Homey Pro (2026) is chiefly a memory upgrade: it has 4 GB of RAM, compared with 2 GB in Homey Pro (2023), while Homey lists the same processor, storage, and connectivity for both generations. Homey’s US product page listed the 2026 hub at $449 when accessed in 2026. That makes it easiest to recommend to someone choosing a new hub who values its broad radio support and automation features—not to an existing 2023 owner expecting a wholesale hardware overhaul.

Homey Pro 2026 vs. 2023: what changed?

Homey’s 2026 model doubles RAM, but the official comparison does not show a new processor, more flash storage, or a different radio suite. The comparison lists both generations together for connectivity and software support.

Specification Homey Pro (2023) Homey Pro (2026)
RAM 2 GB 4 GB
Processor 1.5 GHz quad-core 1.5 GHz quad-core
Flash storage 8 GB 8 GB
Software updates At least June 2031 At least June 2031

These specifications come from Homey’s 2025 announcement and its official model comparison. Homey says the extra memory lets the 2026 hub run well over 100 Homey Apps; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently tested capacity threshold. The available evidence does not establish how much faster or more reliable the new model is in everyday use.

What does Homey Pro cost?

Homey’s US product page listed Homey Pro (2026) at $449 when accessed in 2026; prices and availability can change. The $399 US price and €399 price in Homey’s 2025 announcement were launch prices, not the current page price. Check the Homey Pro product page for the price at purchase.

The Ethernet Adapter is an optional $29 accessory on that US page, not a requirement for setup: the hub also supports Wi-Fi. Homey describes the adapter as adding wired Ethernet and Homey Bridge as extending wireless coverage and enabling satellite operation; the page listed Bridge at $69. Homey also lists cloud backups at $10 per year and says local backups to a Mac or PC are available. Treat those displayed prices as subject to change, and keep the optional backup subscription separate from the hub’s purchase price.

Matter support is broad, but device-level checks still matter

Homey Support reports that Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server are certified as Matter 1.5 controllers by the Connectivity Standards Alliance. Its Matter device-type list, updated July 29, 2026, includes lights, sockets, buttons, locks, climate and energy products, environmental and safety sensors, robot vacuums, speakers, video players, and window coverings. Certification and category support do not guarantee that every device model or manufacturer-specific feature will work. Check the exact device and Homey integration before buying.

What software and automation features are included?

Homey lists Advanced Flow, Energy, Dashboards, Insights, HomeyScript, apps, remote access, app-store access, and voice-assistant integration on the product page. That is a substantial set of automation and monitoring tools on paper, but the product documentation alone does not establish how easy each feature is to configure or how well it performs in a particular home.

Homey says the Energy tab is available on Homey Pro (2023–2026), with the full Energy feature set, including third-party meter support. See Homey’s Energy tab availability guide for the stated model coverage.

Does Homey Pro work without an internet connection?

Homey describes Pro as processing everything locally with minimal or necessary cloud use, and says it remains up when the internet is down. This is a local-first design claim, not proof that every connected device and service will keep working offline. Integrations that rely on a manufacturer’s cloud API may behave differently from devices controlled locally. Before depending on offline automation, check whether each device integration uses local communication or an internet service.

Should a Homey Pro (2023) owner upgrade?

For an owner whose 2023 hub meets current needs, the documented case for upgrading is limited to the move from 2 GB to 4 GB RAM. Homey lists the same processor, storage, protocol set, and minimum support horizon for both generations. The available specifications do not show that the additional memory will improve a particular home’s performance; its practical value depends on app load and whether the existing hub is running into memory constraints.

For someone buying a hub now, the 2026 model offers the newer 4 GB configuration and Homey’s stated support through at least June 2031. Homey makes the same at-least-June-2031 update commitment for the 2023 model, so support longevity alone does not distinguish them. The choice rests on price, the value of extra memory for your setup, and whether Homey’s protocol and integration coverage fits the devices you own.

Who is Homey Pro 2026 for?

  • Consider it if you want a hub with the listed combination of Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, infrared, and 433 MHz support, subject to the regional 433 MHz restriction and device-level compatibility checks.
  • It may suit you if you want local-first processing and Homey’s listed automation, dashboard, and energy features, while understanding that some integrations may still depend on the internet.
  • Think carefully before upgrading from a working 2023 model: the documented hardware change is more RAM, not a new processor, storage tier, or connectivity platform.
  • Look elsewhere or verify first if your must-have device relies on a specific integration, feature, or cloud service. Protocol support alone does not establish full compatibility.

This is a specification-based buying assessment, not a hands-on review. No independent speed, reliability, or competitor comparison results are established here, so those outcomes should not be inferred from Homey’s product claims.
