Honkai Impact 3rd does not have one universal pity counter. Each Supply type can have its own featured reward, guarantee threshold, carryover terms, and event bonuses. Before spending Crystals or Supply Cards, open the active banner’s in-game details and check its exact counter, drop rates, featured items, and carryover rules. A guarantee shown for one Supply is not evidence that another Supply works the same way.
If you are asking “How does pity work?”, “Does pity carry over?”, or “How many pulls guarantee the item I want?”, the answer starts with the exact Supply currently open. The official examples below show how terms have differed across Battlesuit, Equipment, and AstralOp Supplies, but they are dated examples—not a live schedule or universal promise.
What “Supply,” “drops,” and “pity” mean
Supply is the game’s term for its gacha banners. A drop is one draw from a Supply. Players commonly call a banner’s guarantee system pity: after a stated number of drops without the specified reward, the banner guarantees that reward, if its terms say so.

A banner might guarantee a particular featured S-rank battlesuit, a featured weapon, or an item of a particular rarity. Those are different outcomes. A guarantee for a 4-star equipment item does not, by itself, guarantee the featured weapon; a featured battlesuit guarantee says nothing about an equipment banner.
It helps to separate three questions that are easy to blend together: what kind of reward is guaranteed, at what threshold, and under which Supply’s terms? The phrase “guaranteed within 10 drops” answers only the threshold for the item specified in that banner text. It does not automatically mean the featured item is guaranteed, nor that another banner uses the same counter. Likewise, a guarantee for one featured item should not be read as a guarantee for a full equipment set unless the active terms explicitly promise the full set.
Supply names and schedules change across versions and events. Use the name shown on the banner currently open in your game, not an old guide’s label or a number remembered from a previous event. The official HoYoverse news index retrieved on October 10, 2026 listed v9.0, announced August 20, 2026, as its latest update; that does not establish which banners are live on your server today or their current terms.
How to check the active banner before pulling
- Open the current Supply. Identify its exact in-game name and reward category, such as Battlesuit Supply, Equipment Supply, or AstralOp Supply. Do not assume two similarly timed banners share a counter.
- Open the banner’s details or rules. Read the displayed drop rates, featured items, guarantee description, and any counter or remaining-drops indicator. Confirm what the guarantee actually awards. If a page gives a threshold but you cannot tell which item it applies to, do not treat the threshold as a promise for your desired item.
- Check carryover wording on that Supply. Look for whether progress carries over, and specify which later Supply it applies to. If the active terms do not say that it does, do not rely on progress transferring to another banner. “Carryover” should mean progress moving under a rule actually stated for that Supply, not an assumption based on the existence of a counter.
- Check event milestones separately. Some event banners award cards or other items at specified milestones. Confirm which Supply and event those rewards belong to, how many drops qualify, the maximum reward, and when the offer ends. Bonus rewards can have their own eligibility conditions separate from the featured-item guarantee.
- Check the cost shown in game. Use the current Crystal or Supply Card price for that banner and your region. No current universal cost or exact live-banner price is established here. Do not calculate a budget from an old notice’s discount or assume a card bonus will be available unless it is part of the active offer.
