Marvel Rivals is free to download, and its heroes, maps and gameplay systems are available without paying. Money is used for cosmetic items only, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win effects. Each season combines a free reward track, a paid Luxury Battle Pass and rotating events. You earn Chrono Tokens by completing tasks, then exchange them for rewards; Lattice buys the Luxury Pass and many store items, while Units are a secondary currency earned or exchanged in limited quantities. Event rewards have closing dates, but selected Battle Passes and cosmetics have returned in later reruns.
How a Marvel Rivals season is organized
A season has three overlapping reward systems rather than one universal pass. The free Battle Pass track provides a selection of cosmetics. The Luxury Battle Pass adds a larger themed collection, normally centered on costume sets. Seasonal and special events run alongside both tracks and use their own missions, match requirements or participation goals.
NetEase describes the paid model as cosmetic-only: purchases change appearance or presentation, not hero statistics, abilities or competitive power. That means a player can use the same heroes and maps as someone who spends nothing.

The Luxury track is purchased with Lattice. Once purchased, it does not expire. You can continue unlocking its unfinished rewards in future seasons instead of losing access when the current season ends. This persistence is different from a timed event: an event mission can close on a stated date even though your paid Battle Pass remains available.

Chrono Tokens turn play into rewards
Tasks and event activities award Chrono Tokens. You spend those tokens in the Battle Pass reward interface to claim items. The practical loop is therefore: select available tasks, play the required modes or matches, collect Chrono Tokens, and redeem the reward nodes you want. The exact task list and token amounts can change with a season or event.
The three currencies and what each one does
| Currency | How you obtain it | Typical use | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lattice | Primarily purchased with real money | Buying the Luxury Battle Pass and paid store cosmetics | It is the premium currency; the amount needed depends on the pass or item |
| Units | Exchanged from Lattice, and earned in limited quantities from Battle Passes, achievements and events | Purchasing eligible cosmetics or other in-game offers that accept Units | Free earnings are limited and vary by activity |
| Chrono Tokens | Seasonal tasks, missions and events | Redeeming Battle Pass rewards | They are progression tokens, not a general store currency |
Do not treat Units and Chrono Tokens as interchangeable. Units represent a spendable currency that can sometimes be earned; Chrono Tokens are earned progression points tied to Battle Pass redemption. Lattice is the direct purchase currency for the Luxury track.
How to use the Battle Pass step by step
- Open the Battle Pass screen. Check the current free rewards, Luxury rewards and any task list that grants Chrono Tokens.
- Decide whether the paid track fits your play schedule. Because a purchased Luxury Pass persists beyond the season, you do not have to finish every level before the season timer reaches zero.
- Purchase Luxury with Lattice if you want its reward set. The price and contents are season-specific; verify both before confirming.
- Complete listed tasks and event objectives. Some ask for matches, while others use a particular activity or participation condition.
- Collect Chrono Tokens and redeem rewards. Claim the nodes you value first if the interface lets you choose an order, then continue completing tasks for later cosmetics.
- After the season changes, return to the Battle Pass menu. Unfinished rewards from a purchased Luxury Pass remain redeemable in later seasons, while a separate event’s expired missions may no longer be available.
Published price and content examples
| Pass or period | Luxury price | Published contents or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Season 0 (2024) | 490 Lattice | Five costumes in the Luxury Battle Pass |
| Season 1 (2025) | 990 Lattice | Ten costumes in the Luxury Battle Pass |
| Season 0 return (May 15–29, 2025) | 590 Lattice | Return offer with no free rewards |
| Season 10 Godbomb (2026) | Not stated in the cited notes | Ten costume sets |
These are historical examples, not a fixed price list. A later season can change both the Lattice cost and the number or type of included cosmetics.
How seasonal events award cosmetics
Events add a separate set of missions, activities or participation goals. Read the event panel for its closing date, because the reward route can disappear when the event ends. Some rewards are free for completing the stated objective; others are placed behind a paid event tier or another requirement.

Season 1: Midnight Features
The Midnight Features event demonstrated the broad reward mix used by seasonal events. Its rewards included limited-time galleries, a costume, a spray, Units, a nameplate and other cosmetic items. The event was not simply another Battle Pass level: it asked players to engage with the event activities and claim the listed rewards before its availability ended.
Season 2 examples
The Season 2 patch notes show three different acquisition conditions:
- Cerebro Database: completing the activity awarded Mantis – Flora Maiden.
- Match milestone: completing nine matches awarded Scarlet Witch – Chaos Gown.
- Twitch Drops: watching eligible broadcasts during the promotion awarded Namor – Will of Galacta, plus a nameplate, spray and emote.
These examples show why the event description matters. A costume may require an in-game activity, a fixed number of matches or an external viewing task; owning the Battle Pass is not a universal substitute for those requirements.

