Rockstar has previewed six named GTA VI radio stations and their hosts, but it has not published a complete station list or playlist. It also announced a separate 34-track original album; Rockstar does not say that album contains the full in-game radio catalogue. Music licensing generally involves rights in both a composition and a specific recording, but Rockstar has not disclosed GTA VI’s track-by-track licensing deals.

What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA VI radio

Rockstar describes GTA VI’s radio as spanning stations from Classic Rock to Talk Radio, alongside podcasts, and calls it the biggest and widest-ranging in-game radio and podcast selection in the series so far. Its official music page currently previews these six stations:

Station Announced sound Named hosts
Cocoteo FM Modern Latin El Martillo and La Gata
Back Country Radio “Renegade country” MW and Delta Dawne
Afro Bank FM Amapiano, African classics, 3-step, and more Burna and Palmsy
The Chamber Metal DJ Kerry and DJ Tom
Flash FM Pop Robyn and Alex
Dirty South Classics Regional rap and hip-hop classics Trick and Trina

These are previews, not a confirmed total. Rockstar has not published the full station catalogue, complete track lists, rotation rules, or a technical explanation of how radio works in play. The announced genres and hosts tell you what each preview is meant to evoke; they do not establish playlist size or how often particular songs will play. Rockstar’s official GTA VI music page is the source for the station descriptions.

Are the radio stations and the GTA VI album the same thing?

No. Rockstar presents Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album in a separate section of its music page, with 34 original tracks and six debut singles. The album announcement does not say that all radio songs appear on it or that it reproduces the game’s station catalogue.

Rockstar lists November 19 as the album date and offers vinyl and CD pre-orders. The official GTA VI product page lists the game’s release date as November 19, 2026, and names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. Album availability and editions can change, so check Rockstar’s current listing for the latest details.

How music licensing for a video game works

A song commonly involves two distinct copyrighted works: the musical composition—the underlying music and lyrics—and the sound recording, which is a particular recorded performance. A game using a specific commercial recording may therefore need permission covering both works.

The U.S. Copyright Office explains the general framework in Copyright and the Music Marketplace: “To incorporate music into an audiovisual work—such as a film, video television program, or video game—the creator of that work must obtain synchronization licenses from both the owner of the musical work and the owner of the sound recording.” Read this as a description of the general rights framework, not as disclosure of Rockstar’s arrangements for GTA VI. What is not known about GTA VI’s music rights

The official Rockstar pages reviewed do not disclose GTA VI-specific licence fees, rights-holder splits, territories, contract durations, or clearances for individual tracks. They also do not establish whether a track announced for the album will appear on a radio station. Trailer music, songs from older GTA games, and common industry practices are not evidence of the rights terms for GTA VI.

What GTA’s radio history can—and cannot—tell you

Radio stations have long been part of the series’ world-building. In a September 9, 2002 announcement, Rockstar and Sony Music described seven soundtrack albums for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, each tied to a radio station, and highlighted radio elements such as commercials, jingles, and DJs parodying real radio formats. That is a record of Vice City and the series’ earlier approach, not a specification for GTA VI. Read the 2002 announcement.
