Golden Goose does not publish one universal “true to size” rule for every sneaker. Its official guide converts Italian sizes by foot length and tells shoppers to read the fit information on each product page. Measure both feet, use the longer measurement with the correct women’s or men’s chart, then confirm the model’s notes and your local exchange terms before ordering.
How do Golden Goose sizes run?
Golden Goose publishes a length-based conversion chart rather than a blanket claim that all of its sneakers run small, large or exactly true to size. The chart maps Italian (IT) labels to foot length in centimetres and to UK, US, Japanese (JP) and Korean (KR) labels. Those conversions tell you which labelled size corresponds to your measured length; they do not prove that every silhouette has the same interior shape.
The brand’s own sizing guidance says to check the individual product description for fit details. A model page may provide information that the general chart cannot, such as a stated fit or a recommendation for that particular design. If the measurement and the product information still leave you unsure, Golden Goose directs shoppers to contact customer service.

What the official Golden Goose size chart actually tells you
The official guide covers “Sneakers & shoes” and separates women’s and men’s tables. Use the table that matches the chart category for the item you are buying; do not assume that a US number has the same IT mapping in both categories.
| Chart category and Golden Goose label | Foot length | UK | US | JP | KR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Women’s IT 34 | 22.3 cm | 1 | 4 | 22.5 cm | 225 mm |
| Women’s IT 38 | 25.0 cm | 5 | 8 | 25.0 cm | 250 mm |
| Women’s IT 42 | 27.7 cm | 9 | 12 | 27.5 cm | 275 mm |
| Men’s IT 39 | 25.7 cm | 5 | 6 | 26.0 cm | 260 mm |
| Men’s IT 42 | 27.7 cm | 8 | 9 | 27.5 cm | 275 mm |
| Men’s IT 46 | 30.4 cm | 12 | 13 | 30.0 cm | 300 mm |
| Men’s IT 50 | 33.0 cm | 16 | 17 | 33.0 cm | 330 mm |
These are selected entries from Golden Goose’s undated official size guide, not a replacement for its complete chart. For example, women’s IT 38 corresponds to a 25.0 cm foot length in that guide; it is not a measured fit-success rate. Notice that regional labels overlap across the two categories: a men’s IT 42 is listed as US 9, while a women’s IT 42 is listed as US 12. That is why converting from a US number without first identifying the relevant chart can produce the wrong Italian size.
How to measure your feet accurately
Measure at home before opening the product page. The official method is simple, but small changes in posture or where you place the ruler can move you into a different chart entry.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Prepare a flat surface. Put a sheet of paper on the floor with one edge against a wall. Wear the type of socks you expect to wear with the sneakers, or measure barefoot if that is how you normally wear them.
- Set your heel against the wall. Stand naturally with your heel touching the wall and your weight distributed as it would be when walking. Do not curl your toes or pull your foot shorter.
- Mark the longest toe. Make a small mark at the farthest point of the toe on the paper. The longest toe is not necessarily the big toe.
- Measure from the wall to the mark. Use a straight ruler or tape and record the distance in centimetres. Keep the measuring tool parallel to the edge of the paper.
- Repeat for the other foot. Feet often differ in length. Record both numbers rather than measuring one foot and assuming the other is identical.
- Use the longer measurement. Compare the longer foot with the correct women’s or men’s Golden Goose chart. This avoids selecting a size that fits only the shorter foot.
Golden Goose’s English guide contains a typographical error in its measurement wording. The intended instruction is the wall-and-paper method above; the typo should not be treated as a separate technique.
How do I choose the right Golden Goose sneaker size?
Use a three-part decision: measured length, the named model’s fit note and the purchase region’s exchange rules. None of these alone can answer every fit question.
1. Match the longer foot to the right chart
Identify whether the item is presented under the women’s or men’s chart, then find the closest listed foot-length value and its IT label. Keep the IT label as your primary reference because the product’s size selector and physical label use that system. Record the UK, US, JP or KR equivalent only as a cross-check for the store or region where you are shopping.
2. Read the individual product description
Open the exact sneaker’s product page, not just the general sneaker catalogue. Golden Goose specifically recommends checking each product description for fit details. Apply that information to the chart result instead of assuming that a different model’s advice transfers to the pair you want.