Official notes for the event running September 17 through October 15, 2026 UTC listed a free route to Venom’s President Ozzy costume and related bundle content by completing the Daredevil/Jeff event. Premium rewards in the same event included Rogue’s Slumber Sugah and Jeff the Land Shark’s Shark in Sheep’s Clothing. The free and premium rewards were therefore distinct, and completing the free objective did not grant the premium costumes.

How Twitch Drops work
Twitch Drops are a watch-based route separate from normal mission progression. During an announced window, eligible Marvel Rivals broadcasts grant rewards after you meet the required viewing condition and connect or claim them through the platform’s Drop flow. Availability is controlled by the promotion, not by the Battle Pass’s persistence rule.
Season 10 notes listed Squirrel Girl – Will of Galacta and esports Drops. Some rewards were released in batches, and some were available only during specific weeks. Check the dates and reward schedule before watching: viewing outside the stated window cannot be assumed to qualify, and a later batch may contain a different item.
Store bundles and individual purchases
Most paid cosmetics appear in the in-game store as bundles. NetEase says most costumes can also be purchased individually, so compare the individual listing with the bundle before spending currency. A standard bundle contains a costume, MVP animation, emote, spray and nameplate. Not every promotion must use that exact package, so inspect the contents shown for the particular offer.

Store availability is usually time-limited when the offer has a visible end date. An item leaving the store is not proof that it is permanently gone; it only establishes that the current listing has closed.

What “limited-time” really means
In Marvel Rivals, “limited-time” identifies an end date for an event, store offer or Twitch Drop window. It does not establish a permanent no-return rule. NetEase has documented selected reruns, but has not promised that every limited costume will return or published a complete future rerun calendar.
Documented Season 0 rerun
The Season 0 Battle Pass returned from May 15 to May 29, 2025 for 590 Lattice. The rerun had no free rewards. The announcement said future returns might occur at least two seasons later and cost at least 20% more than the original seasonal rate. That statement describes a policy condition for possible returns, not a guarantee that a particular costume will be selected.
Documented Season 4 rerun
September 2026 official notes recorded a Season 4 Battle Pass rerun from September 11 to September 24, 2026. Together with the Season 0 example, this confirms that selected Battle Passes can be brought back. It still does not provide a schedule for every event reward, store costume or Twitch Drop.

Choosing the right acquisition route
| Route | What you do | Currency or requirement | Availability and return outlook |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free event mission | Complete the listed activity, matches or participation goals | Usually gameplay objectives; Chrono Tokens may be part of related progression | Ends with the event; a future rerun is possible but unpromised |
| Luxury Battle Pass | Buy the paid track, then complete tasks and redeem rewards | Lattice for purchase; Chrono Tokens for redemption | Purchased pass remains usable in later seasons; selected passes have rerun |
| Store bundle or costume | Buy the listed cosmetic in the in-game store | Lattice or Units, according to the listing | Offer can leave the store; no universal return calendar |
| Twitch Drop | Watch eligible broadcasts and claim the Drop during its window | Required watch time and promotion-specific account steps | Window and, sometimes, release week are fixed; future availability is not promised |
A practical checklist before an event ends
- Write down the UTC closing date shown in the event or Drop announcement.
- Separate free objectives from premium rewards so you know which goals are actually achievable without spending.
- Check whether the reward requires matches, a named activity, Chrono Tokens, Lattice, Units or watch time.
- Claim completed rewards in the appropriate event, Battle Pass or Drop interface rather than assuming they will be delivered automatically.
- For a store bundle, expand the contents and compare its price with the individual costume listing.
- If you miss an event, monitor official announcements for a documented rerun, but do not treat rumors or an earlier return as a promise.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Confusing a persistent pass with a persistent event
A purchased Luxury Battle Pass can be completed later. That protection does not automatically extend to Midnight Features, Daredevil/Jeff missions, a store listing or a Twitch Drop window.

Assuming every cosmetic is free
Events often mix free and premium rewards. The September 2026 Daredevil/Jeff event gave a free route to Venom’s President Ozzy while listing Rogue’s and Jeff’s costumes as premium rewards.
Saving the wrong currency
Lattice, Units and Chrono Tokens serve different systems. Before grinding or buying, check the reward panel’s accepted currency and the task that produces it.
Missing a batch or weekly Drop window
Season 10 Drops were not all available at once. A reward could be tied to a particular week or batch, so use the published schedule rather than watching on an arbitrary date.

Reading “limited” as “never again”
Documented Season 0 and Season 4 reruns prove that some content returns. They do not establish a guaranteed return for the specific costume you missed.
The bottom line for players
Play free content first, then match the cosmetic you want to its actual route: mission completion for event rewards, Lattice plus Chrono Tokens for the Luxury Pass, Units or Lattice for store offers, and scheduled viewing for Twitch Drops. Treat every event and Drop as deadline-driven, while using the Luxury Pass’s non-expiring nature to finish its rewards at your own pace. Reruns happen, but only official announcements can confirm one for a particular item.
