On a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, a front-case lip can change how the phone feels in everyday use—even when the case’s protection has not been independently tested. In Mike Lowe’s T3 account, the Benks ArmorGrid Air made him feel more comfortable handling the foldable roughly, while a separately sold magnetic grip doubled as a stand when the phone was unfolded.
What the Galaxy Z Fold setup included
Lowe’s setup paired a Benks ArmorGrid Air case with a GlassWarrior screen protector in the Armor Grand Combo. The handset was a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Magnetic Phone Grip was separate, not part of that combo. T3’s account describes the Air; it does not establish that Lowe tested the ArmorGrid Pro or independently assessed the protector or grip.
Why the front case changed the experience
The front portion of the case adds a lip around the phone’s cover-screen area. Lowe says that feature changed how he used his foldable. He also found that having the case on made him more willing to handle the phone in a rugged way. Those are one user’s impressions of interaction and confidence—not evidence that the case prevents damage or reduces repair risk.
What the separate magnetic grip added
Lowe says the Magnetic Phone Grip could prop up the unfolded phone like a stand. That gives it a practical role beyond holding the phone, but the exact model, compatibility details, and standalone listing were not established in the account. Check compatibility with the specific Fold model before buying an accessory.

How the case options differ
Benks’ case guide describes three broad choices for a foldable: a slim aramid-fiber back, a TPU case with hinge wrap, or using the phone without a case. The trade-off is between a thinner profile and more coverage, especially around the hinge; the right choice depends on how much bulk you are willing to accept.

What to verify before choosing one
- Confirm the exact phone model. T3 says the ArmorGrid Air and ArmorGrid Pro are available on Amazon, but its account does not establish current marketplace availability or confirm a listing for a particular market. Check that a listing specifically supports the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
- Check product naming. T3 uses “ArmorGrid Air”; Benks’ guide uses “ArmorAir.” Confirm the current name and device fit with the seller before ordering.
- Decide whether the front lip suits your use. Lowe found it changed his interaction with the phone. Your preference may differ, and the account does not establish a universal usability effect.
- Assess hinge coverage against bulk. Benks’ guide frames the choice as slim aramid, more substantial TPU hinge wrap, or no case; its thickness figures are manufacturer-published.
T3 points readers to Benks for more information, but the account does not supply direct product-listing URLs for the case, screen protector, or grip.
