Blood-Steel Form is a cosmetic outfit, not a documented combat stance or ability. The official listings for Phantom Blade Zero place it in the Digital Deluxe Edition and describe it as an “outfit” or “appearance.” They do not state that it changes attacks, statistics, animations, transformations, or progression. The official US preorder listing showed the Standard Edition at $59.99 and Digital Deluxe at $69.99 when checked, although prices and availability can change.
What Blood-Steel Form is
Blood-Steel Form is the name of an exclusive character appearance included with the Phantom Blade Zero Digital Deluxe Edition. S-GAME’s edition description calls it a “Deluxe Edition Exclusive Outfit: Blood-Steel Form.” The US PlayStation listing uses the category “Deluxe Edition Exclusive Appearance.” Those are the clearest official descriptions currently available.

That wording matters because “form” can sound like a combat mode in an action RPG. Nothing in the official edition descriptions identifies Blood-Steel Form as a stance, transformation, skill, weapon style, buff, or progression system. It is safest to read the name as branding for an outfit rather than as evidence of a new way to fight.

What “works” means in practice
It changes appearance, not documented combat rules
An outfit normally changes how the playable character is rendered while leaving the underlying combat system intact. For Blood-Steel Form, however, the developers have not published a technical description confirming which visual components it changes. The official language supports only the conclusion that it is an appearance item.
There is no authoritative statement that equipping it increases damage, defense, health, stamina, speed, critical-hit chance, weapon access, or any other statistic. There is likewise no statement that it unlocks a separate moveset, modifies a Phantom Edge, changes enemy behavior, or affects quest outcomes. Buying the edition should therefore be treated as a cosmetic choice, not a gameplay upgrade.
Do not infer a transformation from the name
Names in action games often describe themes, factions, techniques, or visual sets. “Blood-Steel Form” could eventually receive story or presentation context, but the current edition copy does not provide one. Until an official guide or in-game explanation says otherwise, the name alone cannot establish a transformation animation or a temporary combat state.
What remains unconfirmed
- Whether the costume has unique idle, attack, or finishing animations.
- Whether it includes alternate colorways, masks, accessories, or display options.
- Whether it can be used with every weapon and Phantom Edge.
- Whether it can be toggled independently from other equipment visuals.
- Whether it can be earned through normal play, sold separately, or made available later.
These are separate questions from whether the item is cosmetic. The available listings answer the latter, but not the individual customization or release questions.
Which edition includes Blood-Steel Form?
The official US PlayStation preorder page lists two editions. The Standard Edition contains the game. The Digital Deluxe Edition contains the game plus Blood-Steel Form and the other bonuses shown below.

The difference shown by that listing is $10 at the time of the US preorder check. It is not a universal worldwide price: currency conversion, taxes, regional pricing, promotions, and later storefront changes can alter the amount you see. Check the store for your account region before placing an order.

The listing identifies Phantom Blade Zero as a PS5 title. It does not, by itself, confirm that the Deluxe Edition is sold as a physical disc package. The artbook and soundtrack are described as digital extras, and the edition format should be verified in the actual retailer or storefront listing if a disc is important to you.

How to obtain Blood-Steel Form
Before release
The currently documented route is to choose the Digital Deluxe Edition. Both the S-GAME page and the US PlayStation page place Blood-Steel Form in that edition’s contents. The official material does not describe a separate code, quest, challenge, or account reward for the outfit.
- Open the official Phantom Blade Zero listing for your region.
- Confirm that the platform is PlayStation 5 and that the product name says “Digital Deluxe Edition.”
- Expand the edition-contents panel and look for “Blood-Steel Form” or the equivalent “Deluxe Edition Exclusive Appearance” wording.
- Check the displayed currency, preorder status, release date, and whether the product is digital before confirming the purchase.
Storefront labels can change, so use the contents shown on the current regional listing rather than relying on a search-result snippet or an old screenshot.
After launch
The official descriptions reviewed do not say whether Blood-Steel Form will remain exclusive to Digital Deluxe, become a separate purchase, be offered in another bundle, or be obtainable through ordinary play. They also do not state whether an upgrade from Standard to Deluxe will be available. Any post-launch unlock path is therefore unknown, not something that can be promised from the present edition copy.
If you buy Standard and later decide you want the outfit, look for an official upgrade or add-on announcement. Do not assume that a later upgrade exists, and do not assume that a third-party code or save-file method is legitimate.

What else is in the Digital Deluxe Edition?
Blood-Steel Form is one part of the package, not the whole definition of Deluxe. The official listing also names Wulin Legend, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack. The descriptions reviewed do not provide page counts, track counts, file formats, or separate download sizes for those extras.

Wulin Legend
Wulin Legend is listed as a Deluxe bonus, but the available edition copy does not explain whether it is a gameplay item, a lore entry, a cosmetic collection, or another type of digital content. Its presence should not be treated as evidence that Blood-Steel Form has a combat function.
Digital artbook and soundtrack
Both are identified as digital. The listing does not establish a physical artbook or disc soundtrack, so buyers who want boxed collectibles should verify the exact product format rather than assuming that “Digital Deluxe” includes physical media.
How this fits into Phantom Blade Zero
PlayStation describes Phantom Blade Zero as a dark wuxia action RPG starring Soul, a swordsman framed for his master’s murder. The story setup gives him sixty-six days left to live. The same page advertises an arsenal of “30+ primary weapons” and “20+ unique Phantom Edges.” Those figures describe the game as a whole; they do not attribute any of those weapons or abilities to Blood-Steel Form.
This context helps separate two kinds of information. The game may offer extensive weapon and technique variety, while Blood-Steel Form remains an appearance item. A large combat system does not make every Deluxe bonus a combat mechanic. Look for explicit words such as “skill,” “weapon,” “stat,” “effect,” or “ability” before concluding that an edition item changes play.

“Form” means a new stance
Not according to the official product copy. The item is categorized as an outfit or appearance, with no stance instructions or combat effect published.
The Deluxe Edition is required for an advantage
No gameplay advantage is documented. The confirmed difference is access to the listed Deluxe bonuses, including the cosmetic.

The costume’s look is already known
The edition descriptions do not provide enough visual information to verify a complete design. Treat fan renders, leaks, and retailer mock-ups as unconfirmed unless the developer or platform listing identifies them as official.

Should you choose the Digital Deluxe Edition?
Choose Standard if you only need the game
The Standard Edition is the straightforward option if your priority is playing Phantom Blade Zero and you do not value the named cosmetic or digital extras. Nothing in the official material indicates that Standard removes a combat system or weakens the playable character.
Choose Digital Deluxe if the cosmetic and extras matter
Digital Deluxe is the documented way to receive Blood-Steel Form at the preorder stage, along with Wulin Legend, the digital artbook, and the digital soundtrack. The choice is primarily about collecting and presentation, because no mechanical benefit is specified.
Wait if you need more certainty
Waiting for a fuller product description may make sense if you need to see the outfit, know whether it has alternate versions, or confirm a later upgrade path. The official release date listed by S-GAME is October 29, 2026; the PlayStation page also presents the title as a PS5 release. Availability and package details can still change before launch.
