Hexborne is a single-player dark fantasy roguelite RPG built around drawing one continuous path across a hex battlefield. Steam’s listing describes a free demo covering the full first chapter, including eight standard battles, eight elite battles and a boss fight. However, the listing also contains conflicting availability language, so check the live Steam page for an active download option before assuming the demo is currently available.
What is Hexborne?
Developed and published by BlowYAmind, Hexborne combines turn-based tactical combat with roguelite progression. Rather than selecting a single attack, you trace a route across a hex grid. The tiles your route crosses can provide attacks, armor, healing or gold, so each turn is a trade-off between dealing damage, staying alive and collecting resources. The game’s official Steam listing presents the demo as Chapter 1, “The Capital in Ashes.”
The available evidence does not independently confirm the “Korean” descriptor in the original headline, so it should not be treated as verified. A developer-presented Reddit post calls the project a turn-based roguelite, but that promotional post is not evidence of independent player reception.

The Steam listing accessed on October 13, 2026, shows a “Download Hexborne Demo” option. But the same listing says the game is not yet available on Steam, and a Steam page variant says “DEMO COMING — October 2026.” These storefront statements conflict; demo availability is time-sensitive. Open the official listing and confirm that the download control is active in your region before planning to play.

The listing names 2027 as the planned full-game release year, not a confirmed launch date. No price was shown in the captured listing, so a full-game price cannot be established from it.
What does the demo include?
Steam describes the demo as the whole first chapter rather than a short combat sample. Its contents are listing descriptions, not independently verified playthrough results.

Choose a route across the hexes
Each turn, draw one unbroken path over the battlefield. Sword tiles contribute attack, shield tiles provide armor, healing tiles restore health and coin tiles grant gold. Since a route can cross different tile types, the decision is not simply how to maximize damage: it is how much offense you can afford without neglecting defense, recovery or currency.

Use the path’s geometry to shape attacks
The route’s shape and how it meets enemies influence the resulting strike. The Steam description names plunging onto an enemy, charging in a straight line, circling for a spin, cutting through ranks and flanking. Knockback adds a positional layer: enemies can be sent into walls, other enemies, fire or spikes.
Read attacks and build a second action
Enemy attacks are telegraphed, with their damage shown in advance. You can use that information to choose where to stand and which threat to remove first. Sword strikes, collisions and kills fill the Hexborne gauge; when it is ready, activating it allows a second path in the same turn.

Plan for what happens between fights
The branching route between battles can include villages, events, campfires, bounties, relics, consumables and services such as a blacksmith, alchemy lab and inn. The game also describes persistent soul stones used for permanent upgrades between runs. Together, these systems make route choice and longer-term progression part of the tactical loop, not just the battle itself.
