At Evo 2026 USA, the 12 featured fighting-game tournaments share a published total prize pool of $500,000. The pool is not divided equally among the games: each game’s registration rank determines its pool, and the top eight finishers in that game split the amount according to a fixed percentage schedule. That means the first-place prize depends on the game’s assigned pool, not on a single tournament-wide payout.
How Evo’s 2026 USA featured-event payouts work
Think of the system as two calculations. First, Evo assigns a dollar pool to each featured game based on that game’s registration rank. Then it distributes that game’s pool among its top eight finishers using the published placement percentages. A player’s payout therefore depends on the game they entered, its registration rank, and their final placement.
Evo’s official 2026 USA event page lists a $500,000 total for the featured games and says game allocations are determined by total registrations, ordered from the most-registered game to the least-registered. In other words, “Game 1” below means the game with the highest registration count in the featured lineup; it does not mean a particular title that has been named in advance.

| Registration rank in the featured lineup | Pool assigned to that game |
|---|---|
| Game 1 | $100,000 |
| Game 2 | $70,000 |
| Game 3 | $60,000 |
| Games 4–6 | $40,000 each |
| Games 7–8 | $30,000 each |
| Games 9–10 | $25,000 each |
| Games 11–12 | $20,000 each |
The schedule adds up to $500,000: $100,000 + $70,000 + $60,000 + three $40,000 pools + two $30,000 pools + two $25,000 pools + two $20,000 pools. It is a ranked allocation, not one equal share per game. The actual title attached to each rank depends on the registration counts for that event; the dollar schedule alone does not identify which game receives which tier.

How the prize money is split within a game
For each featured game, Evo’s published schedule allocates the pool among eight competitors. Fifth place and seventh place are each shared by two players, so the eight paid competitors represent four individual placements with ties at those ranks.
| Final placement | Share of that game’s pool | Number of competitors at that placement |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 40% | 1 |
| 2nd | 20% | 1 |
| 3rd | 15% | 1 |
| 4th | 10% | 1 |
| 5th | 6% per competitor | 2 |
| 7th | 1.5% per competitor | 2 |
The total is 100%: 40% + 20% + 15% + 10% + (2 × 6%) + (2 × 1.5%). Each tied finisher receives the listed share individually, rather than splitting one placement’s share with the other player.
Calculated example: a $100,000 game pool
Applying Evo’s percentages to the highest-ranked game’s $100,000 pool gives the following amounts. These are calculations from the published schedule, not a report of a particular game’s results.

| Placement | Calculation | Payout per competitor |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | $100,000 × 40% | $40,000 |
| 2nd | $100,000 × 20% | $20,000 |
| 3rd | $100,000 × 15% | $15,000 |
| 4th | $100,000 × 10% | $10,000 |
| Each 5th-place finisher | $100,000 × 6% | $6,000 |
| Each 7th-place finisher | $100,000 × 1.5% | $1,500 |
Calculated example: a $20,000 game pool
The same percentages apply to a $20,000 pool, but the amounts are smaller. This illustrates why the same placement does not imply the same dollar award across every featured tournament.
| Placement | Calculation | Payout per competitor |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | $20,000 × 40% | $8,000 |
| 2nd | $20,000 × 20% | $4,000 |
| 3rd | $20,000 × 15% | $3,000 |
| 4th | $20,000 × 10% | $2,000 |
| Each 5th-place finisher | $20,000 × 6% | $1,200 |
| Each 7th-place finisher | $20,000 × 1.5% | $300 |
To estimate a listed placement’s gross award for another game, multiply that game’s assigned pool by the relevant percentage. For example, second place is 20% of the game pool, while each seventh-place finisher receives 1.5%. These figures describe the published prize calculation; they do not establish what a player ultimately keeps after any obligations or deductions.
Does every game at Evo have the same prize pool?
No. In the 2026 USA featured lineup, the pool varies by registration rank, from $100,000 for the most-registered game to $20,000 for each of the two lowest-ranked games. The placement percentages are the same across those game pools, but the dollar awards are not. A 40% first-place share is $40,000 from a $100,000 pool and $8,000 from a $20,000 pool.

