HARTING says it has joined the NVIDIA MGX ecosystem as a power system component provider for the Vera Rubin NVL72 platform. Its announcement names two power-whip assemblies: one rated 100A/480VAC for a 3RU 110kW power shelf, and another rated 157A/800 VDC for a DC-DC connection to the compute rack. The specifications are HARTING’s published claims, not independently validated test results.

What HARTING announced

In an announcement published October 12, 2026, HARTING Technology Group said it had joined the NVIDIA MGX ecosystem as a power system component provider for NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin NVL72 platform. HARTING describes its power-whip solutions as assemblies that distribute power from the building to each rack, spanning an existing 480 VAC approach and a next-generation 800 VDC approach. The announcement identifies two assemblies and assigns each a distinct role:

Assembly HARTING-stated rating Stated role
480 VAC power whip 100A/480VAC For a 3RU 110kW power shelf
800 VDC DC-DC power whip 157A/800 VDC Connects power infrastructure to the compute rack

These are specifications published by HARTING in its October 2026 announcement. It does not provide independent efficiency, reliability, or safety test results, nor does it establish that the assemblies fit racks outside the stated platform context.

What a power whip does

A power whip is a cable assembly that carries power from building infrastructure to a rack. In HARTING’s description, the two named assemblies correspond to different points in a high-density AI rack power arrangement: the 480 VAC whip is associated with the power shelf, while the 800 VDC DC-DC whip is described for the compute-rack connection.

The announcement does not specify installation procedures, connector details, cable lengths, protection requirements, certification status, or service-life data. Those details should be confirmed with HARTING and the relevant system integrator before procurement or deployment.

How the announcement fits NVIDIA MGX and 800 VDC

NVIDIA describes MGX as an open, modular reference architecture for OEMs, ODMs, and ecosystem partners building systems from single-node servers through rack-scale AI factories. Its platform overview frames megawatt-scale racks and an 800 VDC power-delivery architecture with integrated, multi-time-scale energy storage as future AI factory infrastructure. That framing is a direction for future high-power-density infrastructure, not evidence that 800 VDC is already a universal standard or that the HARTING assembly is deployed across AI factories. HARTING’s announcement positions its products across a transition from 480 VAC toward 800 VDC; neither source supplies a comparative engineering assessment or independently measured performance.

What is established—and what is not

  • Established by HARTING: its stated MGX ecosystem role, Vera Rubin NVL72 platform context, the two assemblies, and their published ratings and intended roles.
  • Established by NVIDIA: MGX’s modular reference-architecture purpose and NVIDIA’s future-oriented framing of 800 VDC and megawatt-scale AI factory racks.
  • Not established in these sources: independent validation, efficiency gains, safety certification, reliability results, cost, availability for purchase, installation requirements, or compatibility beyond the named context.

HARTING CEO Philip Harting said the company has engineering expertise to help enable AI infrastructure change. CTO Christian Gysin called the move from 480 VAC toward 800 VDC a significant step. These are company executives’ explanations of HARTING’s rationale, not independent industry findings. Philip Harting statement · Christian Gysin statement

Where the assemblies were scheduled to appear

HARTING said it would be featured on the NVIDIA AI Factory MGX Ecosystem wall at OCP Global Summit 2026, with the assemblies planned for display at HARTING booth C79. This was a planned event appearance in the October 12 announcement. HARTING event details
