen evaluations cannot establish a universal winner, especially across different tasks and deployment conditions.

Meta also uses the term “benchmaxxing” in discussing benchmark coverage. That is Meta’s framing, not independent evidence that the models generalize better. A meaningful comparison would need the same task definitions, model versions, prompts, tools, inference settings, and scoring method, ideally tested by an independent evaluator. Until such evidence is available, Meta’s claims support a description of Wonder’s intended strengths, not a general ranking.
Can you run Wonder locally, and what does Glimmer have to do with it?
The October 12 Wonder announcement does not establish downloadable weights or a local deployment option for Wonder or Wonder Full. Meta has separately described Muse Glimmer as a local model, but Glimmer is not Wonder and its specifications should not be transferred to Wonder or to Llama variants.

In an August 10, 2026 announcement, Meta AI Research described Glimmer as a 30-billion-parameter model with weights released under Apache 2.0, intended for local agent workflows. Meta said it can run on a Mac or PC with a single consumer GPU and named Ollama, LM Studio, and Unsloth as local-running partners, alongside llama.cpp, ExecuTorch, and MLX for edge frameworks. Meta did not give a minimum GPU specification in that statement. This is deployment context for Glimmer—not a hardware recommendation for Wonder or a guarantee that a given Llama checkpoint will run on the same setup.
What is known about Wonder’s safety and practical limits?
Meta says Wonder has its strongest safeguards to date against CBRN and cyber misuse and describes alignment work. It also says a fuller report with additional safety evaluations will be available soon. These are Meta’s statements, not an independent safety audit; the launch announcement does not supply that fuller report.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The announcement also does not state Wonder’s parameter count, context window, API pricing, or downloadable-weight terms. Those details should not be inferred from Llama or Glimmer. They matter when deciding whether a hosted model fits a project, but the available announcement does not answer them.
Quick Recap
Which should you choose?
- Consider Wonder if you want to explore Meta’s agent-focused offering through the Meta Model API or Muse Code, and the stated access route fits your workflow.
- Consider Llama if you want to evaluate Meta’s open-model family and need to investigate model-specific distribution and licensing options for your own deployment.
- Consider Glimmer separately if your question is specifically about a Meta model described for local workflows; its hardware claim applies to Glimmer alone.
- Wait for comparable evidence if your decision depends on which model is more capable. The launch claims are not a head-to-head independent ranking.
