The 65-inch Hisense UR8S is a new 2026 RGB Mini-LED 4K television with a manufacturer-rated 180Hz panel, VRR and an automatic low-latency gaming pipeline. Hisense says its RGB Mini-LED backlight can cover up to 100% of the BT.2020 color space. However, no primary source currently verifies the advertised $900 discount, its sale price, the retailer or the promotion’s end date, so treat the deal headline as unconfirmed until a live authorized listing shows those details.

What the 2026 Hisense UR8S is

Hisense announced its 2026 RGB Mini-LED range, including the UR8S and UR9S, at FIFA Headquarters on April 16, 2026. The company positions the UR8 family as a more accessible way to get RGB Mini-LED technology, natural color and gaming features.

Hisense’s UK product listing identifies the 65UR8STUK as a 65-inch UR8S RGB Mini-LED Smart TV with 4K resolution. Model suffixes can differ by country, so a U.S. buyer should not assume that the UK model number, tuner, warranty or bundled accessories apply locally.

What 180Hz, VRR and RGB Mini-LED mean for gaming

180Hz panel

A 180Hz panel can refresh more often than a conventional 120Hz gaming television, provided the source, connection and game can deliver a compatible signal. The panel rating alone does not establish input lag, supported resolutions at every refresh rate or the number of inputs that accept the highest mode.

VRR and automatic low latency

VRR synchronizes the display’s refresh timing with a compatible game source to reduce visible tearing and uneven frame pacing. Hisense also advertises an automatic low-latency pipeline intended to switch the set into a faster gaming response path. The company has not published an independent millisecond input-lag result in the available material, so the 180Hz claim should not be treated as a measured latency ranking.

RGB Mini-LED color

RGB Mini-LED uses red, green and blue light sources in the backlight rather than relying only on a conventional white backlight filtered through color pixels. Hisense says the UR8S can reach up to 100% BT.2020 coverage, a wide-gamut claim that could benefit HDR color reproduction. “Up to” describes a maximum manufacturer target, not a guarantee that every unit or picture mode reaches that level.

Is the $900-off price real?

The exact promotion remains unverified. There is no confirmed original price, discounted price, retailer, start date or expiration date from a primary source. Without those figures, it is impossible to calculate the final cost or determine whether the headline refers to a temporary sale, a regional offer, a bundle or a price comparison against an earlier list price.

How to verify the deal before paying

  1. Open the retailer’s live product page and match the complete regional model suffix, not just “UR8” or “UR8S.”
  2. Check that the displayed list price, sale price and dollar difference are shown together at checkout.
  3. Look for the promotion’s end date, stock limits, delivery region and return terms.
  4. Confirm that the seller is authorized and that the warranty applies in your country.
  5. Save a screenshot or order confirmation showing the price, model and promised delivery date.

Tom’s Guide has reported that the UR8 is a Best Buy exclusive in the United States, but that retail arrangement and current stock still need to be checked against the active listing. A report of exclusivity is not proof that a particular $900 promotion is running.

What this means for PS5 and Xbox buyers

The confirmed VRR and low-latency features make the UR8S relevant to console gaming, and a 4K 180Hz panel gives it headroom beyond the refresh rate commonly used by current consoles. The evidence does not identify HDMI 2.1 support, port count, supported console resolutions, or measured latency, however. Before purchase, verify those items in the regional manual or specification sheet and make sure the console is connected to an input that supports the mode you intend to use.

  • Check the television’s gaming information panel after connecting the console to confirm the negotiated refresh rate and VRR status.
  • Enable VRR in the console’s display settings only after confirming that the selected input supports it.
  • Use the television’s designated game or low-latency mode if the regional software provides one.
  • Test HDR with an actual game rather than relying only on a streaming-app preview.

How the UR8 compares with other gaming TVs

The available official information establishes several attractive headline features, but it does not support a “best TV” ranking or a complete head-to-head comparison.

Comparison point UR8 evidence What remains unknown for a fair comparison
Refresh rate 180Hz manufacturer rating Whether competing models sustain their rated modes across all inputs
VRR Listed by Hisense VRR range, formats and console compatibility

Who should consider it

The UR8S is worth investigating if you want a 65-inch 4K television with a 180Hz panel, VRR and RGB Mini-LED color potential, and you are willing to confirm the local model and connections. It is not yet possible to call it one of the best gaming TVs on the evidence available: independent latency, brightness, viewing-angle and port testing is missing, and the claimed discount has not been substantiated.

Wait for a verified listing if the purchase depends on saving exactly $900. If the price is confirmed, compare the final delivered cost and warranty with televisions that publish complete HDMI, brightness and latency specifications rather than choosing on the refresh-rate number alone.
