A Simply Wall St screen published October 14, 2026, identifies Hitachi Construction Machinery (TSE:6305), CiDi Inc. (SEHK:3881) and EnerSys (NYSE:ENS) as three electric- and autonomous-vehicle-related stocks for further research. They represent different parts of the electrification chain: heavy equipment and autonomy, autonomous commercial vehicles, and stored-energy systems. The screen is a starting point for due diligence—not a complete investment recommendation—and its figures should be checked against the latest company filings before any decision.
What the October 2026 screen identifies
The screen was produced against a backdrop of 3.7% US inflation and a wider list containing 55 additional companies connected with electric or autonomous vehicles. Calling these businesses “EV stocks” requires context: none is simply a passenger-car manufacturer. Their potential electrification exposure comes from industrial vehicles, mining fleets, charging-related power needs, autonomous driving systems and energy storage.

1. Hitachi Construction Machinery: equipment plus fleet intelligence
What the company does
Hitachi Construction Machinery manufactures excavators, wheel loaders and mining trucks. Its technology offering extends beyond hardware to autonomous haulage and telematics, which can help operators monitor equipment, coordinate fleets and improve utilization. That combination gives investors exposure to electrification where construction and mining customers replace or supplement diesel equipment, while autonomy can improve the economics of operating large fleets.

The screen reports approximately ¥1.29 trillion in Construction Machinery Business revenue and ¥150 billion in Specialized Parts and Service revenue. Its reported market capitalization was ¥1.20 trillion. Parts and service activity can provide a recurring element alongside equipment sales, but the screen does not establish how much of either figure comes specifically from electric machines or autonomous systems.
Key execution questions
- How quickly customers adopt battery-electric or other lower-emission heavy equipment.
- Whether autonomous-haulage and telematics deployments expand beyond selected mining sites.
- How commodity cycles, construction spending and machine utilization affect orders.
- Whether service revenue offsets volatility in new-equipment demand.
2. CiDi: autonomy in controlled commercial environments
What the company does
CiDi develops autonomous mining and logistics trucks, intelligent-driving systems and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems for commercial vehicles in China. Mines, ports and logistics yards can be attractive early markets for autonomy because routes are repetitive, operating areas are controlled and fleet owners can supervise a defined group of vehicles.

Reported business scale
CiDi’s Auto Parts & Accessories line generated CN¥1.280 billion in the figure cited by the screen, while its reported market capitalization was HK$8.1 billion. The revenue line should not be treated as a measure of pure software or EV sales: it covers the stated auto-parts and accessories category, and the available data does not separate electric from conventional deployments.
Risk to monitor
The screening article states: “Whether the recent margin improvement can be sustained will require further reporting periods.” That caution matters for a technology supplier whose results can be affected by project timing, hardware mix, customer concentration and the pace of commercial deployment. Investors should look for recurring evidence of margins, delivered vehicles, contract conversion and cash generation rather than relying on one improved reporting period.

3. EnerSys: the stored-energy layer
What the company supplies
EnerSys provides stored-energy and integrated power systems for industrial customers. Its Industrial Mobility Solutions support electric forklifts and some commercial vehicles, placing the company upstream of many electrification projects: fleets need batteries, charging-related systems, replacement units and power-management equipment even when EnerSys is not the vehicle manufacturer.
Additional demand drivers
The screen reports about US$3.79 billion for a Segment Adjustment line and a US$6.43 billion market capitalization. It also points to growth in AI-driven data-center loads and concerns about grid reliability. Those factors can increase adoption of backup and energy-storage systems, add revenue and support earnings as more of the installed base reaches replacement cycles. This creates diversification beyond vehicle electrification, but it also means EnerSys is not a pure EV investment.

- Separate EV exposure from total business. Identify the revenue, gross margin and backlog directly tied to electric vehicles, autonomous systems or storage.
- Assess deployment evidence. Look for installed units, repeat customers, production capacity, software subscriptions and service renewals.
- Compare valuation with execution. Market capitalization alone does not show whether growth expectations are already priced in.
- Match risk to portfolio needs. Industrial cyclicality, Chinese-market exposure, technology adoption and replacement cycles create different risk profiles across the three names.
These companies therefore suit different research theses: Hitachi Construction Machinery for electrified heavy equipment and autonomy, CiDi for concentrated commercial-vehicle automation, and EnerSys for the batteries and power infrastructure that support industrial mobility and wider electrification. A current filing review is essential because the reported values can change with share prices, exchange rates and subsequent results.
