Channel partners can help organizations make fragmented enterprise data useful by connecting systems, improving governance, and delivering trusted data through APIs, portals, and self-service tools. That work can be packaged as assessment, implementation, and ongoing operations—but the available evidence does not establish that it automatically raises partner margins or guarantees recurring revenue.
What “data experience” means in practice
Data experience is the work of making data accessible and useful to the people and applications that need it. It combines the connections between systems, the rules governing quality and access, and the interface through which users consume data. That interface might be an API, an analytics view, a customer or supplier portal, or an internal data marketplace.
Mark Wall, a TCS Consulting and Advisory Partner in the Business Transformation Group, describes data experience as “an enabler that the industry is adopting from the user experience domain to derive value from data.” In practical terms, the goal is not simply to collect more data; it is to reduce the friction between having data and using it responsibly.

A data silo is an isolated collection of information that cannot readily be shared across systems, teams, or business units. Silos can leave employees reconciling inconsistent records, waiting for access, or assembling reports manually. IBM’s explanation of its 2025 Chief Data Officer Study says nearly 77% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that data silos hinder real-time analytics and data-driven decisions; 83% believed silos undermine innovation by preventing cross-departmental idea sharing. IBM explains data silos.
#1 Best Overall

What the problem looks like to users
- A customer portal cannot show current shipping status because the shipping database does not connect to the web interface.
- Suppliers rely on manual email because procurement platforms do not share the information needed to coordinate work.
- Teams use different definitions or duplicate data, so a report assembled from separate systems may not agree with another team’s figures.
These are examples of the kinds of breakdowns described in the ChannelPro/ITPro article, not independently measured case studies. They illustrate why a polished interface alone cannot fix disconnected systems, unclear ownership, or unreliable data.
What a data-experience service needs to cover
A useful project usually connects several layers. Partners should design the delivery experience together with the data flows, quality expectations, and access controls that support it.

Discovery and data-flow mapping
Start by documenting where information originates, how it moves, who uses it, and where workarounds appear. Look for systems that cannot communicate, inconsistent or duplicated records, access delays, fragmented views, and conflicting definitions. The output should identify a concrete use case and the systems, owners, permissions, and freshness requirements it depends on.

Connect appropriate data sources to applications and users using suitable connectors, APIs, integration pipelines, or data products. The design must account for both cloud and legacy systems and specify how current the data needs to be. A near-real-time shipping view, for example, has different latency requirements from a monthly procurement report.

Governance, quality, and security
Set expectations for data ownership, quality, access, and oversight before broadening availability. Role-based access controls can limit information to authorized users; auditability helps organizations understand who requested or used access. Integration should make approved data usable, not make every record universally accessible.
A usable delivery surface
Choose the experience to match the audience and task: a customer portal for shipment updates, a supplier-facing exchange for procurement information, an API for application developers, or an internal marketplace for approved data discovery and sharing. User adoption depends on whether people can find and understand the data and whether the information is reliable enough to act on.

How channel partners can package the work
The commercial opportunity is a service-design thesis: a partner can organize expertise around the full lifecycle of making data usable. The cited sources describe technical capabilities and market context; they do not prove that this approach produces higher margins, longer client retention, or a particular amount of recurring revenue.
- Assessment and design: Map systems and data flows, prioritize a business use case, define access and quality requirements, and propose the target architecture.
- Implementation: Integrate the necessary sources, establish governance and permissions, and deliver the appropriate API, portal, marketplace, or analytics experience.
- Ongoing management: Offer monitoring and operational support for integrations, data quality, governance, access requests, and the platform. This may be structured as continuing service work, but recurring revenue is not guaranteed.
Keep enterprise data monetization distinct from partner revenue. An enterprise may sell datasets, derived insights, or applications, or share data with business partners. A channel partner’s potential income instead comes from the advisory, implementation, and operations services it provides; the two business models are related but not interchangeable.
Best Value

How to evaluate an implementation approach
Compare approaches against the actual use case rather than treating a portal or marketplace as a complete solution. Vendor descriptions can help establish stated capabilities, but they are not a neutral, like-for-like performance comparison.
| Evaluation area | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Integration and compatibility | Can it connect the required legacy and cloud systems, and what connectors or custom work are needed? |
| Freshness and latency | How quickly must changes appear, and does the design meet that requirement? |
| Data quality and governance | Who owns the data, how are quality expectations maintained, and how are definitions aligned? |
| Permissions and auditability | Can access be restricted by role or partner, and can access activity be reviewed? |
| Audience and usability | Is the experience for internal users, business partners, customers, or developers, and can they use it effectively? |
| Deployment and operations | Do deployment and regional requirements fit, and who will monitor and maintain the service? |
| Total cost | What are the implementation and ongoing operating costs, including integration and governance work? |
Descriptions from Snowflake on data sharing, Persistent on data and analytics, and Huwise on data marketplaces outline vendor-stated capabilities. TCS also discusses data experience, data mesh, operating models, security patterns, and partner ecosystems in its communications-sector overview. These descriptions can inform requirements, but do not by themselves establish comparative performance, suitability for a specific deployment, or reseller terms.
What cloud spending does—and does not—tell partners
Omdia reported global cloud infrastructure services spending of US$110.9 billion in Q4 2025, up 29% year over year, and forecast 27% growth for 2026. Those figures provide context for cloud adoption, not a measure of demand for data-experience services, a data-experience market size, or evidence of channel-partner margins. What partners should establish before proposing a project
- A specific user or business problem that better access to data could solve.
- The systems and data owners involved, including the source of truth for important fields.
- Required data freshness, quality, permissions, and audit controls.
- The delivery surface that fits the audience, such as an API, portal, marketplace, or analytics view.
- Who will operate integrations, governance, access reviews, and the user-facing service after launch.
- A cost and scope that account for integration and ongoing operations, not just the visible interface.
Framing the engagement around these deliverables makes the offer concrete. Whether it becomes a profitable or recurring service depends on customer demand, project economics, partner capability, and the operating agreement—not on the label “data experience” alone.
