Where HCLTech shares trade

HCLTech’s investor FAQ states that its equity shares are listed and traded on the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited. The two identifiers are useful because an exchange search normally requires either a symbol or a scrip code, and similarly named securities can otherwise produce confusing results.

Checking the correct security

  1. Open the official NSE or BSE market-data service, or the regulated intermediary where you maintain your trading and demat accounts.
  2. On NSE, search for HCLTECH. On BSE, search for scrip code 532281.
  3. Confirm that the result identifies HCL Technologies Limited and the equity security, not a derivative contract, a mutual-fund product or an unrelated instrument.
  4. Check the exchange’s trading-status, quote-time and corporate-action fields before relying on a displayed price or event.

The records used for this guide do not provide a live price, price target or view on whether the stock will rise or fall. Those figures change during market hours and should be obtained from the exchange or your intermediary at the time you need them.

What dividend was documented for 2026?

NSE’s corporate-actions listing records August 12, 2026 as the record date for HCLTech’s 2026 final dividend. The linked HCLTech filing dated August 24, 2026 states a dividend of ₹35 per equity share of ₹1 face value for FY 2025–26. That total includes a ₹10 one-time special dividend.

How to read the record date

The record date is the date used to determine which holders are entitled under the company’s published terms and the applicable settlement framework. Buying or selling around a record date can involve exchange-settlement and ex-dividend rules, so do not assume that an order placed on the record date itself creates entitlement. Check the exchange notice and your intermediary’s corporate-action calendar for the relevant ex-date, settlement cut-off and account-credit timing.

Why the ₹10 special component matters

The ₹35 figure should not automatically be treated as HCLTech’s normal annual dividend or as a prediction for the next financial year. ₹25 is the non-special portion implied by the filing’s ₹35 total and ₹10 special component, while the special payment is expressly described as one-time. Future distributions require a new board decision, shareholder approval where applicable, and a new company and exchange notice.

Confirming whether money reached your account

  • Review the corporate-action entry in your broker or depository statement.
  • Compare the number of eligible shares on the record date with the dividend calculation shown by the intermediary.
  • Check the bank account linked for dividend payments and look for a separate credit narration.
  • If the payment is missing, collect the dividend year, folio or demat details, bank information and any warrant or advice before contacting HCLTech or its registrar and transfer agent (RTA).

Did HCLTech split its shares?

Yes. HCLTech’s financial statement records a one-for-one split effective March 20, 2015. In practical terms, one eligible share became two shares, and the face value per share was reduced proportionately. A split changes the number of units and the per-share face-value terms; by itself, it does not create additional economic value for the holder or for the company.

Rank #2

Worked example of the 2015 split

Suppose an eligible holder had 100 shares immediately before the action. A one-for-one split would result in 200 shares after the adjustment. The aggregate face-value amount is intended to remain equivalent, while the face value attached to each individual share is halved. Market price charts and per-share financial figures may also be restated so that historical comparisons are meaningful.

Earlier split events

HCL Technologies Limited’s 2000–01 annual report describes two older face-value changes. In 1999, shares with a ₹10 face value were split to ₹4, equivalent to 2.5 shares for each former share. In 2000, the ₹4 face value was split to ₹2, equivalent to two shares for each share then held. These events are separate from the March 2015 one-for-one action.

How to interpret a 2016 NSE entry

NSE’s corporate-actions page also labels a December 2016 record-date entry “Record Date for Split of Shares.” The records described here do not reconcile that label with the HCLTech financial statement that identifies the 2015 split, and they do not establish a separate 2016 ratio. Treat the label as an item requiring inspection of its attached exchange notice rather than as proof of another confirmed split.

Why old share counts can look different

HCLTech’s financial statements note that share-count references were retroactively restated for the 2015 split unless otherwise stated. As a result, an annual report, a historical chart and a current demat statement can show different-looking per-share figures while still describing the same economic holding. For a dispute, compare the actual credit entries in the demat account with the company’s corporate-action notice and your RTA statement.

How to buy, sell or hold HCLTech shares

Trading requires a securities account with a regulated intermediary and a demat account for electronic delivery. The exact screens, charges and order types depend on the intermediary, so verify current terms before placing an order.

