The Hitachi R-VX410PT9BSL is a 375 L top-mount-freezer refrigerator with a documented feature set, but the available public evidence does not establish how well it performs in independent testing or how reliably it holds up over time. Hitachi’s product sheet dates to March 2021, and CHOICE marks the model discontinued. If you are considering old stock or a used unit, check its condition, installation fit, local warranty and repair support before committing.
What is the Hitachi R-VX410PT9BSL?
It is a top-mount-freezer refrigerator in Hitachi’s R-VX410PT9 series. In Hitachi’s March 2021 product sheet, the BSL suffix denotes the Brilliant Silver finish. The sheet describes an inverter compressor, dual-fan cooling and a selectable zone, among other features. These are manufacturer specifications, not proof of independent performance.

How much does it hold, and will it fit?
Hitachi states a total capacity of 375 L: 250 L for the refrigerator and 125 L for the freezer. Its stated cabinet dimensions are 1,605 mm high × 650 mm wide × 720 mm deep; depth without the door is 614 mm. The brochure says ventilation space is required, so the cabinet measurements alone are not the full installation allowance.

CHOICE lists recommended installation dimensions of 166 cm high × 75 cm wide × 77 cm deep. Treat these as a practical clearance guide, not a substitute for the official installation instructions. Measure the opening and the route into the home, including doorways, turns and stairs, before arranging delivery.

Hitachi says its Triple Power Filter removes seven named odour components. The brochure also claims “99% sterilised after 24 hours” for bacteria trapped in the filter, citing testing by the Boken Quality Evaluation Institute using the JISZ2801 film adhesion method. Hitachi specifies that this result was achieved using the filter alone. It is not evidence that the refrigerator as a whole sterilises food or prevents foodborne illness.

How much energy does it use, and what warranty was stated?
Hitachi’s March 2021 brochure states annual energy consumption of 308 kWh. CHOICE repeats that figure and lists a four-star energy rating for its Australian entry. Actual electricity cost depends on the local tariff and usage; the published annual figure is not a bill estimate.
The same Hitachi brochure states five years of parts-and-labour warranty coverage and an additional five years of parts coverage for the inverter compressor. These are dated, market-specific manufacturer terms, not confirmation of coverage for a particular purchase today. Verify the applicable country, purchase date, warranty document and service arrangements with the seller or manufacturer.

What do independent tests say?
CHOICE identifies 2022 as its test year and marks the R-VX410PT9BSL discontinued. Its accessible listing shows an A$1,099 price, which is not a current-price quote. The expert rating, pros and cons, and detailed temperature, freshness, noise and running-cost results are behind its membership access. Those hidden results cannot support a positive or negative performance verdict here.

Should you buy one now?
It may suit someone seeking a 375 L top-freezer layout who can verify a specific unit and its service support. Because the model is listed as discontinued, judge any offer as old stock or a used appliance rather than assuming ordinary current retail availability.
- Confirm the full model code and Brilliant Silver finish; similarly named regional models may have different features.
- Inspect the appliance’s age, condition and included documentation, and get the seller’s return terms in writing.
- Measure installation clearance and the delivery path, allowing for ventilation.
- Ask whether local warranty coverage applies to that exact unit and whether an authorized repair service is available in your area.
- Do not assume the Triple Power Filter is a consumer-replaceable part or that a compatible replacement is currently available; the manual listing says maintenance should be performed at a workshop by well-trained maintenance personnel.
