A standard Xfinity X1 DVR can record up to six programs at once; the Pace XG1 v1 is an exception with a limit of up to five. Storage hours are a separate limit and depend on your TV tier and DVR setup. Xfinity also offers some services without an X1 DVR that allow two simultaneous recordings and include 20 hours of storage. Check your plan and equipment because these figures do not apply to every Xfinity household.

How many shows can Xfinity record at once?

Xfinity’s published limit for a standard X1 DVR is up to six simultaneous recordings. The Pace XG1 v1 is listed for up to five. Some services, including Xfinity On Campus and the legacy Choice TV Select tier, allow two simultaneous recordings without an X1 DVR and include 20 hours of DVR storage. Availability and equipment depend on the service you have.

These are simultaneous recording limits: they describe how many programs can be recorded when their schedules overlap. They are not the number of shows stored on the DVR or the number of devices that can stream recordings.

How much DVR storage does Xfinity provide?

Xfinity lists approximately 150 hours for legacy TV tiers with an X1 DVR, with Premium DVR raising that total to 300 hours. Its current overview lists 150 hours for TV Core and 300 hours for other tiers. The applicable amount depends on your plan; check Xfinity’s X1 DVR services overview and your account for the configuration available to you.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Hours are an estimate of how much programming the DVR can hold, not a promise that a fixed number of episodes will fit. Recording duration and content affect how quickly storage fills. Multiple-X1-DVR homes have a distinct configuration: Xfinity describes one terabyte for two X1 DVRs and 1.5 terabytes for three in its whole-home scheduling FAQs. Those figures are for households with multiple X1 DVRs, not the standard capacity for a single-DVR home.

What happens when the DVR is full?

Xfinity says the DVR makes room as needed by replacing older recordings with newer ones, unless a recording is marked For 1 Year. If all available storage is occupied by recordings marked For 1 Year, you must delete a recording to free space. Review recordings you want to keep before storage runs out; retention settings affect whether the system can automatically reclaim space.

Why do recording conflicts happen?

A conflict can occur when more programs are scheduled to record at the same time than the equipment can handle. Xfinity says one-time recordings take priority over series recordings. Within each category, recordings scheduled more recently outrank older scheduled recordings. A conflict may therefore affect a series recording even when it was previously set up.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To address a conflict, review scheduled recordings and decide which program matters most. You can change series priority using Xfinity’s recording-priority instructions. The outcome depends on the equipment and the competing schedules, so verify the recordings you expect to keep.

How Cloud DVR streaming and downloads differ

Cloud DVR has its own access rules and is available only to a limited number of customers in select Comcast areas. Xfinity’s Cloud DVR FAQs state a limit of five devices streaming at the same time. Live TV, DVR streams, and active downloads all count toward that limit. In-progress recordings cannot be streamed outside the home.

Downloading a recording is measured differently from streaming. Xfinity’s download instructions say only completed recordings can be downloaded, and a download is checked out to one device until it is returned. The page lists downloads on up to five mobile devices for DVR recordings, or up to two on select TV packages, and up to 50 downloads per device. These download allowances do not increase the number of programs your DVR can record at once.

What can you record with an X1 DVR?

Xfinity says its DVR can record music channels and broadcast Dolby Digital 5.1 audio when that audio is broadcast. Xfinity On Demand programming cannot be recorded by the DVR. A program scheduled to air and an On Demand title are different: you can watch the latter through On Demand, but cannot save it as a DVR recording.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is also a change to scheduling options. Xfinity Support states that channel-based recordings between designated start and end times are no longer available as of August 2026. Program-based single-episode and series recordings remain available. See Xfinity’s X1 recording instructions for the current options.
