There is no permanent, guaranteed Honey Sprite coordinate in Fortnite v42.40. Honey Sprites use dynamic event loot and roaming Sprite behavior, so the reliable approach is a repeatable search route: prioritize Pumpkin chests, check ordinary and rare chests, smash loose Pumpkins, use any active Trick or Treat Cheat Codes, and follow Sprite Shrine reveals. Nightmare Neighborhood and the other named points of interest are opportunity areas, not guaranteed spawns. Sprites are unavailable in competitive modes.
What changed with Honey Sprite in v42.40
Honey Sprite arrived with Fortnite version 42.40 on October 15, 2026, during Fortnitemares. Its location system is built around the event’s loot pool rather than a collectible sitting at one fixed map coordinate. A chest, Pumpkin, shrine reveal or code can produce a Sprite, but the result is randomized. That is why a route that worked in one match can be empty in the next, and why no named point of interest should be presented as a guaranteed Honey location.
Use the locations below as a way to concentrate your searches around dense loot. They improve the number of containers and event objects you can check before rotating, but they do not override random drop rules. If the event loot pool or playlist changes in a later update, the route can change with it.
The fastest Honey Sprite route for each supported match
- Land beside several Pumpkin chests. Start near a cluster rather than a single isolated chest. Nightmare Neighborhood is the lead recommendation, with the other route areas listed in the table below.
- Open Pumpkin chests before anything else. Current reporting identifies them as the best or fastest source for the new Sprite pool. Check every Pumpkin chest in the immediate landing area before rotating.
- Continue through ordinary and rare chests. If the Pumpkin chests do not produce Honey, clear nearby standard and rare chests. Drop rates are randomized, so moving between several containers is more productive than waiting beside one chest.
- Smash loose Pumpkins. Break the decorative Pumpkins around buildings and paths after the chests are cleared. They are another event-loot opportunity and can be checked while you move toward the next cluster.
- Enter an available Trick or Treat Cheat Code. Codes are event-dependent. If a code appears corrupted, hit it once with your pickaxe and try entering it again, as reported for the current event route.
- Use a Sprite Shrine when you find one. Activate it to reveal nearby Sprites, then search the revealed area. The reveal narrows your search but does not identify Honey as the Sprite type.
- Add a locator Gizmo when the collection system and playlist support it. Lucky Locator and Cheat Code Locator Gizmos can create a more targeted route. Epic describes Gizmos as consumables that shortcut or boost Sprite extraction, with inventory lasting for the season.
When a landing site is contested, take the first safe Pumpkin chest and rotate rather than fighting for one remaining container. The route’s advantage comes from the number of checks you can make, not from a hidden guaranteed chest.

Recommended areas and what they are (and are not)
The following areas are repeatedly recommended because they offer useful loot routes or Pumpkin-chest opportunities. None is a confirmed permanent Honey Sprite spawn point.

Choose among these areas based on the Battle Bus, storm circle and opponent traffic. A quieter secondary route with several containers can yield more attempts than a famous landing spot where another squad takes the first chests.
How Pumpkin chests, normal chests and Pumpkins fit together
Pumpkin chests: first priority
Pumpkin chests are the event-specific source to prioritize because current guides describe them as the best or fastest way into the new Sprite pool. Land with enough time to inspect a cluster, open each chest, and collect the rest of the loot only after checking for a Sprite. Finding no Honey in the first chest is not evidence that the area is wrong; it is a random result.
Ordinary and rare chests: your backup pool
After the Pumpkin chests, sweep ordinary and rare chests along the same route. Their contents are also randomized, so the practical goal is to increase the number of independent checks. Keep a weapon and mobility item while searching so that a failed chest sequence does not leave you trapped when the storm moves.
Loose Pumpkins: low-cost extra checks
Smashing nearby loose Pumpkins takes little time and can be combined with your rotation. Clear those closest to buildings, paths and the next chest cluster first. Do not remain in one spot trying to force a drop; the event does not provide a documented pity counter or guaranteed number of attempts.

Sprite Shrines reveal targets, not Honey type
A Sprite Shrine is a scouting tool. Activating one can reveal nearby Sprites and turn a broad area into a smaller search zone. Once the reveal appears, move through that area and collect the Sprite you find. The shrine does not guarantee that the revealed Sprite is Honey, and it does not convert another Sprite into Honey.
Use a shrine after checking the nearest high-value chest or when you need information before crossing open ground. If the reveal points toward a location already looted, continue to the next chest cluster rather than camping the shrine. The information is valuable because it saves travel time, not because it changes the underlying Honey odds.

