Verdict: HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush looks like a good fit on Xbox Series X|S if you want an open world to explore, a large car-collection loop and tools for building your own races. The main caveat is difficulty: one hands-on review found the races too easy. That reviewer played on PS5 Slim, however, so Xbox-specific performance and handling remain unverified here.
What kind of racing game is Infinite Rush?
It is an open-world arcade racer built around toy-scale environments. You can roam between races and activities rather than moving only from one event menu to the next. Milestone and Xbox Wire describe four islands, vehicle collection, a campaign and multiplayer as core parts of the game.
The islands are Wheelswood, Tentacle Bay, Gearville and Drifty Temples. Milestone describes their settings as skyscrapers, nature, industrial canyons and winding scenic roads, respectively. Activities include races, challenges, discoveries and encounters with rival crews; Rush Masters serve as island bosses, and beating them unlocks their cars.
That combination makes exploration as important to the pitch as racing. Xbox Wire’s Game Director Domenico Celenza describes the islands as places with races, free-roaming activities, hidden collectibles and discoveries that reward curiosity (Xbox Wire, September 7, 2026).

How do cars and progression work?
Milestone advertises more than 150 vehicles across four classes: Versatiles, Drifters, Speeders and Titans. The developer presents the classes as suited to different racing styles, including corner-focused drifting, straight-line speed and heavier power. The number is the developer’s stated roster size, not an independently audited count.
Cars are earned through events, activities and challenges. Players can assemble a Rush Squad and customize vehicles with perks as well as visual liveries, stickers and wheels. This gives the collection loop both a practical side—building cars for different approaches—and a cosmetic one.

Can you build and share custom tracks?
Yes. The Track Builder lets players connect track modules to terrain and buildings, shape routes around the environment and place action markers for AI-controlled opponents. Xbox Wire says creations can be shared with the community.

That is a notable creative feature on paper, but the official feature descriptions do not establish how easy the editor is to use, what its limits are or how active the sharing community is. Treat it as a promising tool rather than a proven reason to buy unless custom-track building is already a priority for you.

What modes can you play on Xbox?
Official materials list a single-player campaign, online multiplayer with cross-play, asynchronous and synchronous challenges, leaderboards, and split-screen for up to four players. Milestone’s platform notes exclude Nintendo Switch 2 from full cross-play; that caveat is specific to Switch 2 and should not be read as an Xbox limitation. Switch 2 also has separate sharing and race-competitor caveats, which do not describe the Xbox version.
For an Xbox player, the advertised options cover solo progression, online competition and local multiplayer. The four-player split-screen figure is a stated feature limit; it does not establish how the mode performs technically on Xbox.

Is the racing challenging?
The available hands-on assessment is mixed on difficulty. Nikita Achanta’s Tom’s Guide account, published September 6, 2026, reports nearly 15 hours played on PS5 Slim. She praised the open-world presentation, car-class variety, collection and split-screen play, but said races felt too easy early on (Tom’s Guide, September 6, 2026).

What is known about the Xbox version and updates?
Milestone lists Xbox Series X|S among the game’s platforms and labels the title available now on its official page, accessed October 7, 2026. Its September 29, 2026 update entry lists Xbox version 1.0.0.7. The note describes clarifying the Livery Editor’s community-guideline wording; it does not report performance, stability or gameplay changes (Milestone’s official game page).
No Xbox-specific hands-on results are established here for frame rate, resolution, loading, stability, controls, input latency or split-screen performance. The PS5 Slim account cannot fill that gap, so there is no sound basis for claiming how well the Xbox version performs in those areas.
Who should play it?
- Good fit: players who want to roam a Hot Wheels-scale world, discover activities and collect cars across different classes.
- Potentially appealing: players who enjoy creative tools, especially building routes and setting up AI opponents.
- Consider carefully: players who need a tough racing challenge, given the early difficulty criticism from one PS5 reviewer.
- Unresolved: anyone choosing specifically on Xbox technical performance, since Xbox-specific testing is not established by the available hands-on account.
Milestone announced a worldwide release date of September 10, 2026, with Early Access beginning September 7 for Ultimate Edition preorders. Its September 7 launch post and Xbox Wire both reported Xbox Early Access availability that day (Milestone’s announcement; Xbox Wire). Current price and edition availability are not established here, so check the Xbox storefront before buying.
