To use the ServerKit VPS template, install it from the VPS’s operating-system settings, then sign in to the panel with username admin and the password you set during installation. Back up anything important first: installing the template replaces the VPS operating system and erases data already stored on that server.
Before installing ServerKit
Installing the template is a destructive operating-system change. Copy off any files, databases, or other information you need to keep before proceeding. The installation replaces the VPS operating system and erases the data on it.
The template instructions list Ubuntu 24.04 and Ubuntu 26.04 as the available operating-system options. Template availability and control-panel labels can change; follow the options currently shown for your VPS.
Install the template in the control panel
- Sign in to the control panel, open VPS, and select Manage beside the VPS you want to configure.
- Open OS & Panel → Operating System and select ServerKit.
- Choose an available Ubuntu version, then enter a panel password or generate one. Store this password securely; it will be used to sign in to ServerKit.
- After confirming your backup, choose Change OS and wait for the installation to finish.
These steps follow the template guide.
Sign in to the ServerKit panel
When installation is complete, open the VPS IP address in a browser. Use admin as the username and the password entered during installation. The guide illustrates access with an HTTP address; use the address and connection method provided for your VPS rather than assuming the example IP applies to your server.

What you can manage in ServerKit
ServerKit is documented as a VPS dashboard for deploying applications and managing server services. Its guide lists these capabilities; they are documented features, not a claim of independent testing:
- Applications: deploy PHP, Python, Node.js, and Docker applications, with one-click templates including WordPress, Ghost, Nextcloud, and n8n.
- Databases: manage MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, as well as Docker containers.
- Domains and certificates: manage domains and DNS zones and provision Let’s Encrypt certificates.
- Server visibility: monitor CPU, memory, disk, and network use.
- Security: configure firewall rules, Fail2ban, malware scanning, and two-factor authentication.
- Scheduled work and backups: configure cron jobs and backup policies.

Open the panel with your own domain (optional)
The panel can be reached by the VPS IP address; a custom hostname is optional. To use one such as panel.domain.tld:
- Create an A record for the hostname and point it to the VPS IP address.
- In ServerKit, open Settings → System (or the equivalent settings page reached through the panel’s IP address).
- Find Panel Domain, enter the hostname, and confirm.
After the setting is applied, open the panel using the configured domain.

Update ServerKit
Connect to the VPS over SSH or use the browser terminal, then run:
sudo serverkit updateThe updater backs up the database, deploys the new version, runs a health check, and automatically rolls back if that check fails. Keep a separate backup of important server data; this update behavior does not change the data-loss warning for reinstalling the operating-system template.