3. Resolve uncertainty before paying
If your measurement falls between chart values, if your two feet differ noticeably, or if the product page does not answer your question, contact Golden Goose customer service before ordering. The official materials do not establish a universal half-size adjustment, so do not invent one from a conversion table.
4. Check the purchase region’s remedy
Before checkout, read the current return policy for the country or store handling the order. Golden Goose’s US FAQ says returns or exchanges can be requested under the Return Policy, while its services information describes size exchange when the requested item is available. Eligibility, stock, deadlines and other conditions can vary by location and item, so confirm those details for your order rather than relying on a policy from another region.
Why a chart conversion cannot predict the whole fit
A foot-length chart addresses one dimension: how long the foot is from heel to the longest toe. It does not establish the width, volume, toe-box shape, instep height or amount of room inside a particular sneaker. The available official material does not provide model-by-model width measurements or independent testing that would let you predict comfort from the centimetre number alone.
That limitation matters if you have a wide forefoot, a narrow heel, a high instep, orthotic requirements or feet with substantially different shapes. In those cases, give the product-specific fit note more weight than a generic claim about how the brand “runs,” and ask customer service for clarification when the page is silent. A correct length conversion cannot guarantee that the upper or toe box will suit every foot shape.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →How to compare Golden Goose with another brand
Do not begin with the numeric label you wear elsewhere. Start by measuring your feet in centimetres, then identify the Golden Goose IT size associated with the longer measurement. A US 8, UK 5 or another familiar number may represent a different IT size depending on whether you are using the women’s or men’s table. Once you have the Golden Goose label, compare the other brand only as a secondary reference.
Even when two brands list the same foot length, their uppers, linings and toe boxes can be shaped differently. A conversion chart can establish a starting size, but it cannot certify that two sneakers will feel identical. The exact Golden Goose product description and the seller’s exchange conditions remain more useful than a reputation that the entire brand runs either small or large.
How to avoid regional conversion mistakes
- Do not treat US labels as universal. The selected chart entries show different US values for the same IT number in women’s and men’s tables.
- Start with centimetres. Your measured foot length is the common reference that Golden Goose uses in both tables.
- Keep JP and KR units distinct. The guide lists JP in centimetres and KR in millimetres; 25.0 cm and 250 mm describe the same length but are displayed in different units.
- Use the label shown by the seller. Golden Goose’s FAQ explains that the size shown for an item corresponds to the size on its label, with conversions supplied in the detailed guide.
- Verify the chart category. A familiar regional number can point to a different IT size if you switch from the women’s table to the men’s table.
Worked examples using the chart
A 25.0 cm longer foot
If the longer of your two measured feet is exactly 25.0 cm, the selected women’s chart entry is IT 38, also shown as UK 5, US 8, JP 25.0 cm and KR 250 mm. That is a conversion example from the official chart. You still need to read the specific sneaker’s fit note before placing the order.

- Rubber sole
- Distressed design, Terry cloth lining, Removable insole, Glitter star patch and heel, Perforated toecap
A 27.7 cm longer foot
At 27.7 cm, the selected women’s entry is IT 42 (UK 9, US 12, JP 27.5 cm, KR 275 mm). The selected men’s entry at the same 27.7 cm is IT 42 (UK 8, US 9, JP 27.5 cm, KR 275 mm). The identical length but different regional labels illustrates why the chart category must be confirmed first.
A 30.4 cm longer foot
In the selected men’s entries, 30.4 cm corresponds to IT 46, UK 12, US 13, JP 30.0 cm and KR 300 mm. This is not evidence that the model has a particular width or that another category will use the same regional conversion.
What if the sneaker is listed by a marketplace or retailer?
The Golden Goose sneaker catalogue confirms the direct product category, but size selection, delivery and stock are handled on individual product pages. If you buy through a marketplace or another retailer, verify the precise model name, the IT label used in the listing, the available sizes and the seller’s return terms. A generic “Golden Goose” listing may combine several silhouettes or use a regional size selector that hides the underlying IT number.
Use the official chart and the exact product description as your sizing references, then check whether the retailer accepts a size exchange in your country. Availability can change, and an exchange option is useful only if the replacement size is actually in stock. Keep screenshots or order details showing the selected label in case customer service needs to identify the item.
What to do when your measurement sits between sizes
The official chart provides discrete conversion entries, and the available guidance does not specify a general rule for rounding up, rounding down or selecting a half size. Treat an in-between result as a reason to gather more information rather than as permission to apply an automatic adjustment.
- Recheck both feet using the wall method, standing normally and measuring to the farthest toe.
- Confirm that you used centimetres and the correct chart category.
- Read the exact product description for fit guidance.
- Ask Golden Goose customer service which labelled size is appropriate for that model and measurement.
- Verify whether an exchange would be possible if the chosen size is unavailable or unsuitable.
Returns and size exchanges: plan before ordering
Golden Goose’s FAQ states that the labelled size is the size shown for the item and provides a detailed conversion guide. Its US FAQ directs customers to the Return Policy for returns or exchanges. Separately, the brand’s services page describes a size-exchange service when the desired item is available.
Those statements are region-dependent: the sizing chart reviewed here came from Golden Goose’s Canadian English locale, while the policy references are from US materials. Check the policy displayed for your delivery country and the specific item. Confirm the request window, condition requirements, exclusions, shipping arrangements and whether replacement stock exists. A theoretical exchange option is not a guarantee that your size will be held when you contact the company.

