Short answer: Gran Turismo 7 uses Cr (credits) to buy cars. You can earn credits by progressing through the game, and optional credit packs can also be purchased with real money. Some high-priced cars add an invitation requirement, so having enough credits alone may not be sufficient. The current PlayStation description for the free Spec III (version 1.65) update says it added “unlimited car invitations in Brand Central,” but it does not publish invitation odds, expiry rules, or a complete list of affected cars.
This distinction matters: an invitation is permission to purchase an eligible car, not a coupon for a free car. You still pay the listed credit price after meeting the invitation condition.

What credits do in Gran Turismo 7
Credits, shown as Cr, are GT7’s spendable in-game currency. Brand Central vehicles are purchased with credits, normally earned as prize money while you progress through the game. PlayStation’s current GT7 information also describes credits as available either through progression or through paid add-ons. That means real-money credits exist, but they are not the only route to buying cars.

If a car is available and you have enough Cr, you can buy it unless that model also has an invitation requirement. If you cannot afford an available vehicle, the online manual says you can place it on a wish list and receive a notification when it returns. The same wish-list option is useful when a car is temporarily sold out.

How you earn credits without paying extra
Progression-earned credits come from playing: events award prize money, and roulette tickets can provide assorted rewards, including invitations. The official material does not establish a universal credits-per-hour rate, a current complete event payout table, or a guaranteed best farming route. Payouts can depend on the event, result and applicable bonuses, so avoid treating old community grind figures as current guarantees.
Polyphony Digital’s March 25, 2022 economy update is useful historical context, not a present-day payout schedule. In that announcement, the company said rewards in events in the latter half of World Circuits would increase by “approximately 100% on average.” It also announced that the upper limit for non-paid credits in a player wallet would rise from 20 million Cr. to 100 million Cr. Those were changes announced for that update period; they should not be read as a promise that every event now pays twice as much or that every account has a particular balance.
How to spend credits in Brand Central
- Open Brand Central from the GT World map.
- Choose the manufacturer and model you want.
- Check the displayed credit price and any invitation notice before confirming.
- If the purchase button is available and you satisfy the conditions, confirm the transaction. The credits are deducted from your in-game balance.
- If the car is unaffordable or unavailable, add it to your wish list so the game can notify you when it returns.
Prices, availability and eligibility are properties of the individual listing. Do not assume that an invitation changes the price, grants a discount or reserves the car indefinitely.

An invitation is a separate purchase condition attached to certain expensive cars. The official online manual describes invitations as obtainable by playing the game and through roulette tickets. In practical terms, you may need both items below:
- Enough credits to cover the car’s listed price.
- A valid invitation for that manufacturer or model, when the listing requires one.
Meeting only one condition is not enough. An invitation does not transfer credits to your account, and a large credit balance does not bypass an invitation gate.
Invitation sources documented by official guidance
The manual names gameplay and roulette tickets as ways invitations can be obtained. “Gameplay” is intentionally broad in that documentation; it does not provide a single guaranteed activity or a published timetable for every invitation. Roulette tickets are another documented route, but the official sources considered here do not state ticket probabilities or guarantee that a particular ticket will produce a specific manufacturer’s invitation.

What Spec III changed
PlayStation’s current GT7 update description identifies the free Spec III update, version 1.65, as adding “unlimited car invitations in Brand Central.” The update description also says an internet connection is required. This is the current platform wording and is the most important qualification for players worried that invitations are permanently inaccessible.

