Possibly—if you mean Project Reclaimer, a community-built PC launcher that reportedly expands Halo 3 multiplayer with up to 128 players, extensive mod support, dedicated servers and more. Those features make it an ambitious way to revisit Halo 3, but “best since Bungie” is a subjective verdict, not a ranking established by the available reporting. Project Reclaimer is also separate from Halo Infinite’s official Forge ecosystem.
What is Project Reclaimer?
Windows Central reported on October 8, 2026 that Project Reclaimer is a PC-specific launcher for Halo 3. It runs the game from an existing Halo: The Master Chief Collection installation; it is not a standalone Halo release. The report describes a community project that adds multiplayer features and access to community servers. These are reported capabilities, not results of an independent test.
According to the report, matches can support up to 128 players, including 64-versus-64, while campaign co-op can support up to 16 players. The project is also reported to support mods, player-customized Spartans and Elites, and four-player split-screen that can join community servers online.

Windows Central also reports a restored original menu, a server browser, dedicated servers that can run on Windows or Linux, playlists with map and mode voting, and automatic mod downloads when joining a server. Taken together, these features target players looking for large community-hosted matches and a more customizable Halo 3 experience.

How do you play Halo 3 with 128 players?
The reported route is to use Project Reclaimer on PC with an existing Halo: The Master Chief Collection installation that includes Halo 3. The publication does not describe it as a product for Xbox, nor does it establish that the launcher can run without the underlying game.
- Use a PC. Windows Central describes Project Reclaimer as PC-specific.
- Have Halo: The Master Chief Collection installed. The report says the launcher runs Halo 3 from an existing installation, so this is a prerequisite rather than an optional add-on.
- Join a community server. The reported server browser and automatic mod downloads are intended to help players find and join modded matches. Current availability and setup details may change; consult the project’s current instructions before installing or joining.
The 128-player figure is the ceiling reported by Windows Central, not a guarantee that every server or match supports that many players. The report likewise describes campaign co-op for up to 16 players; it does not establish that every campaign mission, server, or setup will work identically.

Is Project Reclaimer available on Xbox?
The cited coverage identifies Project Reclaimer as PC-specific and says it depends on a Halo: The Master Chief Collection installation. It does not report Xbox availability. Do not assume the launcher’s features—including large lobbies, mods, or community-server browsing—are available on console.
How this differs from Halo Infinite Forge
Forge is Halo Infinite’s official in-game creation route, not another name for Project Reclaimer. Forge creators build maps and modes within Halo Infinite; Project Reclaimer, as reported, uses Halo 3 from a PC installation of The Master Chief Collection and adds a community launcher and server experience.

Halo Support’s Forge overview describes Community File Share sections for recommended files and popular maps, modes, and prefabs. It also says several Forge maps had reached matchmaking as of April 22, 2025. That does not mean every community creation is in matchmaking or that a particular map remains in rotation.
What community-made Halo Infinite content shows
Halo Waypoint’s February 3, 2026 feature illustrates how varied Forge projects can be. Emeraldine reworks an unused Grotto multiplayer-map concept; Skisma’s Halo Royale is a battle-royale-style Forge creation developed over multiple years; and Halo Heroes is a class-based team mode with tailored loadouts and objectives. These examples show the range of community ideas, not a standardized measure of quality.

Halo Support’s Fall Update 2025 notes also document community-made Forge maps Ecotone, Lattice, and Serenity entering specified matchmaking playlists. The notes identify their creators and playlist placements; Serenity is based on Halo 2’s Sanctuary. Playlist rotations can change, so those release notes record what was added at that time rather than guaranteeing present-day availability.

Project Reclaimer is not the only community effort connected to Halo multiplayer. The Advanced Multiplayer Collective’s Halo Advanced Multiplayer Project works in ElDewrito to recreate multiplayer modes from other Halo games while adding content. Its GitHub page lists Reach Advanced MP and ODST Advanced MP as complete apart from minor updates and bug fixes; other projects on the page are in progress or not in production. This is a separate effort, and the available information does not establish it as the subject of the “best multiplayer since Bungie” claim.

Does “best since Bungie” hold up?
It depends on what a player values. Project Reclaimer’s reported high player counts, mod support, server browser, dedicated servers, and expanded co-op make a strong case for ambition and community flexibility. Forge offers a different strength: an official creation ecosystem in Halo Infinite, with some creator-made maps making it into matchmaking.
The available coverage and official Halo materials document features and examples, but they do not provide a consistent, measured comparison against every post-Bungie Halo multiplayer release. “Best” therefore remains an opinion. A player who prizes large modded Halo 3 battles may find Project Reclaimer especially compelling; someone who wants official matchmaking access to creator-made content may prefer Forge.
