Hot Wheels Infinite Rush brings open-world arcade racing, collectible cars and track building to Nintendo Switch 2, but its strengths come with a notable caveat: reviews disagree about how smoothly it runs, while several also criticize the handling and progression. It looks most appealing if you want an accessible Hot Wheels-themed racer and collection game; less so if you expect consistently precise driving or a tightly paced campaign.
What Hot Wheels Infinite Rush offers on Switch 2
Nintendo lists Hot Wheels Infinite Rush as a digital Switch 2 game released September 10, 2026, developed and published by Milestone. Its premise combines arcade races with a free-roaming world: explore four islands, take on events and challenges, collect more than 150 vehicles, and customize cars. Those vehicle and island counts are publisher-provided content descriptions.
The game includes four vehicle classes and a Track Builder for creating courses in its world. The combination gives it two distinct draws: racing through built-in events and engaging with the toy-car fantasy through collecting, customization and track creation. Nintendo lists the game at 12.7 GB and labels it “Users Interact” and “In-Game Purchases”; storefront details can vary by region or update.

Accessible arcade racing, with a trade-off in handling
Reviews commonly praise the approachable arcade premise, colorful cars and playful Hot Wheels setting. Final Weapon’s Chris Sanchez found the arcade controls easy to grasp and the vehicle classes a source of variety. But reviewers also identify a divide between racing on dedicated orange track and driving across open terrain: handling and drifting away from track can feel imprecise. Push Square’s view, reproduced in Nintendo Life’s September 6, 2026 roundup, was that moving to an open-world structure detracted from the experience.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
World size does not guarantee variety
The four-island setting provides room to explore, but some reviewers found the world underfilled or the campaign repetitive. The key question is whether you enjoy the loop of driving to events, racing, collecting and unlocking more content; the open world itself does not appear to resolve concerns about repetition or pacing.
Unlock pacing is another recurring criticism. Cubed3 reviewer Will Compton called it “a really solid driving game with some frustrating choices made here and there,” pointing to progression and unlock decisions as a weakness. That makes the game’s collection appeal dependent in part on whether its reward cadence works for you.

Switch 2 performance: reviewers report different experiences
Published Switch 2 reviews from September 2026 do not agree on performance. Nintendo Wire reviewer Matthew Powers reported 30 frames per second in handheld mode, along with long loads, stutters and input lag; the review said docked play did not materially improve the experience. Cubed3’s Will Compton, by contrast, described smooth play in both handheld and docked modes, while noting long loading and one instance of texture pop-in.
Final Weapon’s Chris Sanchez also reported long loads and freezes, as well as two crashes at the start of races during that review. Those are individual review observations, not an established crash rate. Taken together, the accounts suggest that load times are a recurring concern, but they do not establish a single consistent performance result across players or current game versions.

These impressions reflect reviews published in September 2026, not an independent retest or confirmation of performance after patches. No frame-time measurements or verified patch history are available here, so treat the specific frame-rate, stutter and crash reports as attributed reviewer experiences rather than a guarantee of what you will encounter.

| Cubed3 | 7/10 |
| Hardcore Gamer | 4.5/5 |
The range reflects the game’s split appeal: accessible, playful racing and car collecting win praise, while open-world handling, repetitive content, unlock pacing and technical concerns pull reviews in different directions.
Who should consider it?
- A good fit: players who want an approachable arcade racer, enjoy collecting and customizing cars, or like the idea of building tracks in a Hot Wheels world.
- A more cautious fit: players who prioritize precise handling on varied terrain, fast and consistently smooth performance, or a campaign with little repetition and a brisk unlock pace.
- For multiplayer: check whether your intended group matches the listed one-to-four-player local or two-to-twelve-player online modes, and note the Switch 2-only online restriction.
Verdict
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush has a clear appeal in its toy-box concept: a colorful open world, approachable arcade racing, a large vehicle collection and track building. The case for buying it on Switch 2 is less certain if performance consistency, precise open-world handling or progression are priorities. Reviews disagree on how smoothly it runs, and recurring criticism of loading and repetition makes this a better match for fans of the collection-and-play loop than for players seeking a polished, tightly paced racer.
