Hasbro’s October 8, 2026 employee notice affects 587 workers in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Their final scheduled workday there is December 24, 2026. Employees who accept the transfer are scheduled to begin at Hasbro’s new Boston Seaport office at 400 Summer Street on January 4, 2027; those who decline will lose their Hasbro jobs effective December 24.
What the notice means for the 587 Pawtucket employees
The notice applies to 587 employees assigned to Hasbro’s Pawtucket operation. It does not say that every Hasbro employee in Rhode Island faces the same immediate deadline, but it establishes the job consequence for the covered group: transfer to Boston or separation from the company.
Employees who accept the transfer
Workers who agree to move with their roles are scheduled to finish in Pawtucket on December 24, 2026, and report to 400 Summer Street in Boston on January 4, 2027. The Boston site is in the Seaport district.
Employees who decline
Hasbro’s filing treats a refusal of the Boston transfer as a job loss effective December 24, 2026. The company described the WARN filing as a formality tied to its previously announced relocation rather than as a newly announced shutdown.

When employees must decide
The public reports on the notice do not identify a separate individual acceptance deadline. They do establish the two operative dates: December 24 is the final Pawtucket workday, and January 4 is the planned Boston start date for people accepting the transfer. Employees should seek the precise response procedure and any individual terms directly from Hasbro’s human-resources communications.
Why Hasbro is moving its headquarters operation
Hasbro announced the relocation on September 8, 2025. The company plans to consolidate its toys, board games, licensing and most corporate services in Boston. At least 700 full-time employees were expected to transition to the Boston operation by the end of 2026.

What the relocation changes for workers
A longer commute or a move
For Pawtucket employees, the choice is not simply between two offices. A Boston assignment can require a substantially different daily commute or a household move across the Rhode Island–Massachusetts border. The notice makes that geographic change a condition of keeping the covered jobs.
Terms that have not been publicly quantified
Published accounts do not specify relocation assistance, commuting-cost payments, severance terms or tax effects. They also do not report how many of the 587 employees have accepted the transfer. Those details should not be assumed from the WARN notice.

What happens to the Pawtucket headquarters
Hasbro plans to sell its Pawtucket headquarters after the transition. The property includes a 343,000-square-foot main building and an adjacent 23,000-square-foot building. The sale would end the company’s use of the complex as its principal headquarters workplace, although Hasbro has said it intends to maintain some Rhode Island connections.

The headquarters has been a major local employer and a longstanding part of Pawtucket’s economic identity. Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien said, “Hasbro has an obligation to engage with the community that has supported it for generations.” The concerns include the loss of headquarters jobs, the effect on nearby businesses and the future use of a large corporate property.

The scale of the change
At the time of the reporting, Hasbro had about 1,000 employees in Rhode Island and approximately 4,500 employees worldwide. The 587-person notice therefore represents a large share of the Pawtucket workforce covered by the relocation, even though the eventual number leaving Hasbro is not yet known.

| Date | Event | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| September 8, 2025 | Hasbro announces the relocation | Boston is selected for toys, games, licensing and most corporate services. |
| October 8, 2026 | Employee notice and WARN filing reported | The filing covers 587 Pawtucket employees and gives more than the federal 60-day WARN notice threshold before the scheduled end date. |
| December 24, 2026 | Final scheduled day in Pawtucket | Employees who do not accept the Boston transfer are scheduled to lose their jobs on this date. |
| January 4, 2027 | Planned Boston start | Employees accepting the transfer are scheduled to begin at 400 Summer Street. |
What remains uncertain
The reports establish the dates and the job consequence, but several practical questions remain unresolved publicly:
- How many of the 587 employees will accept the Boston assignment.
- Whether Hasbro will provide individual relocation or commuting assistance, and on what terms.
- What severance arrangements, if any, apply to employees who decline.
- When the Pawtucket buildings will be listed and how the property will be reused.
The absence of an acceptance count means the final number of Hasbro departures from Rhode Island cannot yet be calculated.
Hasbro’s continuing Rhode Island commitments
Hasbro has said it will continue annual support for Hasbro Children’s Hospital and continue recruiting from Rhode Island colleges. Those commitments preserve some of the company’s state ties, but they do not replace the headquarters jobs and daily economic activity associated with the Pawtucket campus.
Bottom line for affected employees
For the 587 workers named in the October 8 notice, the reported choice is clear: accept a Boston assignment beginning January 4, 2027, or lose the Hasbro job on December 24, 2026. The broader economic impact will depend on how many accept, what support Hasbro offers and what ultimately happens to the Pawtucket property.