Common sizing mistakes and fixes
Choosing from memory
Problem: You order the same numeric size you wear in another brand. Fix: Measure both feet and map the longer length to Golden Goose’s chart; another brand’s label is not a substitute for that conversion.
Measuring only one foot
Problem: The shorter foot determines the order, leaving the longer foot cramped. Fix: Measure each foot and use the longer result.
Using a US number without checking the category
Problem: You convert a US size directly and select the wrong IT label. Fix: Identify the women’s or men’s table first, then confirm the IT size and centimetre value.
Assuming every model fits alike
Problem: You treat a general brand reputation as a guarantee for a particular silhouette. Fix: Read the named product’s fit details and contact customer service if they are unclear.
Ignoring width and shape
Problem: The length matches, but the sneaker still feels wrong across the forefoot, heel or instep. Fix: Recognize that the official chart does not predict width or toe-box fit; seek model-specific information before purchase.
Checking exchange terms after delivery
Problem: A replacement is unavailable or the local policy differs from the policy you read elsewhere. Fix: Review the applicable regional policy and stock conditions before checkout.

A practical pre-order checklist
- Both feet measured on paper with each heel against a wall.
- Longer foot recorded in centimetres.
- Women’s or men’s chart category confirmed.
- IT label selected from the official chart.
- Regional conversion checked without substituting a different chart.
- Exact sneaker product page reviewed for fit information.
- Questions about an in-between measurement or foot shape sent to customer service.
- Return and size-exchange rules checked for the delivery country, item and current stock.
Bottom line for Golden Goose sizing
Golden Goose sizing is best treated as a measured-length conversion followed by model-specific verification, not as a single brand-wide “runs small” or “runs true to size” rule. Measure both feet, use the longer measurement with the appropriate chart, confirm the exact product’s fit notes, and check local exchange conditions before ordering. That process is the most defensible way to choose a labelled size when the brand does not publish one universal fit rule.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Golden Goose sneakers run true to size?
Golden Goose does not state one universal true-to-size rule. Use the official foot-length chart, then read the fit details on the exact product page.
Should I size up or down if I am between sizes?
The official guidance does not provide a general rounding or half-size rule. Re-measure both feet, check the model notes and ask customer service rather than applying an automatic adjustment.
Which foot should determine my Golden Goose size?
Measure both feet and use the longer measurement with the appropriate women’s or men’s chart.
Why do the US conversions differ for the same IT size?
Golden Goose uses separate women’s and men’s tables. For example, IT 42 is listed as US 12 in the selected women’s entry and US 9 in the selected men’s entry.
Can I exchange Golden Goose sneakers for another size?
Golden Goose’s US FAQ refers customers to its Return Policy, and its services page describes size exchange when the requested item is available. Eligibility, deadlines and stock depend on the region and item.
Does the chart tell me whether a sneaker is wide or narrow?
No. The chart addresses foot length and regional conversions, not width, volume, toe-box shape or instep height. Use model-specific information or contact customer service for those concerns.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Measure both feet, match the longer length to the correct Golden Goose chart, read the exact model’s fit note and verify regional exchange terms before ordering.
