Hellraiser: Revival has weapon upgrades, but the public information available before and at launch does not yet document the upgrade tree, prices, stat changes, or the menu or station used to apply them. What is confirmed is that exploration puzzles can reward upgrades alongside ammunition, crafting resources, and weapons. The game’s equipment includes melee weapons, ranged weapons, and abilities powered by the Genesis Configuration, with inventory management designed around limited-space decisions.
What is confirmed about weapon upgrades
The official Steam demo listing confirms that the full version of Hellraiser: Revival includes an arsenal with weapon upgrades. That establishes upgrades as a real part of the game rather than a feature inferred from a trailer or a preview. It does not, however, identify the weapons, upgrade levels, numerical bonuses, materials, prices, or interface.
Assistant Game Director Vid Rajin has also explained one way players can find useful equipment. Describing the game’s exploration puzzles, he said:

That statement makes two points clear. First, opening locks and safes can produce upgrades. Second, an upgrade is only one possible reward. A particular puzzle may instead give ammunition, a crafting resource, or an entirely new weapon. The sources do not say that every lock contains an upgrade or that puzzles are the only way to improve the arsenal.
The equipment categories that are confirmed
Saber Interactive’s FAQ describes three broad parts of the player’s equipment:
- Melee weapons for close-range combat.
- Ranged weapons for attacks that use ammunition.
- Genesis Configuration abilities, special powers associated with the game’s central device.
The FAQ does not map a named upgrade path to any of those categories. It is therefore accurate to say that upgrades exist within an arsenal containing these types of equipment, but not to claim that every category has the same improvement options.
Inventory management is part of the design
Rajin said, “And you have to manage your inventory in a similar way to the Resident Evil games.” A GamesRadar hands-on guide likewise reports inventory management, melee and ranged combat, weapon durability, and abilities that appear as the game progresses. These details matter when thinking about upgrades: an improvement is not useful in isolation if carrying its ammunition, preserving the weapon, or making room for puzzle rewards creates a larger problem.
The hands-on report does not establish that upgrades increase durability, reduce wear, or otherwise alter how long a weapon lasts. Durability and upgrades should be treated as separate systems until the game’s own descriptions show a direct connection.

How you can obtain upgrades
Search locks and safes
The clearest documented acquisition route is exploration. Lock-picking mechanisms and safe-combination puzzles can reward “some nice upgrades,” in Rajin’s wording. When exploring, this gives optional rooms, locked containers, and combination clues a purpose beyond collecting ammunition. If a puzzle requires a code or a lock-picking sequence, solving it is a plausible way to expand your available equipment.
Because the reward pool is mixed, do not enter every puzzle expecting a weapon modification. The outcome may be a resource, ammunition, a new weapon, or an upgrade. The public description does not specify whether rewards are fixed, randomized, dependent on difficulty, or tied to a particular puzzle.

Do not assume a single upgrade currency
Crafting resources are listed as a possible puzzle reward, but no official material says that upgrades must be purchased with those resources. There is also no published cost, capacity limit, crafting recipe, or exchange rate. Save resources when you can, but do not plan a spending route around an unconfirmed currency system.
Other sources have not been documented
The available official descriptions do not say whether upgrades can be found in ordinary containers, awarded for story progress, earned through combat, built at a workbench, or selected from a menu. They also do not confirm whether a new weapon arrives already upgraded or whether modifications are transferable between weapons. Those are common survival-horror conventions, not established Hellraiser: Revival mechanics.
What an upgrade changes: the published information
No reviewed official source publishes a complete upgrade list or a numerical performance comparison. The following table separates what is established from what remains unanswered.

This is why a precise claim such as “the first shotgun upgrade adds 20 percent damage” would be unsupported. Until in-game text or a reliable demonstration supplies those figures, treat any exact cost or bonus circulating without direct evidence cautiously.

The inventory comments provide a practical constraint even though the upgrade interface is unknown. You will be choosing what to carry while balancing weapons, ammunition, crafting materials, puzzle items, and healing or utility supplies. The following habits fit the confirmed design without assuming an undocumented menu.
Keep a flexible reserve
Do not fill every slot with one ammunition type before opening a locked room. A puzzle can produce a new weapon or an upgrade, and a full inventory may force an unwanted discard. Leave enough space for a meaningful find when you are about to investigate a safe or lock.
Separate immediate use from long-term value
Ammunition solves the next encounter; an upgrade may improve several later encounters. When the game presents a choice about what to retain, consider the weapons you actually use and the amount of ammunition available for them. This is a decision rule, not evidence that the game offers a choice screen or lets you trade one reward for another.
Record clues before spending space
Safe combinations and lock mechanisms can make exploration worthwhile. Note a code or clue in your own records if the game does not preserve it, then return when your inventory has room. That avoids abandoning a possible upgrade because a temporary item consumed the last slot.

