Flipkart sale orders normally move through the same marketplace fulfilment system used outside sale events. A buyer places an order, Flipkart groups the items into shipments, a seller prepares each shipment according to its fulfilment model, and a logistics partner or the seller completes delivery. Higher sale demand can affect stock and processing, but there is no single sale-period delivery promise that applies to every order.
The practical difference is on the seller side: Fulfilment by Flipkart (FBF) puts storage, packing and shipping operations with Flipkart, while Non-Fulfilment by Flipkart (NFBF) leaves storage and packing with the seller before a Flipkart agent collects the parcel. Buyers should rely on the estimate and tracking shown for their own order.
What “fulfilment” means during a Flipkart sale
Fulfilment covers the operational work between checkout and completion: assigning inventory, creating shipments, picking and packing products, printing invoices and labels, handing parcels to a delivery network, updating tracking, and handling returns or other post-delivery services.
A sale changes the volume and timing of orders, not necessarily the underlying workflow. Flipkart still treats the purchase as a customer order containing one or more order items. Those items are then organized into shipments that can be processed and handed over together. The route, carrier, seller location and delivery estimate depend on the specific order.

How a buyer’s sale order moves from checkout to delivery
- Checkout creates an order. The order represents the products bought in one checkout session. Each particular product in that order is an order item.
- Flipkart assigns fulfilment locations. The platform assigns the order to a seller location, with the documentation describing delivery-time considerations such as the fastest available delivery time as the basis. The seller must fulfil from that assigned location rather than redirecting the order to another seller location.
- Items are grouped into shipments. A shipment contains order items that the seller picks, packs and hands over together. Items in one checkout can therefore receive separate shipment records and tracking events.
- The seller prepares the shipment. Depending on the workflow, the seller either packs the item for a Flipkart-assigned logistics partner or manages the full physical delivery process under self-ship.
- Handover and tracking begin. In a logistics-managed workflow, the package is handed to the assigned delivery partner after the required label and invoice are prepared. Tracking updates are attached to the shipment, not just to the broad checkout record.
- Delivery, returns or refunds follow the order’s available services. If something goes wrong, the buyer uses the order-specific support route for delivery, cancellation, return or refund issues.
Why the delivery date can differ between items
One checkout can split into multiple shipments, including shipments fulfilled by different sellers. A shipment cannot combine items from different customer orders, but a single customer order can contain several shipment groups. As a result, products bought together may show different dispatch events, carriers or estimated delivery dates.
Who ships a Flipkart order?
There are two useful ways to understand this question. Seller guidance describes FBF and NFBF as the main operational choices. Flipkart’s API documentation separately describes Standard Fulfilment and Self Ship Fulfilment. The API labels describe documented workflows and should not be assumed to match every Seller Hub screen or service name exactly.
| Documented workflow | Who packs | Who handles delivery logistics | Post-delivery responsibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Fulfilment | The seller prepares and packs the shipment. | Flipkart handles logistics after the seller hands the package to the assigned delivery partner. | The logistics process follows Flipkart’s shipment workflow. |
| Self Ship Fulfilment | The seller packs the product. | The seller handles dispatch and physical delivery. | The seller handles post-delivery services, such as installation or assembly, where those services are part of the order’s defined service levels. |
For a buyer, the reliable answer is the information on the order page: it identifies the shipment status, estimate and tracking path for that purchase. A sale banner or product-page promise should not be treated as proof that every item will use the same carrier or arrive on the same date.
Does a Flipkart sale guarantee faster delivery?
No general sale-specific delivery window or guarantee is established for all Flipkart sale purchases. Delivery depends on the item, inventory location, seller, assigned shipment, destination, logistics capacity and the estimate displayed for that order. A sale may increase demand and create more work for sellers and carriers, but that fact alone does not create a universal buyer entitlement, compensation rule or guaranteed faster service.
Check the promised date and current status in the order details. If the estimate changes, the parcel is late, or a shipment is cancelled, use the relevant order-management or delivery-help option rather than relying on an average delivery time for the sale.

How to track or get help with a sale order
- Sign in to Flipkart. Open your account and go to the recent orders or order-management area.
- Select the affected order. If the checkout was split, open each shipment separately; one item may be moving while another is still being prepared.
- Read the shipment estimate and status. Use the date shown for that shipment, not a general sale advertisement or another item in the same checkout.
- Open the applicable issue route. The Help Centre organizes support for delivery, order management, cancellation, returns and refunds.
- Keep shipment details ready. The order number, item, shipment status and any tracking event help support identify the correct parcel.
For a late or cancelled item, contact support through the official Help Centre linked from your account. Return and refund eligibility can depend on the product and order conditions, so follow the option presented for that specific purchase.
What Fulfilment by Flipkart means for sellers
Under FBF, Flipkart takes responsibility for the main warehouse and outbound operations. The seller’s inventory is stored through Flipkart’s fulfilment network, and Flipkart handles picking, packing, shipping and delivery. Seller guidance also associates FBF with warehouse storage, quality checks, return handling and claims of faster delivery. Those operational benefits come with FBF fees.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFBF can reduce the seller’s day-to-day packing and carrier coordination during a sale. The trade-off is less control over the physical fulfilment steps and a cost structure tied to the FBF service and the seller’s other applicable charges.
What Non-Fulfilment by Flipkart means for sellers
With NFBF, the seller keeps the product in its own inventory, picks and packs the order, and prepares it for collection. A Flipkart agent then performs the scheduled pickup. Flipkart provides delivery tracking and return support, while the seller retains more control over storage and packing operations.

