Hostinger’s Linux VPS is worth considering if you want a low-cost, customizable server and are prepared to administer it yourself. It is not a fully managed Linux server: you configure and maintain the system, software, and server settings. The published plans show resource allocations and regional promotional prices, but they do not establish real-world speed or uptime.

What Hostinger means by Linux hosting

Here, “Linux hosting” means a virtual private server (VPS) running a Linux distribution you choose. Hostinger provides root access and describes two administration routes: command-line access over SSH or a graphical control panel. Its official Linux VPS page lists AlmaLinux, Alpine Linux, Arch Linux, CentOS, CloudLinux, Debian, Fedora, Kali Linux, openSUSE, Rocky Linux, and Ubuntu among supported distributions, and cPanel, CyberPanel, and CloudPanel among supported control panels. Check current availability and compatibility for your intended software before buying.

The key distinction is who manages the server. Hostinger’s Linux VPS FAQ says, “As a Linux VPS hosting provider, we offer self-managed services, meaning you will be the only one who can access your server configuration settings.” In practice, you are responsible for configuring the operating system, installing and maintaining software, and ensuring the server has enough resources. Hostinger says support can answer general questions and provides tutorials and knowledge-base material, but the VPS is still self-managed.

What the published Linux VPS plans cost

The following figures are from Hostinger’s UK Linux VPS page as available in the cited source. They are term-based promotional prices, not month-to-month rates. Hostinger says plans are paid upfront and the monthly equivalent is calculated by dividing the term total by the number of months. Prices and plan details can change, so confirm the checkout total and renewal rate before ordering.

Plan Published resources UK price on a two-year term Published renewal rate
KVM 1 1 vCPU core, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe storage, 4 TB bandwidth £4.99/month equivalent £10.99/month
KVM 8 8 vCPU cores, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB NVMe storage, 32 TB bandwidth £18.99/month equivalent £39.99/month

The two plans illustrate the range, not the entire lineup: Hostinger lists intermediate tiers between them. The lower entry price comes with a significant renewal increase, and the monthly equivalent does not mean you can pay monthly at that rate. These are UK-region prices and should not be applied to other currencies or locations.

How to judge whether the resources fit

Choose a VPS by matching its vCPU, memory, disk, and bandwidth to your application, expected traffic, and operating requirements. Hostinger explicitly advises buyers to make sure the selected plan has sufficient resources. A plan’s published allocation alone does not predict a particular website’s speed, capacity, or uptime: those depend on the workload and configuration, and the cited material provides no independent performance measurements.

Do not confuse the VPS with shared web hosting. Shared hosting places resource limits around a hosting account and is typically a different choice for people who do not want to administer an operating system. Hostinger’s help-center table gives these limits for three shared web-hosting plans:

Shared plan CPU cores RAM Disk PHP workers
Web Single 1 1 GB 10 GB 20
Premium 1 2 GB 20 GB 40
Unlimited 2 3 GB 50 GB 60

These figures are from Hostinger’s shared hosting limits article; that source also specifies database counts, database size, PHP limits, and other caps. “Unlimited” is a plan name, not a promise of unlimited resources. Hostinger says staying within plan parameters matters; exceeding limits can contribute to errors such as “503 Service temporarily unavailable.”

What backups, security features, and guarantees are advertised

Hostinger advertises automatic weekly backups and the ability to create a manual snapshot before major changes on its Linux VPS page. It also lists a malware scanner, firewall management, DDoS traffic filtering, and a dedicated IP. These are vendor-described features; the cited information does not independently assess their effectiveness.

The Linux VPS page advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee. Read the linked refund policy for eligibility and exclusions before relying on that period. These VPS terms should not be assumed to describe every web-hosting plan or its backup schedule.

Who may find it worthwhile

  • Developers and technically confident site owners: Root access, a choice of Linux distributions, and the ability to install software offer flexibility if you are willing to handle administration.
  • People whose applications need a VPS: Compare the listed resources with actual application requirements rather than treating a plan tier as a performance guarantee.
  • Beginners who want server management handled: The self-managed VPS is a poor fit if you do not want responsibility for configuration and maintenance. Consider a web-hosting product instead, and check its specific resource limits and support scope.

How to compare it with another hosting option

Compare providers and product types on the same practical terms. In particular, distinguish self-managed VPS from managed or shared hosting; the headline monthly prices are not comparable unless you account for term length, upfront payment, region, and renewal costs.

  • Whether root access is included and how much server administration is your responsibility.
  • vCPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth or traffic allowances, and the limits that matter to your workload.
  • The total upfront contract price and the renewal rate, with currency, region, and term stated.
  • Backup frequency and how restoring a backup or snapshot works.
  • Which server-level problems the provider’s support will handle.
  • Available regions and data-center locations.

No comparable current competitor plans are established here, so there is no basis to call another provider the best alternative or to make a comparative price or performance claim.

What this review can—and cannot—establish

This is a source-based assessment, not a hands-on review: no server was purchased or tested. The plan specifications, prices, features, and guarantee above are Hostinger’s published claims, not observed results. The cited official material does not establish independent uptime or load-test performance, so it cannot support a claim that the VPS is especially fast or reliable.