Protect rare equipment until its role is clear
If a puzzle produces a new weapon, compare its practical role with what you already carry before discarding anything. The sources confirm that new weapons can be rewards, but do not reveal their ammunition type, durability, or upgrade compatibility. Keeping a reserve until those properties are visible is safer than assuming the newest item is automatically superior.
Using melee weapons, ranged weapons, and Genesis abilities
The three confirmed equipment groups imply different questions when you inspect an upgrade, even though the game has not published the answers.
Melee weapons
For a melee weapon, look for an in-game description that identifies a change to damage, reach, stagger potential, attack speed, durability, or another property. Do not infer a durability bonus simply because the weapon wears down; no public source links those systems.
Ranged weapons
For a ranged weapon, check whether the game labels a change to damage, ammunition capacity, reload behavior, accuracy, or handling. Ammunition is explicitly part of the game’s reward economy, so any ranged improvement should be considered together with how often the required ammunition appears. The available sources do not state that an upgrade saves ammunition or increases a magazine.
Genesis Configuration abilities
The FAQ confirms abilities using the Genesis Configuration, but it does not call them weapon upgrades or describe their progression. Treat an ability unlock as a separate category unless the game itself labels it as an upgrade to a weapon. A new power may change how you approach an encounter without changing a weapon’s statistics.

A reliable way to evaluate an upgrade in the game
When you encounter the first upgrade, use the game’s own labels rather than relying on assumptions from other survival-horror systems.
- Read the full description. Note the affected weapon, the named property, and any warning about compatibility.
- Check the requirement. Record whether the game asks for an item, a quantity of crafting material, a key object, or nothing at all. This establishes the actual cost in your playthrough.
- Check the destination. Observe whether the game applies the change directly, opens a workbench, or uses an inventory or pause-menu command. The public sources do not predefine this step.
- Capture the before-and-after information. If the interface shows bars, numbers, capacity, or durability, note them before confirming and after the change.
- Test the practical effect safely. Use a low-risk encounter or target to see whether the stated property is noticeable. Avoid claiming a numerical gain unless the game displays one or you have a reproducible way to measure it.
- Recheck your inventory. Confirm that ammunition, materials, and the upgraded weapon occupy the expected slots and that no required item was consumed unexpectedly.
This method lets you build an accurate personal upgrade record without treating speculation as a feature list.
Weapon durability and upgrades are not the same thing
Durability has been reported by GamesRadar’s hands-on coverage, while Rajin has discussed inventory management. Neither source says that an upgrade repairs a weapon, extends its lifespan, slows deterioration, or removes durability altogether. If the game shows a durability meter, document it separately from damage or handling values.

A weapon that hits harder may still be a poor choice if it uses scarce ammunition or degrades quickly; conversely, a less powerful weapon may remain valuable if its ammunition is plentiful. Those are sensible play considerations, but the sources do not provide enough data to rank a particular weapon or upgrade.
Release and platform context
Saber Interactive’s FAQ states that Hellraiser: Revival released on October 8, 2026. Because that date and the publisher’s other support statements are time-sensitive, check the current official FAQ for any later correction. The same FAQ says there are no plans for future downloadable content or content updates; that is a publisher position at the time of the statement, not a guarantee that plans can never change.
The FAQ also confirms physical discs for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Edition availability and retail stock can vary by region, so verify the specific edition before buying. A physical-disc release does not provide any information about the upgrade system itself.
What players can conclude today
The dependable answer is narrower than many game guides may suggest. Hellraiser: Revival includes weapon upgrades, and exploration puzzles can supply them along with crafting resources, ammunition, or new weapons. The arsenal covers melee weapons, ranged weapons, and Genesis Configuration abilities, and inventory management is an intentional part of play. Public official material does not yet establish the upgrade tree, resource costs, numerical effects, application location, transfer rules, or a connection between upgrades and durability.
