Seasons are sets of heroes for Dice Throne’s competitive combat game; Dice Throne Adventures is a cooperative campaign expansion that uses those heroes. The term “Sagas” is the uncertain part: the official product and publisher materials reviewed do not identify a Dice Throne product or mode by that name, so there is no substantiated three-way comparison to make.
What “Seasons” and “Adventures” refer to
Seasons add heroes to the core game
A Dice Throne Season is a collection of heroes for the core player-versus-player game, not a separate campaign format. In the publisher’s campaign FAQ, standard Dice Throne is described as a two-to-six-player combat game with one-on-one, team, and free-for-all formats. Each hero has distinct abilities and a unique set of five dice; players also use cards and combat points to shape what happens during play.
For a Season purchase, the practical question is which heroes it includes and whether their play styles interest you. A Season gives you characters for the core system; its label does not mean that it contains a cooperative story campaign.
Adventures changes the format
Dice Throne Adventures is a cooperative campaign expansion. Instead of setting heroes against one another, players work together through scenarios that the publisher describes as featuring generated worlds, boss battles, loot, and legacy elements. That makes Adventures a change to the play experience and campaign structure, rather than simply another Season of heroes.
#1 Best Overall
- Battle as iconic X-Men heroes: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Gambit, and Rogue in this fast-paced, dice-rolling combat game.
- Play in multiple modes: 1v1 duels, 2v2 team battles, or free-for-all mayhem!
- Each hero comes with unique dice, a player board, and a custom deck of cards for thrilling strategic gameplay.
- Upgrade abilities and use action cards to outsmart and outmaneuver your opponents.
- Compatible with the entire Dice Throne ecosystem - mix and match heroes for endless unique battles!
Adventures requires hero characters: the publisher’s campaign FAQ says to use one hero per player and notes that Adventures itself does not supply the regular-play heroes. The FAQ describes campaigns with up to four heroes. Its guidance dates to 2019, so consult the applicable rulebook for exact current rules or a question about a particular setup.
At a glance: core Seasons versus Adventures
| Question | Seasons and hero sets | Adventures |
|---|---|---|
| Main experience | Core hero-versus-hero combat | Cooperative campaign |
| What it adds | Distinct heroes for the core system | Campaign scenarios, generated worlds, boss battles, loot, and campaign structure |
| Player and hero setup | The publisher FAQ describes standard play for two to six players, in one-on-one, team, and free-for-all formats. | The publisher FAQ says one hero per player and describes campaigns with up to four heroes. |
| Does the product supply heroes? | Hero sets supply characters for core play. | Adventures is an expansion and does not supply regular-play heroes, according to the publisher FAQ. |
| Compatibility | Seasons supply heroes for play. | The publisher FAQ says all versions of Dice Throne are compatible with Adventures. |
The player-count and compatibility details in the table reflect the publisher’s 2019 campaign FAQ. Dice Throne’s downloads page lists a Rulebook Version 2.4.3 from 2025 and an Adventures Rulebook Version 1.2 from 2022; use the relevant rulebook when you need a precise ruling rather than relying on an older FAQ.
The distinction is useful when deciding what kind of session your group wants. A hero set gives you characters for matchups; Adventures supplies campaign structure for cooperative play, but not the hero characters themselves. The two product types therefore answer different needs rather than competing as interchangeable versions of the same game.
What the Season One editions change
Season One: Rerolled
The publisher’s 2019 FAQ describes Season One: Rerolled as an update intended to bring its presentation in line with Season Two. The changes it names are full-art cards, uniform card backs, a tri-fold board, and color-coded dice. It also mentions minor rules adjustments intended to improve clarity and the player experience.
That makes Rerolled the updated presentation of Season One, but the FAQ does not say that the original Season One is unusable or incompatible. If you already own the original, the stated differences are useful context for deciding whether you want the updated components; they are not evidence that you must replace your set to use Adventures.
Rank #2
- HEROES CLASH IN HEAD-TO-HEAD DUEL: Enter the arena with Treant and Ninja, each with unique abilities, themed attacks, and custom dice. Face off in an epic battle where every roll counts.
How this relates to Adventures
The campaign FAQ says all versions of Dice Throne work with Adventures. In practical terms, the key requirement is having hero characters to play, not owning a particular Season edition. The FAQ does not establish that any one Season is necessary for the campaign or that Rerolled is required.
If you are choosing between original Season One and Rerolled, the confirmed comparison is about presentation and minor rules adjustments—not a different campaign compatibility status. The publisher FAQ specifically says the original remains playable. Check the components listed for the particular box you are considering, especially if uniform card backs, full-art cards, or the tri-fold board matter to you.
What “Sagas” means—and what can be confirmed
“Sagas” is not identified as a Dice Throne product or mode in the official product and publisher materials reviewed. It would therefore be misleading to describe it as a third format alongside Seasons and Adventures, or to assign it rules, components, player counts, or a release status.
The publisher’s 2026 update does discuss changes to the product portfolio: it says Dice Throne has shifted toward single-hero releases, that accessory packs are optional rather than required for the core game or expansions, and that Mythic cards are moving toward cooperative experiences such as Adventures and Missions rather than being tied to specific heroes. Those statements provide current portfolio context, but they do not substantiate a product called Sagas.
If you encountered “Sagas” in a listing, conversation, or event description, check the exact product name and publisher information before treating it as official Dice Throne terminology. The available first-party material does not establish what the word refers to. It could be a mistaken name or a reference outside the official product line; without confirmation, neither interpretation should be presented as fact.