- Match your goal to the guarantee. If you want a battlesuit, inspect the Battlesuit Supply; for a weapon or stigma, inspect the Equipment Supply; for an AstralOp, inspect the AstralOp Supply. If you want a particular featured item, verify that the guarantee names it rather than only naming a rarity category.
HoYoverse’s official v8.1 Update Content Preview (2025) directs players to follow in-game announcements for version events and bonuses. That is a useful distinction: general version previews are not a substitute for the exact terms displayed on the active Supply.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →A practical way to read the details is to scan for the reward name first, then the guarantee sentence, then the counter and carryover terms, and only then any bonus. This order helps avoid a common mistake: seeing a small number attached to a rarity guarantee and assuming it is the threshold for a featured character or weapon. Check the price and the event’s end timing as a separate final step; a banner’s guarantee wording alone does not tell you the current cost or how long the offer remains available.
What the official dated examples establish
Official notices provide concrete examples of how different Supplies can set different guarantees. The figures below describe the named banners and versions in those notices; they are not a promise that every current or future banner uses the same thresholds.
| Supply and official notice | Stated guarantee or reward | What that does—and does not—mean |
|---|---|---|
| Battlesuit Supply example: v8.2 Roving Among Clouds Update Announcement, April 24, 2025 | Featured S-rank battlesuit Peregrine Sword guaranteed within 90 drops. The first 10 drops were 50% off. | The 90-drop figure applied to that featured battlesuit example. The discount described the first 10 drops in that notice; it is not a standing discount for all Supplies. |
| Battlesuit Supply example: v7.8 New S-rank Battlesuit Lone Planetfarer Debuts!, October 5, 2024 | Featured S-rank battlesuit guaranteed within 90 drops. | This is a separate dated example supporting a 90-drop guarantee for that named featured battlesuit Supply, not a universal current guarantee. |
| Equipment Supply example: v7.8 New S-rank Battlesuit Lone Planetfarer Debuts!, October 5, 2024 | A 4-star weapon or stigma guaranteed within every 10 Equipment Supply drops; featured weapon Skyveil Feathers guaranteed within 60 drops. | The 10-drop guarantee was for a 4-star equipment item. The named featured-weapon guarantee was a separate, higher threshold of 60 drops. |
| AstralOp Supply example: v9.0 The Light at Dream’s End Update Announcement, August 20, 2026 | AstralOp Senadina guaranteed within 60 AstralOp Supply drops. Every 10 drops among the first 60 also awarded two Equipment Supply Cards, up to 12 cards. | Both the AstralOp guarantee and card milestones were tied to this named event Supply. They do not establish a Battlesuit or Equipment Supply rule. |
Read the two Equipment Supply thresholds separately. If a notice says that a 4-star item is guaranteed within 10 drops, it does not mean the featured weapon is guaranteed within 10. In the v7.8 example, the featured weapon had its own 60-drop guarantee.
The examples also show why a table of “pity numbers” without banner names can mislead. The two 90-drop figures belong to named S-rank Battlesuit Supply examples from v7.8 and v8.2. The 60-drop weapon figure belongs to the featured Skyveil Feathers in a v7.8 Equipment Supply. The other 60-drop figure belongs to AstralOp Senadina in the v9.0 AstralOp Supply. Identical numbers do not make the reward categories, counters, or event conditions interchangeable.
Recommended Free Tools
The v8.2 notice’s first-10-drops discount is a price promotion, not a change in what the 90-drop guarantee covered. Similarly, the v9.0 Equipment Supply Cards were milestone rewards attached to the AstralOp event Supply; they were not extra drops toward a Battlesuit guarantee. Treat a discount, an item guarantee, and a milestone reward as three separate lines in the offer unless the notice expressly combines them.