That distinction also explains why a headline total such as “$500,000 in prizes” does not tell a competitor what first place pays in a specific bracket. To work that out, identify the exact event and year, confirm whether the tournament is featured, find its assigned game pool, and apply the placement percentage. If the game’s registration rank or pool has not been published, the amount cannot be calculated from the total alone.

“Evo prize pool” can refer to different arrangements, so event year and tournament category matter. Evo’s official 2025 USA FAQ described a $30,000 minimum guaranteed pool for featured tournaments, shared among their top eight finalists. For selected extended tournaments, it described the prize pool as the total of entries in that game’s bracket. Those are different ways of setting a pool: a stated minimum guarantee for featured events versus an entry-total pool for the selected extended bracket.
The 2026 USA featured-event page publishes a registration-rank allocation for its featured lineup. That should not be blended with the 2025 description or treated as proof that all side tournaments follow the same formula. The year, event location, and featured-versus-extended status are essential when comparing an amount or explaining how it was set.

How competitors reach the paid placements
The payout schedule begins with final placement; tournament rules determine how players reach it. Evo’s official rules describe most sets as best two out of three games. Sets that determine the top three placements—Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals—are best three out of five. The rules describe progression through pools into a double-elimination semifinal bracket, and say finalists receive medals and tournament prizing according to their ultimate placement.
Those match formats and bracket stages provide context for the path to a paid finish, but they do not alter the percentage schedule. The financial calculation is based on the final rank and the pool assigned to that game, rather than on the number of sets a player won or the round at which a loss occurred.
Why entrant counts need careful reading
Registration count affects the 2026 featured-game pool tier, but event statistics can count different things. A person may enter more than one game, so bracket entries are not necessarily the same as individual competitors. Evo’s published history illustrates the difference across years:

- In 2010, Evo’s history page says Street Fighter IV exceeded 1,800 competitors, a record at the time, and that the game’s success helped secure a guaranteed $20,000 pool.
- For Evo 2023, the history page reports 7,083 Street Fighter 6 competitors and 9,182 unique entrants. Those figures describe different counts, not contradictory totals.
- For Evo 2024, the history page reports 16,252 bracket entries across 10,240 individual players, including more than 5,000 Street Fighter 6 competitors.
These historical figures help explain why registration metrics matter and why the unit being counted must be named. They do not establish the registration rank or payout for a game in 2026; that requires the relevant 2026 event information.
What the published schedule does—and does not—tell players
The official 2026 USA event page establishes the featured-game total, the registration-rank pool schedule, and the top-eight percentages. The 2025 USA FAQ provides a separate description of that year’s featured and extended tournament arrangements. The official rules establish match formats and bracket progression. None of those published details, as described here, specifies the practical process for receiving a prize.
- Payment timing is not stated in the cited event details.
- Tax treatment, transaction fees, and any required player paperwork are not established by the published payout schedule.
- The 2026 USA figures do not establish that Evo Japan, Evo France, Evo Singapore, other Evo-branded events, or a future year use the same allocation.
For a real tournament, use the official page and terms for that exact event and year. A pool formula answers how the published award is calculated; it is not a substitute for event-specific instructions on eligibility, payment, or administration.
A practical way to compare Evo prize pools
When comparing two prize figures, first check that they refer to the same kind of event and the same basis for setting a pool. A total for a featured lineup, a pool for one game, and an entry-total amount for an extended bracket are not interchangeable numbers.
- Identify the event and year. Do not assume a USA figure applies to a different location or edition.
- Check tournament status. Establish whether it is featured or extended; the 2025 USA page described different pool-setting approaches for those categories.
- Find the game-level pool rule. For the 2026 USA featured lineup, registration rank selects the listed game pool.
- Apply the placement share. Multiply the game pool by the published percentage for the final placement, accounting for two competitors tied at fifth and two tied at seventh.
- Keep counts and payment terms separate. Distinguish game registrations, bracket entries, and individual players, then check the specific event’s instructions for matters beyond the calculation.
Following these steps keeps a total prize announcement from being mistaken for a guaranteed first-place amount, and prevents one year’s formula from being presented as a permanent rule for every Evo tournament.
