Hogwarts Legacy’s Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest is now free for every owner of the game, on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch. The formerly PlayStation-exclusive mission sends you into a haunted Hogsmeade business, adds an extra dungeon and lets you claim a permanent shop in the village. It is spooky seasonal entertainment, but it is not a limited-time Halloween event.
What the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest includes
The quest centers on an investigation of a supposedly haunted shop in Hogsmeade. Its confined setting, supernatural mystery and dungeon give the mission a stronger horror flavor than an ordinary trip through the open-world countryside.
Completing the content also provides shopkeeper-themed rewards and the opportunity to become the owner of the Hogsmeade storefront. The shop is an in-game location you can keep using after the quest rather than a temporary Halloween decoration.

Although Halloween is the obvious time to play it, the quest does not disappear when the holiday ends. It arrived as part of the free Summer 2024 update and remains available as update content for people who own Hogwarts Legacy.

Is the Haunted Hogsmeade quest free?
Yes. The Summer 2024 update that added the quest was free to owners of Hogwarts Legacy. You do not buy the mission as a separately priced Halloween add-on.
That free-update wording applies to existing owners. If you do not own the base game, you still need to purchase an edition of Hogwarts Legacy for your platform. Store prices, discounts and stock can change by region and date, so check the current listing before buying.

Do you need the Deluxe Edition?
No separate Deluxe Edition purchase is required for the quest when you already own the game. Warner Bros.’ purchase information lists the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest as included with both Standard and Deluxe editions.
The important distinction is between edition ownership and update access: the update makes the quest available to game owners, while the edition you choose determines which base-game package you purchase. A Standard-edition owner should not need to upgrade solely to obtain this mission.

Which platforms have it?
The quest originally launched as PlayStation-exclusive content. The Summer 2024 rollout removed that restriction, making it available to players on all supported platforms.

Platform availability does not make the quest a separate cross-platform purchase. You need the game on the platform where you intend to play, and the relevant update must be installed.

How to get the haunted shop in Hogwarts Legacy
- Own the game on a supported platform. The quest is update content for Hogwarts Legacy, not a standalone game.
- Update the game. Install the Summer 2024 update through your platform’s normal game-update system. Without the update, the newer quest and rewards may not appear.
- Load your character and check Hogsmeade quest content. The mission is presented as the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest, with the haunted shop investigation as its central objective.
- Complete the investigation and additional dungeon. Finishing the quest is what unlocks its shopkeeper rewards and ownership of the Hogsmeade storefront.
The supplied official descriptions do not specify a universal level requirement, exact quest-marker location or a single required story milestone. If the mission is not visible, first confirm that the game has fully updated, then check the in-game quest log after loading your existing save.

Do not treat a listing’s Deluxe label as proof that the quest is exclusive to that edition. The quest is listed with Standard and Deluxe editions; the decisive requirement is owning the game and installing the update.

For anyone who already owns Hogwarts Legacy, the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest is an easy Halloween recommendation: it is free, permanently available, supports every platform after its PlayStation debut and combines a haunted mystery with a dungeon, themed cosmetics and a shop you can own.
