The Helio G81 is the stronger-looking chipset overall: it pairs newer Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, while the Helio G37 uses Cortex-A53 cores and a PowerVR GE8320. Published benchmark databases also favor the G81, but their scores vary by source and benchmark version. Neither those scores nor the specifications guarantee how two actual phones will perform.
What is the difference between Helio G37 and G81?
The main difference is the hardware architecture. The G81 combines two Cortex-A75 performance cores with six Cortex-A55 cores; the G37 is listed with eight Cortex-A53 cores split into two clock-speed groups. The G81 also uses a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, compared with the G37’s PowerVR GE8320.
MediaTek identifies both chips in its 4G Helio family. Its official G81 product page gives the A55 cores a maximum of 1.8GHz in the introductory copy but 1.7GHz in the specifications table. Because the page conflicts with itself, neither figure should be treated as an unqualified, definitive maximum. MediaTek Helio G81 specifications

The G81 CPU and official platform figures are from MediaTek. The G37 listings and NanoReview process figures are from CPUBoss, NanoReview’s G37 page, and NanoReview’s G81 page. These are supported platform capabilities, not promises about the components or settings a phone manufacturer will use.
Which chip is faster in benchmarks?
NanoReview’s database lists higher G81 results in Geekbench 6 and AnTuTu 11. CPUBoss lists different Geekbench 6 figures and an AnTuTu 10 result for the G37, but its captured comparison does not show a corresponding G81 AnTuTu 10 total. Keep each source and benchmark version separate; these database scores are not controlled, same-phone head-to-head results.

What do the specifications mean for gaming and everyday use?
CPU and general responsiveness
The G81’s Cortex-A75 performance cores and Cortex-A55 efficiency cores give it a more capable-looking CPU arrangement than the G37’s all-Cortex-A53 design. This supports the overall conclusion that the G81 is the better-equipped platform, but the available evidence does not establish a specific app-opening, multitasking, or sustained-performance advantage in matched phones.

Graphics and gaming
The G81’s Mali-G52 MC2 is the stronger graphics specification on the available comparison evidence. No controlled game tests on comparable G37 and G81 phones are provided, however. Game performance also depends on the phone’s GPU implementation, cooling, memory, software, screen resolution, and the game itself.
Battery life
There is no comparable battery test for the two chips in the available evidence, so a battery-life winner cannot be named from these specifications or benchmark scores. A phone’s battery capacity, display, software, and workload all affect runtime.

Which Helio chip should you choose in a phone?
If two phones are otherwise similar in price, memory, storage, display, cooling, battery, and software, the G81’s CPU and GPU specifications make it the more promising choice. But chipset names alone are not enough to choose between actual devices. Compare the specific models and their configurations, and look for credible testing of those phones if gaming, sustained performance, or battery life is important to you.
