Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon has no public, in-game mission editor. Fan-made missions and campaigns are built on PC by modifying the shipped game’s regulation files, mission data, enemies, artificial intelligence, pilots, models, weapons and progression. A project may be a tougher version of one mission, a connected mission pack, or a large overhaul that presents a new story using existing maps and encounters.
That distinction matters: these are file-based modifications, not officially supported standalone levels that you create, save and upload from a menu. The practical workflow is PC-only, offline-first and dependent on each project’s tools, load order and compatible regulation version.
Does Armored Core 6 have custom missions or a mission editor?
No. The retail game does not ship with a public editor for placing enemies, defining objectives, setting progression, saving levels or sharing them through an official service. Community requests for exactly those features are evidence that the supported game does not provide them.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe official game loop gives modders a useful foundation: you assemble an Armored Core from parts and weapons, enter large mission locations, and change your build between missions. Fan projects extend that loop by changing the data that controls encounters, balance, behavior and presentation. They do not add a separate, publisher-supported level-creation mode.

Consequently, “custom mission” can mean several different things. One creator might rebalance an existing sortie and replace its enemies. Another might alter mission behavior and combine modified encounters into a sequence. A larger team might build a campaign wrapper with new progression and story text while still reusing the maps supplied by the game.
How the PC modding ecosystem extends the game
Most projects combine several layers of modification. Understanding those layers helps you judge what a download actually adds.
Regulation and parameter edits
Regulation data controls many of the numbers that make a build and an encounter behave differently: weapon performance, part statistics, damage relationships, costs or other balance values. A regulation-focused project can create a new ruleset without adding a map. It may make a familiar mission harder, change which builds are effective, or support a broader overhaul.
Because regulation files are version-sensitive, a project that worked with one update can stop working after a later regulation change. Treat the regulation version named by the creator as a requirement, not a suggestion.
Mission and enemy changes
Mission modifications can replace or rearrange enemy encounters, alter difficulty, change mission behavior, or present a different campaign sequence. The underlying location may be unchanged while the fight inside it is substantially different. Such a project is still modifying shipped game data; it is not an independently packaged level with its own official save and publishing system.

Artificial intelligence and pilot changes
Some projects alter how enemies or pilots behave. Those changes can affect target selection, aggression, equipment and the rhythm of a battle. They are often more demanding than a simple parameter tweak because they can depend on particular mission data and on the regulation state expected by the creator.
New or changed models, parts and weapons
Asset work can add or replace models, weapons and parts. A project that advertises new equipment may therefore require more than a regulation edit: it may include additional files, a specific installation order and a matching version of the game. Read the project documentation for every dependency before launching.

Community projects have also explored cooperative behavior. These experiments are especially sensitive to version differences and networking assumptions. Do not treat a co-op-enabled modification as evidence that ordinary online service is supported; test only in the offline or otherwise isolated setup described by its author.
What counts as a fan-made campaign?
There is no universal campaign format. The phrase describes a range of projects with very different amounts of new content.
| Project type | What the creator changes | What you may experience |
|---|---|---|
| Challenge mission | Enemy placement, encounter rules, parameters or difficulty in one existing mission | A single replayable test built around a familiar location |
| Mission pack | Several modified missions and, sometimes, a shared balance or regulation file | A set of separate sorties with a common theme or difficulty curve |
| Overhaul | Multiple systems, such as regulation values, equipment, AI, models and mission behavior | A substantially different version of the base game |
| Connected story campaign | A sequence of modified missions plus progression, presentation or story framing | A campaign-like arc assembled from existing maps and altered encounters |
A “new campaign” therefore does not necessarily mean new geometry. Many ambitious projects reuse the original locales while changing who appears there, how objectives behave, what equipment is available and how missions connect. Check the project’s scope rather than assuming that the label promises entirely new levels.