Cheat Codes and locator Gizmos
Trick or Treat Cheat Codes
Cheat Codes are tied to the Fortnitemares event and may not appear in every playlist or after every update. When one is available, enter it as part of the route after checking the nearby chests. A corrupted code may require one pickaxe hit before you can enter it again. Treat that behavior as an event interaction, not as proof that the code guarantees Honey.
Lucky Locator and Cheat Code Locator Gizmos
If your collection system and current playlist support them, Lucky Locator or Cheat Code Locator Gizmos provide additional targeted routes. Epic characterizes Gizmos as consumables that shortcut or boost Sprite extraction and says their inventory lasts for the season. Because they are consumables, save one for a match in which you can follow the resulting lead instead of activating it just before an immediate rotation.
What Honey Sprite does after you collect it
Equip Honey Sprite, then deal damage with a ranged weapon. Its documented effect is: “Chance to spawn bees at the hit location upon dealing damage with a ranged weapon.” The wording matters: the bee event is chance-based, so a ranged hit will not create bees every time. You can therefore use the Sprite’s effect as an additional combat opportunity, not as a guaranteed damage or crowd-control trigger.

Make sure the Sprite is equipped before testing the effect. A missed trigger can otherwise be mistaken for a bug when the Sprite was collected but not active, the weapon was not ranged, or the random chance simply failed. The effect is tied to dealing damage with the ranged weapon, not merely aiming, firing into the air or using a close-range attack.

Honey Sprite progression and reported proc chances
Beebom reports the following bee-proc chances by Honey Sprite level:

These percentages are guide-reported figures from 2026, not an Epic-published balance table. Broader Honey Sprite rarity and drop statistics had not been published in the available reporting, so do not treat the level figures as a promise about how often a match will award Honey. They describe the reported effect after you already have and equip the Sprite.

Epic Player Support states that “Sprites are not available for competitive modes.” The search route therefore applies to supported Battle Royale playlists, not competitive modes. A competitive match can contain the same named locations while still offering no Sprite loot, which is a playlist rule rather than a failed search.
Fortnitemares loot, Cheat Codes, Gizmos and shrine behavior are event-dependent. After an update, check whether the current playlist still supports Sprites before changing your landing route. If a patch removes the event pool, no amount of chest searching will restore Honey Sprite spawns in that mode.

Troubleshooting a match with no Honey Sprite
No Pumpkin chests at the landing area
Do not assume the route has failed because the first building lacks a Pumpkin chest. Search the next cluster, then switch to ordinary or rare chests and loose Pumpkins. The named areas are opportunity zones, not fixed coordinates.
A shrine reveals a Sprite but it is not Honey
This is expected. A shrine reveals nearby Sprites, not a guaranteed Honey type. Collect the revealed Sprite if it helps your loadout, then continue the chest-and-Pumpkin route for another Honey attempt.
A Cheat Code will not accept input
If the code appears corrupted, strike it once with your pickaxe and try again. If it remains unavailable, treat the code as inactive in that match or playlist and continue searching containers.
Sprites never appear in the match
Verify that you are in a supported Battle Royale playlist rather than a competitive mode. Then consider whether the Fortnitemares event loot is still active after the latest update. A mode restriction or event rotation can explain a completely empty route.
The bee effect does not trigger
Confirm that Honey Sprite is equipped and that you dealt damage with a ranged weapon. Even when both conditions are met, the effect is a chance, not a guaranteed proc. Repeated non-triggering hits are possible, especially at the lower reported levels.
A practical search checklist
- Confirm the match is a supported Battle Royale playlist.
- Pick a recommended route area that fits the bus and storm.
- Land beside multiple Pumpkin chests.
- Open every Pumpkin chest in the first cluster.
- Check nearby ordinary and rare chests.
- Smash loose Pumpkins while rotating.
- Enter an active Trick or Treat Cheat Code; pickaxe a corrupted code once before retrying.
- Activate a Sprite Shrine and search its revealed area.
- Use a Lucky Locator or Cheat Code Locator Gizmo when supported and when you can follow its lead.
- Equip Honey Sprite before testing its ranged-hit bee effect.
The repeatable answer to “How do I get a Honey Sprite every match?” is that you cannot guarantee one. You can maximize attempts by following this route, but randomized loot, roaming behavior and playlist rules still determine the result.
