Short answer: The Outpost is a Raider Den extension introduced in the Frozen Trail update on 8 October 2026. You unlock it through Celeste’s project chain, build its modules and furniture with workshop materials, and use its Research Station to pursue selected blueprints with research points. It is separate from your normal Stash: furniture adds specialized storage, while Stash upgrades increase general inventory capacity.
The most efficient progression is goal-dependent. Upgrade workshop stations when you need new recipes or combat equipment, use Stash upgrades when every category is overflowing, and add Outpost furniture after you know which item types are consuming the most space. Keep project materials in your inventory or Stash until the related upgrade is finished, because selling them can delay progression.
What the Outpost is and what it adds
The Outpost is an extension of the Raider Den positioned between the Rust Belt and the mountains. It adds rooms, modules, furniture and a Research Station rather than replacing the rest of your base. The Arc Raiders Community Wiki’s 2026 reference lists 100 furniture designs, although individual designs, capacities and eligibility can change with patches.

How to unlock the Outpost
Celeste offers the project that opens the Outpost. The first task is called Research Topside Living Conditions and requires a photograph of a farmland house. That means you need a Camera before the project can advance.
Get a Camera
- Buy one from Shani. This is the direct option if the item is available in her current inventory.
- Craft one at the Workbench. Check the live recipe for its material cost before leaving the Raider Den.
- Find one Topside. This saves workshop materials but depends on exploration and extraction.
Complete the project
- Accept Celeste’s Outpost project and read the current objective wording.
- Take the Camera into a raid and photograph a farmland house, following the on-screen photo confirmation.
- Extract with the required evidence and any materials the next project step requests.
- Return to the Raider Den, turn in the objective and place the newly available Outpost extension.
- Open the Outpost construction or decorate interface to see which modules, rooms and furniture blueprints are currently available.
The exact follow-up requirements are project-sensitive. Treat the objective panel as the authority instead of farming a remembered list from an older guide.
How workshop crafting and station upgrades work
Workshop stations require ordinary materials plus ARC parts. Upgrading a station unlocks additional recipes and can improve access to weapons, weapon modifications, medical supplies, utility gadgets and survival tools. The current progression references stations such as Scrappy and Gunsmith, with later crafting connected to the Outpost and Research Station.

The basic progression loop
- Extract with loot from Topside.
- Compare your materials with the next station or project requirement.
- Keep named items that appear in an active requirement instead of selling them.
- Spend the materials at the correct bench in the Raider Den or Outpost.
- Use the newly unlocked recipes to prepare for harder raids and the next upgrade.
There is no universal best station order. A weapon-focused player gains more immediate value from Gunsmith and combat-related unlocks. Someone repeatedly abandoning loot because of a full inventory should first solve capacity with Stash or furniture. The right choice is the one that removes your current bottleneck.
Research Station, research points and blueprints
The Research Station is an Outpost-linked hub for blueprints and later progression. Instead of relying only on random blueprint drops, you collect world items containing research points and spend those points on a research choice. Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal described the system as a way to choose research, including blueprints, rather than simply chasing random-number-generator drops. Research reduces the randomness of blueprint acquisition, but it does not make the process automatic. You must explore, find research-point items and extract them. Research-point items also compete with ordinary loot for your available capacity, so a larger Stash or suitable furniture can indirectly accelerate blueprint progression.
Later Research Station requirements
Current guide coverage identifies rare requirements such as ARC Data Modules and Frigate Inductors for later upgrades. One suggested route is checking storm shelters during blizzards, but that is guide advice rather than a guaranteed drop-rate rule. Weather, map state and item availability can change, so confirm the requirement on the Research Station screen before committing to a farming route.

Scrappy upgrade materials and costs
The following requirements are listed by TheArcRaiders.com’s 2026 workshop reference. They are patch-sensitive: open the live upgrade screen before a dedicated farming run, especially after a balance update.

Eight named material types appear across these listed levels: Dog Collar, Lemons, Apricots, Prickly Pears, Olives, Cat Bed, Mushrooms and Very Comfortable Pillows. The table is not a complete list of every station cost in the game; it covers the published Scrappy examples only.
Stash storage versus Outpost furniture
ARC Raiders has two distinct capacity systems. The standard Stash is the broad, general-purpose route. Outpost furniture provides additional, more specialized places to hold or display eligible items. They complement each other rather than sharing one upgrade track.