Choosing a product for the kind of play you want
Choose a Season or hero set for competitive matchups
If you want players to face one another, start by comparing the heroes in the Season boxes: their abilities, play styles, and character count. The material available here establishes that Seasons are hero collections, but it does not provide a complete roster-by-roster comparison or the character count for each box. Check the specific box contents before buying if you are choosing between sets based on a particular hero.
Standard play can accommodate two to six players according to the publisher FAQ, using one-on-one, team, or free-for-all formats. That broad range gives groups more than one way to use a hero collection, though the exact match setup should come from the relevant rules. If your main priority is variety, look at which heroes a box supplies; if your priority is learning a particular character, verify that the character is included rather than assuming every Season has the same roster.
Choose Adventures for cooperative campaign play
If your group wants to face scenarios and bosses together, Adventures is the relevant format. Plan for hero characters as well as the campaign expansion, since the publisher FAQ says Adventures does not provide the regular-play heroes. The FAQ’s compatibility guidance means you do not need a particular Season edition solely to connect heroes with the campaign.
The campaign setup described in that FAQ uses one hero per player, with up to four heroes in a campaign. That is distinct from the FAQ’s two-to-six-player description of standard Dice Throne play. If your group size or setup is outside those older FAQ details, consult the Adventures rulebook rather than assuming the standard game’s player range automatically applies to the campaign.
Use the product category to identify what is being sold
At the time the official store pages were checked, the store listed Dice Throne Adventures and Marvel Dice Throne Missions under Expansions. Its Multipacks page listed the Season One Battle Chest, Season Two Battle Chest, Marvel Dice Throne Battle Chest, and Marvel X-Men Dice Throne Battle Chest. The X-Men chest was marked sold out on that page at that time. These are store-page listings, not a guarantee of continued stock or availability through other retailers.

- Suit up for battle in Marvel Dice Throne - a game of intriguing dice, tactical card play, powerful Marvel heroes, and unique abilities. The 4-hero box is a fast-paced 2-4 player combat game (1v1, 2v2, or free-for-all). Select from a variety of Marvel heroes (Scarlet Witch, Thor, Loki, Spider-Man) that play and feel completely distinct from one another.
- Attack opponents and activate abilities by rolling your hero's unique set of five dice. Accumulate combat points and spend them on cards that have a large range of effects, such as granting permanent hero upgrades, applying status effects, and manipulating dice directly (yours, your teammate's, or even your opponent's).
- Expand your Marvel Dice Throne collection and play with up to 6 players, choosing from 8 heroes, with expansions featuring Captain Marvel and Black Panther in one set, and Black Widow and Doctor Strange in another set. These collections are compatible with the entire Dice Throne ecosystem from Roxley Games.
- Includes: 4 Hero Boards (Scarlet Witch, Thor, Loki, Spider-Man), 4 Leaflets, 4 sets of 5 dice (1 set each hero), 132 Hero Cards, 4 Combat Point (CP) Dials, 4 Health Dials, Rules
- 2-4 Players (2-6 Players with Expansions) | Ages 8+ | 30+ Minute Play Time
The store’s category distinction is useful when you are trying to understand a product name: a Battle Chest is listed as a multipack, while Adventures is listed as an expansion. The store listing alone does not establish the precise contents of every box, so verify those details on the product page before purchasing. A stock label is only a snapshot, and availability can change; it also does not confirm whether another retailer has the same item.
The checked official product pages do not establish a price comparison between a Season Battle Chest and Adventures, nor do they verify Amazon stock or pricing. Treat them as different kinds of purchase: a hero collection for core play versus an expansion for cooperative campaign play. If using a retailer listing, check its current contents, edition, price, and stock independently rather than assuming the publisher store’s categories or status transfer to it.
The official store and the publisher’s broader update also point to a portfolio that includes single-hero releases and multiple expansions. The 2026 update says accessory packs are optional, not a prerequisite for the core game or expansions. That is useful if you are trying to work out whether an accessory purchase is required alongside a hero set or Adventures: the publisher says it is not. The update does not change the distinction between Seasons and the campaign expansion.
Rules and compatibility checks before you play
- For core combat: identify the heroes you will use and check the rulebook that applies to your edition.
- For Adventures: make sure each player has a hero character; the publisher FAQ gives one hero per player as the campaign setup.
- For an older Season One set: distinguish original Season One from Season One: Rerolled by its components and presentation, not by assuming the original cannot be played.
- For a specific ruling: check Dice Throne’s downloads page for the applicable rulebook. The listed core Rulebook Version 2.4.3 is dated 2025, while the listed Adventures Rulebook Version 1.2 is dated 2022.
- For a product listing: confirm whether it is a hero multipack or an expansion, and check current contents and stock directly with the seller.
- For “Sagas”: do not infer an official format from the name alone; the reviewed first-party material does not define it.
In short, the distinction that can be confirmed is between hero collections for the core competitive game and a cooperative campaign expansion that uses heroes. The “Sagas” portion remains unverified in the official material reviewed, rather than a third category that can be compared on equal terms.

What the publisher’s 2026 update adds
The company’s 2026 update offers context about the wider Dice Throne business, not new rules for Seasons or Adventures. It reports 131% year-to-date total sales growth versus 2025 in the USA and Canada, more than $686,000 raised with 9,500-plus backers for the Dice Throne Digital Kickstarter, and more than 50,000 single-hero units sold. It also reports a 200% retail sales surge, described as FLGS sales tripling year over year, a 41% increase in export sales, and 30,000-plus digital matches played in the private alpha.

Those are publisher-reported company figures with the stated geographic and comparison-period limits; they are not independent market statistics, and they do not establish the availability or release status of a product called Sagas. The update’s most directly useful shopping point is that optional accessory packs are not required. Its portfolio discussion of single-hero releases and cooperative-focused Mythic cards helps explain the direction of the product line, but does not turn those categories into substitutes for a Season or Adventures.