The published description does not enumerate every car covered, explain whether all previous ticket-related scarcity disappears, specify an expiry period, or publish invitation odds. If Brand Central shows a particular invitation option in your current version, follow the on-screen terms for that listing. Keep the game connected and updated so you are seeing the current Brand Central behavior rather than an older menu state.
Buying a car when an invitation is involved
Use this checklist before spending credits on an expensive model:
- Open the listing. Read the model’s price and status in Brand Central.
- Identify the gate. Look for an invitation requirement in addition to the credit price.
- Check your balance. An invitation alone does not make the purchase affordable.
- Check availability. A car can be unavailable or sold out even when you have the required credits and invitation.
- Use the wish list if necessary. The manual says it can notify you when an unaffordable or sold-out car returns.
- Confirm the transaction. Only finalize after verifying that the displayed car, price and conditions are the ones you intend to accept.
If a purchase remains locked, diagnose the cause rather than buying more credits immediately. The lock may indicate no invitation, insufficient Cr, a temporary sale status or a connection/update issue. The official material does not provide a universal error-code guide, so the exact message on your screen is the best starting point.
Are GT7 credit packs required?
No. Paid credits are optional. The official GT7 page explicitly recognizes credits earned through game progression as well as credits purchased with real money. You can therefore play, earn prize money and buy cars without purchasing a credit add-on. A paid pack is an alternative funding method, not an entry fee for the game’s car market.

Store prices, currencies, taxes, promotions and package availability can change by country and over time. Check the PlayStation Store for your account’s region immediately before purchasing; do not rely on an old price displayed in a guide. The listed denominations also do not tell you how many credits a particular car will require, because vehicle prices vary.
Progression versus a paid add-on

Neither route eliminates an invitation requirement when a listing has one. Buying credits can solve an affordability problem, but it cannot be described as a guaranteed way to unlock every expensive car.
Internet, updates and platform considerations
The current Spec III description says an internet connection is required for that update. GT7’s Brand Central and availability notices are therefore best interpreted with the game updated and connected. If the game is offline, an invitation option or availability state may not match the current online service behavior. Before troubleshooting a missing invitation, install the latest available update for your PS4 or PS5 copy, sign in to the relevant PlayStation account and reconnect.
The game is available on PS4 and PS5. The credit and invitation concepts described here apply to GT7’s shared game economy, while the exact menu presentation can vary with version and platform. This article does not assume a particular edition, bundle or retailer listing.

“I have enough credits, so every car should be purchasable.”
Not necessarily. Certain expensive cars have an invitation condition. Check the listing instead of treating credits as the only gate.
“An invitation means the car is free.”
No. The invitation is an additional eligibility requirement. You still need the displayed number of Cr and must complete the purchase.
“Roulette tickets are the only way to get invitations.”
The manual also identifies gameplay as a source, and the current Spec III description says Brand Central has unlimited car invitations. The official pages do not support reducing the system to roulette tickets alone.

“Unlimited invitations means every scarcity rule and expiry detail is published.”
The update wording does not provide that level of detail. It confirms the feature name, not a complete table of odds, expiration terms or coverage for every vehicle.
“The 2022 reward announcement is a current payout chart.”
It is historical context. Polyphony Digital’s statements about an approximately 100% average increase and the 20-million-to-100-million non-paid wallet-cap change describe that 2022 adjustment, not a universal current event rate.
A practical decision path for a target car
- Find the car in Brand Central. Record its displayed price and whether an invitation is shown.
- Separate the two requirements. Treat the invitation as an eligibility check and Cr as the payment.
- Choose your credit source. Continue earning prize money through progression, or voluntarily use an available store add-on if you want to add credits directly.
- Resolve the invitation status. Review the current Brand Central invitation option, gameplay rewards and any roulette-ticket result. Do not infer odds or expiry rules that the game does not display.
- Confirm current availability. If the listing is sold out or otherwise unavailable, add it to your wish list and wait for the notification.
- Buy only after both conditions are visible. Verify the price, invitation status and account balance on the confirmation screen.
What the official information does—and does not—answer
The documented rules establish that credits are the currency for cars, that progression and optional purchases are both recognized credit sources, and that invitations are an extra condition for certain expensive models. They also establish that the Spec III (1.65) update is described as adding unlimited car invitations in Brand Central.
They do not establish a universal credits-per-hour figure, a complete current event payout table, invitation probabilities, a single expiry period for every invitation, or an exhaustive list of all cars affected by the “unlimited” wording. Those values can change with updates, region or listing status. Use the current in-game display and PlayStation Store page for volatile details rather than treating an old guide as a guarantee.
