Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is a free-roaming arcade racer built around four islands, collectible cars, and classic races. Its Nintendo Switch 2 reviews are mixed: reviewers like the exploration and car collecting, but flag repetitive activities, confusing progression, long loading screens, and—in one account—handheld performance and input issues. It may suit players who want to explore a Hot Wheels world; those looking primarily for tightly structured racing should weigh the reported drawbacks.
What kind of racer is Hot Wheels Infinite Rush?
Milestone announced Hot Wheels Infinite Rush on June 5, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X, and PC, with release set for September 10, 2026. Its central shift from traditional track racing is a world players can roam between events. Milestone describes four islands, each with its own atmosphere, alongside races and free-roaming activities. Milestone’s announcement calls this a chance to “freely explore a Hot Wheels™-sized world”—a description of the premise, not an independent review.
Cars, events, and creative tools
Milestone says the game includes more than 150 vehicles across four classes. Players can collect cars, form a Rush Squad, and customize vehicles with stickers, liveries, and wheels. That vehicle figure is the developer’s published count, not an independent tally.
The announcement also highlights multiplayer and an enhanced track builder. Players can attach track pieces to environmental surfaces and add AI-controlled virtual opponents. On Switch 2, Milestone says races have six competitors. These features make creation and collection part of the pitch, not just a way to get from one race to the next.

What do Switch 2 reviews say?
Reception is mixed rather than uniformly positive or negative. The September 6, 2026, Nintendo Life review roundup reflects both praise for accessible racing and collecting cars and criticism of the open-world structure, drifting, and progression. That range matters: whether the game works for you may depend on how much you enjoy roaming and collecting between races.
Exploration and collecting are the clearest draws
Nintendo Wire’s reviewer found the islands visually imaginative, while Nintendo Insider was more positive about free-roaming, collecting, and racing. Together, those impressions suggest the game’s most distinctive appeal is its Hot Wheels setting expanded into an explorable world rather than a sequence of races alone.

Progression and activity design are less convincing
Nintendo Wire criticizes the open-world commute and campaign repetition, as well as the handling. Nintendo Insider says progression can be confusing. The Nintendo Wire review and Nintendo Insider review therefore point to a tension in the design: exploration and collecting can be enjoyable, but the structure around those activities may feel repetitive or unclear.

Published performance impressions raise concerns, but they are reviewers’ accounts, not independent benchmark results. Nintendo Wire reports 30 fps in handheld mode, stutters in some open areas, and some input lag; it also notes 1080p resolution and draw distance. Nintendo Insider reports lengthy loading waits that can reach around 30 seconds. That review says its copy was provided by Milestone and awards the game 7/10.

These observations describe the reviewed versions and conditions, not a guarantee that every player will see the same results. No independent benchmark or post-patch technical test is established here, and software updates could change performance. If you are especially sensitive to loading or control responsiveness, the reported issues are worth considering before buying.
Who is it for—and who may want to wait?
- Consider it if you want to roam a Hot Wheels-themed world, hunt for cars, and mix exploration with arcade races.
- Be cautious if you prefer a clearly guided campaign, consistently varied activities, or a racer focused on direct track-to-track competition.
- Check current impressions if handheld performance and loading time are decisive for you; the available reports are review observations, not controlled comparisons, and updates may alter them.
There is no direct benchmark here against other Switch 2 racers, so the evidence does not establish how it performs relative to them. A useful comparison when choosing a racer is whether you want open-world exploration or structured track racing, and how much reported loading and progression friction you are willing to accept.
