Put your headset in pairing mode, then add it from Windows’ Bluetooth settings. Once paired, choose it as the sound output if audio still plays through the IdeaPad speakers. The headset’s pairing-button sequence varies by model, so follow its manual or manufacturer’s instructions.
Connect a Bluetooth headset in Windows 11

Turn on the headset and put it in discoverable pairing mode. Keep it near the laptop. If it is already connected to another device, disconnect it there if needed to make it available for pairing.

On the IdeaPad, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices and turn on Bluetooth.

Select Add device > Bluetooth. When the headset appears, select it and follow any on-screen prompts.

If Windows asks you to confirm a code or connection, follow the prompt and wait for the device to show as connected.
With Bluetooth enabled, Windows can reconnect to a paired device automatically when the headset and laptop are in range. This is general Windows guidance; Bluetooth hardware and specifications can vary by IdeaPad model. Microsoft’s Windows pairing instructions also explain that a USB Bluetooth adapter can add Bluetooth to a Windows device that does not have it built in.

Select the headset for sound
Pairing does not always change the active audio output. If sound continues through the laptop speakers, select the headset from the taskbar’s sound control or open Settings > System > Sound > Output and choose it as the output device.

Windows 10 pairing path
In Windows 10, open Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth, then select the headset and follow the prompts.
Windows 10 may continue to work, but Microsoft support ended on October 14, 2025. Through normal support, it no longer receives Microsoft’s free software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes. Microsoft’s pairing page covers both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Fix common Bluetooth headset problems
Bluetooth headset not showing up

Make sure Bluetooth is on in Windows and the headset is in pairing mode; use the headset’s own instructions for its button sequence.

Move the headset closer to the laptop and check that it has charge. Power it off and on, then try pairing again.

If Windows has an old saved entry for the headset, remove it and add the device again.

Toggle Bluetooth off and back on, check Windows Update, and restart the laptop if it still does not appear. Microsoft’s Bluetooth connection troubleshooting steps include these checks.
Headset appears but will not connect
Remove the headset from Windows’ Bluetooth device list and pair it again, keeping it nearby and in pairing mode. If that fails, turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Check for Windows updates and restart. In Windows 11, you can also run the Bluetooth troubleshooter through the Get Help app. Microsoft lists these steps in its connection troubleshooting guide.
Bluetooth is missing or disabled in Settings
A missing or grayed-out Bluetooth control can indicate a hardware, driver, or firmware problem. Check Lenovo support for the exact IdeaPad model rather than installing a driver intended for a different model. Microsoft’s guidance for Bluetooth disappearing in Windows also points to manufacturer drivers and firmware as possible factors.