  1. Complete the intermediary’s account-opening and identity checks, including the bank account used for settlement.
  2. Ensure the demat account is active and linked to the trading account. Resolve any freeze, KYC or nomination issue before attempting a transaction.
  3. Search the correct exchange identifier: HCLTECH on NSE or 532281 on BSE.
  4. Choose the exchange, quantity and order type. A market order prioritizes execution at available prices; a limit order sets the maximum purchase or minimum sale price you will accept, but may not execute.
  5. Review the preview for quantity, estimated value, applicable brokerage, exchange fees, taxes and settlement information, then authorize the order.
  6. After execution, retain the contract note and verify the resulting shares or cash in the post-settlement statement.

Do not confuse an exchange-traded equity order with a futures or options position. Derivatives have different expiry, margin and risk mechanics and are not evidence of ownership of the underlying shares.

Updating KYC, bank and nomination details

Dematerialised holdings

HCLTech’s FAQ directs dematerialised shareholders to their depository participant (DP) for account-record updates. That is normally the bank or intermediary through which the demat account is maintained, rather than the company’s investor-relations desk.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Ask the DP which current process applies to the change: PAN, bank account, signature, mobile number, email, address or nomination.
  2. Submit the requested identity and account documents through the DP’s approved channel.
  3. Obtain an acknowledgement or service request number.
  4. Check a later holding or transaction statement to confirm that the change is reflected before the next dividend or other corporate action.

Physical share certificates

For physical folios, the company FAQ refers to prescribed forms for KYC, signature and nomination updates to be lodged with the RTA. Use the latest forms and delivery instructions supplied by HCLTech or its RTA. Keep copies of the signed forms, identity documents, cancelled cheque or other bank proof, and the dispatch or acknowledgement record.

Certain physical-folio details must be updated for electronic dividend payment under the rules cited by the company. An incomplete signature, mismatched name or outdated bank proof can delay validation, so resolve those discrepancies with the RTA rather than sending repeated copies to unrelated addresses.

Finding and claiming an unpaid dividend

Dividend still with the company or RTA

If a warrant was lost, expired or never credited, HCLTech says to contact the company or its RTA with the relevant dividend details and updated bank information. Include the dividend year, folio or demat account reference, holder name, current address, PAN where requested, and a bank proof that matches the registered holder. After verification, an unpaid amount may be credited to the updated bank account.

Dividend or shares transferred to IEPF

If the unpaid dividend or the related shares have already been transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF), the company directs claimants to the IEPF Authority process. The claim is made through the prescribed IEPF-5 procedure, followed by submission of the required documents and any company or RTA verification. Requirements can differ according to whether the claim concerns shares, dividends or both, so use the current company FAQ and IEPF instructions rather than an old checklist.

Documents to assemble before contacting anyone

  • Folio number or demat account and client-ID details.
  • Dividend year, amount if known, and any warrant, advice or bank-return reference.
  • Proof of identity and PAN in the holder’s registered name.
  • Current bank proof and contact details.
  • Transmission, succession or authority documents if the original holder is deceased or the claimant is acting for another person.

Dividend tax withholding: what the published notice does and does not tell you

HCLTech’s investor resources include a tax-withholding notice for tax year 2026–27. The instructions vary according to factors such as resident or non-resident status, PAN availability and supporting documentation. A withholding rate shown in that notice is not blanket personal tax advice and does not determine your final tax liability.

Read the current notice applicable to the relevant dividend, submit any declaration or certificate by the stated deadline, and retain the tax-credit documentation. For the treatment of the dividend in your return, use a qualified tax adviser or the applicable tax authority guidance for your residence and circumstances.

Checks to perform before relying on a corporate-action message

  • Match the company name and security identifier on the notice with your holding.
  • Confirm whether the document concerns an interim dividend, final dividend, bonus, split, buyback or another action.
  • Record the announcement date, record date, ex-date and payment or credit timetable separately.
  • Check whether an amount is ordinary, special, one-time, gross or net of withholding.
  • Use the latest NSE/BSE filing and HCLTech investor communication if an older article conflicts with a newer notice.
  • Never infer an upcoming dividend, split or price direction from a past action.

What is not established by these records

The documented actions above do not establish a future dividend, another split, a target share price, expected return or suitability for any individual investor. They also do not determine an individual’s tax outcome. Any later corporate action must be checked against a new HCLTech announcement and the corresponding NSE or BSE filing. Exchange availability, quote timing, intermediary fees and account procedures can change, so verify those details when you trade or submit a claim.