How much furniture storage can add
PC Gamer reports that the Outpost has three rooms and that filling them with crafted furniture can create hundreds of extra storage slots. That is a broad description, not a guaranteed capacity for every account or patch. No stable official table currently establishes the capacity of every furniture item, so use the number shown when you select an item in the current Decorate menu.

Furniture blueprints are found in the world, particularly in residential areas. PC Gamer gives Pendola Pass’s Old Town as an example location. Finding a blueprint does not finish the upgrade: you still need its recipe materials and an available room position.
Plan the three-room layout before building
The current reference says the room layout cannot be changed once constructed. Decide where storage-heavy furniture, display pieces and movement paths will go before confirming construction. A practical approach is to reserve the easiest-to-reach room for the category you check after every raid, then place less frequently used displays in the remaining space. Because furniture eligibility and capacities can change, leave some flexibility instead of filling every tile immediately.
Which upgrades should you prioritize?
Rank each option against three questions: does it relieve an immediate capacity problem, does it unlock something you will use this week, and how difficult are its materials to replace?
Choose Stash first when capacity is the emergency
- Your general inventory is full even when you are not collecting a particular category.
- You are discarding research-point items or project materials during extraction.
- You need one broad increase before you know which specialized furniture categories matter.
Choose furniture when your overflow is category-specific
- A recurring item type fills the Stash while other categories remain manageable.
- You have found a useful furniture blueprint and can craft it without delaying a higher-priority station.
- You want display or specialized storage in addition to, rather than instead of, general capacity.
Choose workshop stations for recipes and combat power
- Gunsmith is the priority when weapon modifications or combat equipment are limiting your loadout.
- Scrappy and other utility-oriented benches matter when medical, gadget or survival recipes are the constraint.
- Compare the next unlock with your actual play style; a recipe you never use is not a meaningful short-term upgrade.
Choose Research Station levels for targeted blueprints
Research is most valuable when you have a specific blueprint goal and are willing to collect research-point items. It is less urgent if you are still missing basic workshop recipes or cannot carry the materials required for raids.

A practical early-game plan
- Accept Celeste’s project and secure a Camera through Shani, the Workbench or Topside.
- Photograph the farmland house, extract and finish the Outpost objective.
- Inspect every station and project screen before selling loot. Mark the next requirement mentally or in a personal checklist.
- Upgrade the station that matches your immediate goal: Gunsmith for weapons, Scrappy or another bench for utility, Stash for broad capacity.
- Collect furniture blueprints while exploring residential areas, but do not build blindly before deciding how the three rooms should function.
- Once basic capacity is stable, place furniture for the categories that overflow most often.
- Begin Research Station progression when you can reliably extract research-point items and target rare components such as ARC Data Modules or Frigate Inductors.
Material management and farming pitfalls
Do not sell project items too early
Named objects such as a Dog Collar, Cat Bed or Very Comfortable Pillows can look like ordinary loot. If an active station or project lists one, keep it until the upgrade is complete. Selling it may force another raid for the same item.
Do not treat a guide route as a guaranteed drop table
Storm shelters during blizzards are suggested for rare Research Station materials, but no guaranteed drop rate is established here. Use the route as a lead, not a promise, and leave room for weather or loot-table changes.
Check the live screen after patches
Material quantities, eligible furniture categories, room rules and capacities are all vulnerable to balance changes. The requirement shown in your current client takes precedence over a saved list from an earlier season.
Extract before chasing the next objective
Research points, rare ARC parts and project materials only help if they reach the Raider Den. When a run contains a required item, prioritize a safe extraction over an optional detour for low-value loot.
Troubleshooting common Outpost problems
“The Outpost project is not appearing.”
Check whether Celeste is available and whether the Frozen Trail content is active in your current version. Speak with Celeste again and review all unfinished projects; the Outpost is unlocked through her project chain, not through a random world pickup.

“The photo objective will not complete.”
Verify that you brought a Camera, photographed a farmland house rather than another building type, and completed the extraction. If the objective still does not update, reread its exact wording in case the location or interaction changed in a patch.
“My furniture does not accept the item I want to store.”
Furniture storage is specialized. Open the Decorate menu and inspect the item’s eligible categories and remaining capacity. A piece that looks like general shelving may accept only a defined class of displayable items.
“I built the rooms in the wrong arrangement.”
The current reference says the layout cannot be changed after construction. Recheck the construction confirmation before committing future rooms, and treat existing placement as permanent unless a later update adds a reset option.
“I have research points but cannot see the blueprint I want.”
Research points unlock choices offered by the Research Station; they do not guarantee every blueprint is immediately available. Confirm the station level, required rare items and the current research menu before spending points.