What you need before installing a mission mod
- A PC copy of Armored Core VI: the file-based workflow described by the community is not exposed on PlayStation or Xbox versions.
- A clean installation and backup: keep an unmodified game copy, back up saves as appropriate, and record the original regulation state so you can return to official play.
- The creator’s required tools and files: each project can use different utilities, archives, patches, or asset loaders. There is no universal campaign package.
- Regulation and application compatibility: note the exact game update and regulation version named by the project. Bandai Namco documented Regulation Ver. 1.07.1 with App Ver. 70/71 and states that the update is required for online play; a mod built for another state may not load correctly.
- An offline plan: assume that a modified installation is for offline testing unless the creator and the platform holder explicitly establish otherwise.
How to install an AC6 mission or campaign modification safely
Exact filenames and utilities differ, so use the project page’s instructions for the technical details. The following sequence keeps the important decisions in the right order.
- Choose a project and read its entire documentation. Identify whether it changes only parameters, modifies missions, adds assets, or supplies a campaign sequence. Record required tools, dependencies, load order, supported game version and any known conflicts.
- Close the game and preserve a clean baseline. Back up the installation and saves before changing anything. A separate clean copy or a reliable restoration method makes returning to official files much easier.
- Confirm the regulation and application version. Compare the version listed by the project with the version installed on your PC. Do not mix files merely because their names look similar; version mismatches can produce crashes, missing assets or incorrect mission behavior.
- Install only the files the project specifies. Follow its stated order for regulation data, mission changes, assets and loaders. If it lists a required dependency, install that dependency before launching the campaign. Avoid adding unrelated modifications until the base project works.
- Separate modded and official play. Use the offline profile or method recommended by the project and do not sign into official online service with altered files. Keep the clean installation available rather than repeatedly swapping individual files without a record.
- Test a short section first. Launch the game offline and enter the mission or first sequence named in the documentation. Check that the expected enemies, equipment and objectives appear before committing to a long playthrough.
- Document your working state. Note the game version, regulation version, installed dependencies and load order. This record is invaluable when a patch arrives or when you need to reproduce a working setup.
- Restore clean files before official online play. Remove the modification using the creator’s uninstall method or restore the clean backup. Verify that the game reaches the expected unmodified state before reconnecting.
Can you play AC6 mods online?
You should treat modified play as offline. The official terms state that players may not “alter, adapt, copy, edit, reproduce, distribute, transmit or publish all pieces of information included in the Game … without the prior approval of the Company.” Bandai Namco’s 1.05 notes likewise warn: Please do not play the game under illegally altered conditions.
Those statements are not a promise that a particular mod will trigger a penalty, but they are a clear reason not to use altered files with official online services. The safest separation is simple: modded files and an offline profile for experiments; clean files and the current official regulation for online play.
Bandai Namco documented Regulation Ver. 1.07.1 (App Ver. 70/71) and reiterated that the update is required for online play. Because regulation and application states can change, check the current official update information before switching from a modded setup back to network service.
How to evaluate a project before downloading it
Project descriptions often use “campaign,” “mission,” and “overhaul” differently. Use these checks to establish what you are actually getting.

The game crashes at launch
The most likely causes are an incompatible regulation or application version, a missing dependency, an incorrect load order or a conflict between two modifications. Return to the clean backup, confirm the required version, reinstall only the project’s base files and add optional components one at a time.
The mission loads but the expected enemies or weapons are missing
This usually indicates that a mission file, asset package or dependency was skipped, installed in the wrong order or overwritten by another mod. Recheck the project manifest and test with only the documented files enabled.
The campaign starts, but progression is broken
A campaign wrapper may rely on a particular sequence of modified missions or regulation data. Verify that every mission in the required order is installed and that an older save is not carrying incompatible progression data. If the author supplies a fresh-start procedure, follow it instead of reusing a partially completed official save.
Online features stop working
Do not troubleshoot this by repeatedly reconnecting with modified files. Exit, restore the clean installation and the current official regulation, then verify the unmodified game before using online service.

A game update breaks the project
Pause updates for the modded setup when practical, record the previous working version and wait for the project author to document compatibility. Do not assume that replacing one file will repair a multi-layer overhaul.
What console players can and cannot do
PlayStation and Xbox versions do not provide the same access to game files and community tooling used by PC projects. You can play the official missions and any publisher-provided updates on those platforms, but the PC workflow for replacing regulation data, mission behavior, assets or AI is not available in the same way.
That platform boundary also explains why a downloadable fan campaign cannot be treated like an ordinary console add-on. There is no supported in-game browser, upload pipeline or universal package format that delivers these projects to every platform.

Why a complete fan campaign is difficult
A campaign is more than a collection of difficult fights. The creator must keep regulation values, equipment, enemy behavior, mission logic and progression coherent across a sequence. A change that is fun in one encounter can make later missions trivial, impossible or incompatible with the intended build options. Asset additions introduce another layer of dependencies, while a story wrapper must communicate order and objectives using systems that were not designed as a public campaign editor.
For players, that complexity explains the variation in installation instructions and reliability. A small challenge mission may need one data change; a connected overhaul can require a precise stack of files and a clean start. Read the scope and dependency list before deciding whether a project suits a short experiment or a full playthrough.
Bottom line
Armored Core 6 custom missions exist through PC modding, not through an official mission editor. Fan projects modify the game’s regulations, encounters, AI, assets and progression, ranging from one altered challenge to a campaign-like overhaul built on existing locations. Use a clean backup, match the project’s exact version and dependencies, keep modified play offline, and restore unmodified files before official online service. On consoles, the same file-based workflow is not available.