Do pity counters carry over?
There is no safe blanket answer for every Honkai Impact 3rd Supply. Carryover must be established by the terms of the active banner, including which type of Supply the progress belongs to and whether it transfers to a later banner. A counter displayed on one banner does not prove that another banner shares it.
Before stopping partway through a banner, read its carryover terms and note the counter shown in game. If you cannot verify that the remaining progress transfers to the next banner you plan to use, make your decision as though it may not. Do not infer a carryover rule from a guarantee number in an older notice, a different Supply category, or a community post.
When checking a possible transfer, be precise about the destination: the relevant question is not merely “does pity carry over?” but “does progress from this named Supply carry over to the next Supply of the same type, to a named event banner, or somewhere else?” The live terms need to establish both the progress and the destination. If they do not, there is not enough basis to plan around a transfer.

Older player resources may use names such as Expansion Supply and Focused Supply. The community wiki’s Supplies page describes Expansion’s rename to Battlesuit Supply and Focused’s rename to Equipment Supply; its Focused Supply page is explicitly labeled legacy content. These pages can help explain older terminology, but legacy counter details are historical context, not current instructions. If an old guide conflicts with the active banner, follow the live in-game details and the current official notice for the same server and event.
This is especially important when search results or older posts use “Focused A/B” language. The wiki’s Focused Supply material is marked legacy, so its counter descriptions should not be copied into a current pull plan without confirmation in the game. Names can help identify what an older source was discussing, but they cannot verify today’s rules, current featured pool, or a carryover destination.
How many drops guarantee a battlesuit or weapon?
Only the active banner can answer that for the item you want. The official examples in the table show 90 drops for two named S-rank Battlesuit Supply examples, 60 drops for the featured Skyveil Feathers weapon in a v7.8 Equipment Supply example, and 60 drops for AstralOp Senadina in the v9.0 AstralOp Supply example. They are not interchangeable thresholds.
To plan around a stated guarantee, use the remaining-drops number displayed on the specific banner and the current cost shown in game. A “within 60 drops” notice describes the guarantee ceiling for its named item and Supply; it does not establish an expected pull count, a success rate before the guarantee, or the cost of reaching it. This guide does not calculate a spend estimate because current banner costs, currency requirements, and regional terms are not established by those dated examples.
For example, the v7.8 Equipment Supply notice gives two different answers to “how many pulls?” depending on what you mean: a 4-star weapon or stigma was guaranteed within every 10 Equipment Supply drops, while the featured Skyveil Feathers weapon was guaranteed within 60 drops. If your goal is the featured weapon, the 10-drop rarity guarantee is not the relevant finish line. The v9.0 notice’s 60-drop figure, meanwhile, was for AstralOp Senadina—not a weapon or battlesuit.

Do not turn a guarantee ceiling into an expected pull count. The official notices cited here establish stated guarantees for named banners, not an average number of drops, a probability curve, or a recommendation to spend. If the banner shows a current remaining-drops counter, use that counter for that banner and verify whether it is the progress that applies to the reward you want.
- Want a battlesuit? Read the Battlesuit Supply’s featured-item and guarantee text.
- Want a weapon or stigma? Read the Equipment Supply’s featured-item text, and distinguish its rarity guarantee from any featured-item guarantee.
- Want an AstralOp? Read the AstralOp Supply’s guarantee and event milestones.
- Want a complete equipment set or another reward? Confirm that the banner explicitly guarantees that exact outcome; a guarantee for one item does not establish a complete set.
Event bonuses are not part of every banner
Some Supplies add milestone rewards beyond the banner’s normal drops. In the v9.0 AstralOp event example, every 10 drops within the first 60 awarded two Equipment Supply Cards, with a maximum of 12 cards from those milestones. Those bonus cards were attached to that event’s AstralOp Supply terms; they are not a universal feature of AstralOp, Battlesuit, or Equipment Supplies.
Likewise, the first-10-drop, 50%-off offer in the v8.2 Peregrine Sword notice was specific to that notice. Do not budget around an old discount or milestone reward unless the current banner explicitly shows it. Check the eligible Supply, milestone intervals, maximum reward, and event timing in the current in-game announcement.
When an event advertises a bonus, read the qualifying conditions closely. In the v9.0 example, the card reward was tied to every 10 drops of the first 60 drops in that AstralOp Supply, with two Equipment Supply Cards awarded at each stated milestone and up to 12 cards total. That cap matters: it describes the maximum from those milestones, not an unlimited bonus for further pulls. It also does not say that the cards alter the AstralOp guarantee or carry over progress to a different Supply.
For the v8.2 offer, the stated 50% reduction applied to the first 10 drops in that named Battlesuit Supply example. It should not be used as a current price estimate or assumed to apply to a later version. Always separate the displayed cost of a pull from the reward promised at a milestone; one is a price term and the other is an event reward term.

