AI can turn data from connected devices into useful decisions: flagging unusual readings, identifying patterns, or helping people respond sooner. In India, government-documented examples span fresh-produce quality analysis, satellite-based decision intelligence, drone inspection, and agricultural services. They illustrate the shift, but they do not establish a ranked list of the country’s “top” AI-and-IoT companies.
What changes when AI is added to IoT?
IoT systems collect data from connected devices and equipment. Depending on the application, that data may come from fixed sensors, operational machinery, satellite imagery, or drones. AI can analyze it to classify events, detect anomalies, estimate changing conditions, and help people decide what to do next.
The value is not simply that a device is connected or that a model uses AI. It comes from a useful chain: collect relevant data, interpret it in context, and deliver an actionable signal to the person or system responsible for a decision. The examples documented by Indian government sources show different parts of that chain; they do not all demonstrate a complete IoT deployment.

| Example | Sector and job | Documented data source and role | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q-scan | Fresh produce; food-quality analysis | Data collected through the produce lifecycle; AI-powered IoT analysis in real time | The Government of India describes actionable insights for sellers. It does not provide performance or customer-outcome metrics. Government of India source |
| SatSure | Earth observation; decision intelligence | Satellite imagery analyzed with AI | A March 2026 Government of India startup list describes its work in Earth Observation decision intelligence. The listing does not establish a specific IoT product or market leadership. Government of India source |
| VolarAlta | Industrial inspection | Drone-based AI inspection solutions | The March 2026 Government of India startup list describes its inspection solutions. It does not detail the communications architecture, so this is evidence of AI-enabled drone inspection, not proof of an IoT deployment. Government of India source |
| Kisan e-Mitra | Agricultural services; farmer questions about government schemes | Voice-based, multilingual AI chatbot | A Government of India document describes a service for PM-Kisan, Kisan Credit Card, and crop-insurance queries. It is an AI service example, not evidence of IoT integration. Government of India source |

How are AI and connected systems being used in agriculture?
Produce quality across the supply chain
Q-scan is the clearest explicit AI-plus-IoT example in the cited material. The Government of India describes it as capturing critical data through the fresh-produce lifecycle, analyzing food quality in real time, and giving sellers actionable insights. The description does not specify its sensors, model design, deployment scale, or measured effect on spoilage or sales, so those outcomes should not be assumed. Read the Government of India description of Q-scan.
Farmer support through AI services
Kisan e-Mitra illustrates a different use of AI: answering farmers’ questions about government schemes through a voice-based, multilingual chatbot. The Government of India document reports 11 Indian languages, over 20,000 queries daily, and more than 95 lakh farmer inquiries at its reporting point. These are service figures reported by the Government of India in 2025; they do not show that the chatbot is connected to IoT sensors. See the Government of India AI and IoT document.

Earlier pest and crop-disease detection
The National Pest Surveillance System uses AI and machine learning for early detection of pests and crop diseases, according to the same government document. It launched on 15 August 2024. That description supports its AI/ML role, but does not specify that field sensors or other IoT devices feed the system. See the Government of India document.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSatellite imagery for decisions
SatSure is listed among selected Indian AI startups for Earth Observation decision intelligence using satellite imagery and AI. Satellite imagery can support monitoring over large areas, but the cited listing does not identify a particular agriculture deployment, connected-device network, or outcome metric for the company. It is therefore an example of AI applied to remote-sensing data, not a verified measure of IoT market leadership. Read the Government of India startup list.

What do industrial and infrastructure examples show?
VolarAlta’s entry in the March 2026 Government of India startup list describes drone-based AI solutions for industrial inspections. Drones collect imagery and can function as connected data-collection platforms, but the cited description does not explain how these drones communicate or how inspection results feed into operational systems. The supported claim is AI-enabled drone inspection—not a documented end-to-end IoT architecture. Read the Government of India startup list.
This distinction matters when assessing an AI-and-IoT claim. A project may use AI on imagery without demonstrating that connected devices continuously transmit data, that analysis happens on-device or in the cloud, or that an automated action follows. Those implementation details should be established for each deployment rather than inferred from the use of AI or a drone.

What national support is shaping India’s AI ecosystem?
India’s AI policy context helps explain the capacity-building environment, but it is not evidence that a particular company has deployed IoT at scale. The Government of India approved the IndiaAI Mission in March 2024 with a five-year outlay of ₹10,371 crore. Its seven pillars cover compute capacity, foundation models, AIKosh, application development, FutureSkills, startup financing, and Safe & Trusted AI. See the Government of India announcement.

What should organizations consider before deploying AI and IoT?
Connected systems create practical requirements alongside the promise of faster or better-informed decisions. Device security, dependable connectivity, data quality, privacy, and the consequences of a faulty alert all affect whether an application is useful. Teams should ask what data is collected, who can access it, how the system behaves when connectivity fails, and who reviews consequential decisions.
India’s Telecom Engineering Centre lists a consumer IoT security code of practice, Release 2.0, dated 28 November 2025, as well as reports on Industry 4.0 dated 30 June 2025 and agriculture digital transformation dated 18 March 2024. These are relevant official references for security and deployment design; their presence on the index does not show that any company named above follows the guidance. Are these really India’s “top” AI-and-IoT companies?
The cited sources establish selected examples and policy context, not a defensible ranking. Q-scan is explicitly described as an AI-powered IoT solution; SatSure is described in terms of satellite imagery and AI; and VolarAlta in terms of AI-enabled drone inspection. Kisan e-Mitra and the National Pest Surveillance System demonstrate AI applications in agriculture, but the cited descriptions do not establish IoT integration.

A meaningful “top” list would need comparable current measures—such as AIoT revenue, deployment counts, market share, or independently documented customer outcomes—and a clear method for comparing organizations across sectors. Without those measures, the more accurate conclusion is that these companies and initiatives illustrate several ways AI is being applied to data and connected systems in India.