NFBF uses normal shipping costs rather than the FBF fee structure. The shipping amount depends on whether the movement is local, zonal or national. The seller therefore needs to account for destination mix, packing capacity and pickup cut-off times when planning for a sale.
FBF and NFBF compared
| Decision point | FBF | NFBF |
|---|---|---|
| Inventory storage | Flipkart stores the seller’s inventory through its fulfilment operation. | The seller stores the inventory. |
| Packing | Flipkart handles packing. | The seller packs the order before pickup. |
| Pickup and shipping | Flipkart manages outbound shipping and delivery. | A Flipkart agent collects the seller-packed parcel; Flipkart provides delivery tracking. |
| Returns | Return handling is included in the described FBF operation. | Flipkart provides return support under the described NFBF operation. |
| Fee basis | FBF fees apply. | Normal shipping costs apply and vary with local, zonal or national movement. |
| Operational control | The seller has less control over warehouse and packing steps. | The seller controls storage and packing but must meet pickup and preparation requirements. |
The better choice depends on inventory velocity, warehouse space, packing labour, destination mix and the seller’s current account charges. A high-volume sale can make outsourced storage and packing attractive, while a seller with established fulfilment capacity may prefer to retain physical control.

For standard or logistics-managed fulfilment
- Review the shipment assigned to the seller location and confirm that the required item is available there.
- Pick the order items belonging to that shipment.
- Pack the products according to the applicable packaging requirements.
- Generate and attach the required shipping label and invoice.
- Hand the parcel to the Flipkart-assigned delivery partner.
- Update or monitor shipment states until delivery, return or another final state is recorded.
For self-ship fulfilment
- Pick and pack the item at the seller’s facility.
- Provide the dispatch and logistics details required by the order workflow.
- Arrange and complete physical delivery.
- Meet the order’s defined service levels for dispatch and delivery.
- Handle post-delivery services, including installation or assembly when the order requires them.
These API workflows are operational descriptions, not a guarantee that every account dashboard uses identical labels or controls. Sellers should follow the instructions and status transitions shown in their own account.
Fees, sale planning and payment expectations
Seller fees depend on fulfilment type, product category, shipping method and selling price. A public standard rate card can change, so a figure seen in a general fee page should be treated as dated and illustrative unless the seller confirms it in the logged-in account. Check the account before pricing sale inventory or calculating margin.

Flipkart’s seller landing material advertises payment “7 days* from the date of dispatch of your order.” The conditions represented by the asterisk are not available in that statement, so it should not be treated as an unconditional payment promise. Sellers should rely on the payment terms and settlement information displayed for their account and orders.

Shipping labels and invoices are required to process shipments. A thermal shipping-label printer can be useful when a seller prints labels in volume, but it is an optional productivity tool rather than a stated Flipkart requirement. Before buying one, confirm the label format, connection method and printing workflow used by the seller account.
- Keep sale inventory synchronized with the assigned fulfilment location.
- Set packing cut-off times that leave room for pickup or dispatch service levels.
- Separate shipment batches so items from different orders are not combined.
- Check labels and invoices before handover.
- Monitor failed pickups, rejected scans and return statuses instead of assuming that a packed parcel has entered transit.
Common problems and the right response
The buyer sees different dates for items bought together
Open each shipment. The order may have been split because items came from different sellers or required separate processing. Follow the estimate attached to each shipment.
A shipment has no recent tracking update
Check whether the seller has dispatched it or whether a pickup is still pending. If the order’s estimated date is at risk, use the delivery issue route in the Help Centre.

What buyers and sellers should remember
For buyers, a Flipkart sale order is a shipment-based process: one checkout can produce multiple parcels, dates and tracking records. The order page is the authoritative place to check progress, and the official Help Centre is the route for late delivery, cancellation, return and refund issues.
For sellers, the central decision is who controls the physical operation. FBF transfers storage, packing and shipping work to Flipkart for applicable fees. NFBF keeps storage and packing with the seller, followed by scheduled pickup and Flipkart-supported tracking and returns. API documentation adds a separate standard-versus-self-ship distinction, so sellers should match the documented workflow to the controls and terms in their own account.
