HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF began exchange trading on Friday, October 16, 2026. The BSE listing notice records the ticker HFTSEINDIA, BSE scrip code 544988, ISIN INF179KC1LA2, a one-unit market lot and an issue price of Rs. 30.34 per unit. The scheme is designed to track the FTSE India Equity Index (TRI), and HDFC labels it Very High risk.

When did HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF start trading?

BSE’s October 15, 2026 notice says units were listed and admitted to dealings from Friday, October 16, 2026, in the B group. The notice covers 22,503,202 units. The fund’s scheme documents allow continuous exchange buying and redemption on the NSE and BSE where the ETF is listed, so investors should confirm the available venue in their broker’s order screen.

The title “listed on NSE” needs a qualification: the recorded commencement notice is from BSE, while the scheme is intended to trade on NSE/BSE venues where listed. The NSE MF Invest circular dated September 22, 2026 recorded the allotment date as October 12, 2026 and the same ISIN.

What index does the ETF track?

HDFC Mutual Fund describes the scheme as an open-ended ETF that seeks returns commensurate, before fees and expenses, with the FTSE India Equity Index (TRI) over the long term. The objective is subject to tracking error, and HDFC states that there is no assurance the objective will be achieved.

HDFC’s product description says the portfolio provides approximately 90% market-cap coverage of the FTSE India All Cap Index, with diversification across stocks and sectors. That coverage statement describes the breadth of the underlying market exposure; it does not remove equity-market risk or guarantee performance relative to the index.

How to buy HFTSEINDIA

  1. Use a broker that offers exchange-traded securities and search the trading screen for HFTSEINDIA. If more than one result appears, verify the ISIN INF179KC1LA2 and, where shown, BSE code 544988.
  2. Choose the exchange on which your broker shows the listing and review the live bid and ask before submitting an order.
  3. Enter the number of units. The exchange market lot is one unit, so an order can start at a single unit.
  4. Select an order type and price appropriate to your circumstances. A limit order lets you specify the maximum purchase price; a market order accepts the best available prices displayed by the exchange.
  5. Review the estimated value, brokerage and statutory charges shown by your broker, then place the order and check its status in the order book.

Exchange investors buy and sell units with other market participants. Market makers and large investors have a separate route: the SID permits direct subscription or redemption with the fund in creation-unit size at NAV-based prices. The creation-unit process is not the ordinary one-unit exchange order used by most retail investors.

How risky is HDFC FTSE India Equity ETF?

HDFC labels the scheme Very High risk. It is an equity ETF, so its value can fall when Indian shares or the securities represented by its benchmark decline. The fund’s stated objective is also exposed to tracking error—the difference between the ETF’s results and the FTSE India Equity Index (TRI) after fees, expenses and portfolio implementation effects.

  • Market risk: the exchange price and NAV can fluctuate, potentially substantially.
  • Tracking risk: returns may not exactly match the benchmark.
  • Trading risk: the market price can differ from NAV, particularly when liquidity is limited or spreads widen.
  • No guaranteed outcome: HDFC does not assure that the investment objective will be achieved.

Before comparing this ETF with another India-equity ETF, check the benchmark methodology, market-cap coverage, total expense ratio, historical tracking difference or error, trading volume and spreads, creation-unit arrangements and each scheme’s risk label. Current TER, NAV and realized tracking performance are not stated in the listing details; use the latest HDFC factsheet and exchange data for those figures.

What investors should verify before placing an order

  • Confirm that the broker’s result is the ETF, not a similarly named security.
  • Match the displayed ISIN to INF179KC1LA2.
  • Check the live quote against the latest published NAV and observe the bid-ask spread.
  • Read the current scheme documents and factsheet for expenses, portfolio information and tracking data.
  • Ensure the Very High risk classification fits your time horizon and ability to absorb losses.
