The Helio G91 is the stronger chipset overall: its newer CPU cores and listed GPU outperform the Helio G37 in the benchmark results available. The G37 does have a higher maximum CPU clock—2.3 GHz versus 2.0 GHz—but clock speed alone does not determine how fast a processor feels. Both chips are 12 nm, octa-core 4G platforms, and neither supports 5G.
Helio G37 vs Helio G91 specifications
The main difference is the CPU architecture, not the number of cores: both processors have eight. MediaTek’s official Helio G91 specifications list its supported platform features; cross-chip and G37 details below are from NanoReview’s comparison and 91mobiles’ G37 specifications.
| Specification | Helio G91 | Helio G37 |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 2 × Cortex-A75 up to 2.0 GHz; 6 × Cortex-A55 at 1.8 GHz | 4 × Cortex-A53 up to 2.3 GHz; 4 × Cortex-A53 at 1.8 GHz |
| Cores and process | Octa-core; 12 nm | Octa-core; 12 nm |
| GPU | Arm Mali-G52 MC2, up to 1 GHz per MediaTek | PowerVR GE8320, listed at 680 MHz by independent specification pages |
| Memory | LPDDR4X; NanoReview lists up to 1,800 MHz. MediaTek lists support for up to 8 GB. | LPDDR4X at 1,600 MHz per NanoReview; up to 8 GB |
| Storage | eMMC 5.1 listed by MediaTek | eMMC 5.1 per NanoReview |
| Maximum listed display capability | Up to 2,520 × 1,080 at 90 Hz per MediaTek | Up to 2,400 × 1,080 per NanoReview |
| Camera and video capability | MediaTek lists support for 108 MP cameras; video encode up to 2K/30 or 1080p/60 | NanoReview lists up to 50 MP and 1080p/30 capture |
| Cellular | 4G; LTE Cat. 7 per NanoReview | 4G; LTE Cat. 7 per NanoReview |
| Listed release | June 2024 per 91mobiles | June 2020 per 91mobiles |
These are platform specifications, not a promise that every phone using the chip includes the maximum memory, display refresh rate, resolution, or camera capability. Phone makers choose the actual components and configurations. MediaTek’s G91 page lists eMMC 5.1; NanoReview also lists UFS 2.1, so UFS support should not be assumed from the available official specification.
Which chipset is faster?
The G91 is faster in the reported CPU and overall benchmark results, even though its top listed CPU frequency is lower. The G37 reaches 2.3 GHz on some cores, but all eight are older Cortex-A53 cores. The G91 pairs two Cortex-A75 performance cores with six newer Cortex-A55 cores. A core’s design affects how much work it can perform per clock cycle, so peak GHz by itself is not a reliable ranking.

Reported benchmark scores
The scores below come from different published comparison sets, not a controlled test of both chips in otherwise identical phones. Device configuration, cooling, software, and benchmark version can affect results.
| Source and test | Helio G91 | Helio G37 | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 91mobiles AnTuTu | 265,150 | 138,566 | 91mobiles describes these as the highest scores recorded by devices using each chipset. |
| 91mobiles Geekbench | 412 single-core; 1,448 multi-core | 203 single-core; 904 multi-core | Published device-test figures; not a paired, same-device comparison. |
| NanoReview AnTuTu 11 | 354,158 | 215,798 | The comparison lists 15 G91 tests and four G37 tests. |
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 | 405 single-core; 1,407 multi-core | 198 single-core; 868 multi-core | NanoReview reports fewer than three G91 CPU tests and five G37 tests. |
| NanoReview PCMark 3.0 | 9,091 | 5,552 | NanoReview reports three G91 phone models and six G37 phone models. |
The two sources’ AnTuTu figures differ because they reflect separate samples and test data; do not combine them into one score or treat either as a guaranteed result for a particular handset. The consistent direction across the listed comparisons favors the G91, but the figures do not establish a universal speed multiplier.

- Carrier: This phone is locked to Tracfone, which means this device can only be used on the Tracfone wireless network. Tracfone plan required, activating is easy, just 3 steps.
- DISPLAY: Immersive viewing on a 6.7-inch super-bright 120Hz display with powerful stereo speakers and Bass Boost for cinematic entertainment.
- CAMERA SYSTEM: Advanced 50MP Quad Pixel camera captures sharp, detailed photos and videos in any lighting condition
- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
Gaming and graphics: G91 has the advantage
On paper, the G91’s Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, listed by MediaTek at up to 1 GHz, is stronger than the G37’s PowerVR GE8320, listed at 680 MHz by independent specification pages. NanoReview’s GPU-related comparisons also favor the G91. The available samples are small, however, and GPU benchmark numbers do not establish a particular game’s frame rate.
Actual gaming depends on the phone’s cooling, power limits, memory configuration, software, screen resolution, and the game itself. There are no controlled, same-device tests here to establish sustained clocks, exact frame rates, or which chip lasts longer under gaming load.

4G, display, camera, and phone-level differences
Neither chip provides 5G
Both are 4G chipsets; NanoReview lists LTE Cat. 7 for each. A phone built around either one will not gain 5G connectivity from its processor.
G91 offers newer platform capabilities
MediaTek lists G91 support for displays up to 90 Hz and 2,520 × 1,080, plus 108 MP camera capability. Those are chip-platform limits, not guarantees that a G91 phone has a 90 Hz screen or a 108 MP camera. Camera sensors, image processing, software tuning, and handset design all affect the finished result. MediaTek describes the chip as supporting “smooth 90Hz displays” and “impressive 108MP cameras with in-sensor zoom”; that is the manufacturer’s product-page description, not an independent test result.

Which should you choose?
Choose a Helio G91 phone if performance is the priority
- You want the more capable of these two chipsets for general processing and graphics, based on the available specifications and benchmark comparisons.
- You are considering a phone that uses the G91’s newer platform features, while verifying that the specific handset actually includes the display, camera, and memory configuration you need.
A G37 phone may still suit basic use
- Your needs are modest and the complete phone is a better fit for your budget or preferred features.
- You have checked the handset’s RAM, storage, battery, software support, screen, cameras, and local network compatibility rather than judging it by processor name alone.
Compare complete phones, not just chipsets. The processor does not determine a phone’s price, battery endurance, software-update policy, camera quality, or exact network-band support. The cited benchmark results also do not establish how any particular G91 or G37 handset performs under identical conditions.

Verdict
The Helio G91 is the better overall chipset: it uses newer CPU cores, has the stronger listed GPU, and leads in the reported benchmark comparisons. The G37’s higher peak clock does not outweigh those advantages. Both remain 4G chips, and the experience you get depends on the specific phone built around them.