Comparing Supply types without mixing their rules
A useful comparison is not just a list of numbers. For each banner, compare the reward category, guarantee target, threshold, carryover wording, bonus rewards, and current price shown in the game. The dated examples establish some of these items for named events, but they do not establish a universal answer for every category.
- Reward category: Is the banner for a battlesuit, equipment, an AstralOp, an outfit, or another event reward? The exact category tells you where to look, but it does not by itself tell you the guarantee.
- Guarantee target: Does the text promise any item of a rarity, a named featured character, a named weapon, or a larger set? Read the target, not just the word “guaranteed.”
- Counter threshold: Record the number stated for that exact reward and Supply. Do not transfer a 90- or 60-drop figure from another category or version.
- Carryover: Verify whether unused progress persists and which later Supply receives it. If the banner does not establish that, there is no reliable carryover answer to apply.
- Bonus rewards: Check whether milestones award cards or other items, how often they trigger, what the cap is, and whether the bonus is event-limited.
- Currency and cost: Use the Crystal or Supply Card cost shown in the current game. Historical prices or discounts do not establish the present cost in your region.
The official v8.1 event preview lists multiple distinct Supply types and tells readers to follow in-game announcements for more details. That is another reason to compare the terms banner by banner rather than treating every event schedule as a single shared system.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCommon mistakes and how to avoid them
- Treating every Supply as one banner family: Battlesuit, Equipment, and AstralOp Supplies can target different rewards and have different guarantees. Verify the exact banner name.
- Confusing rarity pity with featured-item pity: A guaranteed 4-star equipment drop is not automatically the featured weapon. Read the target named in the guarantee.
- Assuming progress carries forward: Verify the active banner’s carryover wording and destination. Do not carry over a rule from another Supply or an older version.
- Using old labels as proof of current mechanics: Expansion and Focused terminology may refer to earlier versions or legacy material. Match old terminology to the current in-game Supply before using a guide’s numbers.
- Counting on event rewards from an earlier version: Discounts, Supply Cards, and other milestones can be event-specific. Confirm they appear in the active event’s terms.
- Planning from a dated example as if it were live: The official examples here are from v7.8, v8.2, and v9.0. They explain those notices, not today’s server schedule or every banner’s conditions.
- Assuming a guarantee equals a complete build: A guarantee for one featured weapon or one battlesuit does not establish a complete equipment set or every item you want. Check each reward’s wording individually.
- Estimating spending from a drop threshold alone: A number of drops is not a current cost. Check the displayed currency price and your remaining counter, and do not treat a historical discount as active.
- Counting a bonus as part of the main guarantee: Event cards and other milestones may be awarded alongside a specific event Supply, but they are separate from the item named in its guarantee unless the terms say otherwise.
Before you spend
Use the active banner’s in-game details as the final source for the current rate, featured pool, guarantee counter, carryover, event bonus, and currency cost. If any one of those is unclear, pause rather than treating a historical example as a promise. HoYoverse’s v8.1 event preview explicitly says to follow in-game announcements for version events and bonuses; banner-specific terms are what make a pull plan reliable.
A simple pre-pull checklist is: name the Supply, name the exact reward you want, confirm the guarantee target and remaining counter, verify carryover to the specific future banner if you plan to stop early, and check current cost and any eligible event bonus. If a line is missing or ambiguous, do not fill it in from another banner’s rules. That approach answers the practical pity questions without mistaking old thresholds, rarity guarantees, or event rewards for a current featured-item promise.

How does pity work in Honkai Impact 3rd?
Pity is a guarantee tied to the terms of a particular Supply. Check what reward the banner guarantees and the stated drop threshold; a rarity guarantee, a featured battlesuit guarantee, and a featured weapon guarantee are different outcomes.
Does pity carry over to the next banner?
There is no safe blanket answer for every Supply. Read the active banner’s carryover terms and verify which later Supply, if any, receives the progress. Do not assume banners share a counter.

How many pulls do I need to guarantee a battlesuit or weapon?
Use the guarantee and remaining-drops counter shown on the active banner for the exact item you want. Official dated examples include 90 drops for named S-rank Battlesuit Supplies and 60 drops for the featured Skyveil Feathers weapon in a v7.8 Equipment Supply, but those figures do not establish current terms for another banner.
Are character and equipment pity shared?
Do not assume they are shared. Battlesuit and Equipment Supplies are distinct categories, and progress should only be treated as shared or transferable if the active Supply’s terms explicitly say so.
Does a 10-drop equipment guarantee mean I get the featured weapon?
Not necessarily. In HoYoverse’s v7.8 example, a 4-star weapon or stigma was guaranteed within every 10 Equipment Supply drops, while the featured Skyveil Feathers weapon had a separate guarantee within 60 drops.

Use those names as historical terminology only. The community wiki describes Expansion and Focused as renamed to Battlesuit and Equipment Supply, and labels its Focused Supply page legacy. Verify current rules in the live banner details.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Honkai Impact 3rd has no single pity rule you can safely apply to every Supply. Verify the active banner’s reward target, guarantee threshold, carryover terms, event bonuses, and displayed cost before spending. Historical examples—90 drops for named Battlesuit Supplies, 60 for a named featured weapon or AstralOp, and separate 10-drop equipment rarity guarantees—illustrate why each number must stay attached to its specific banner and reward.
