Your first session: a simple learning plan
- Choose one side for the first few matches. Start with Heroes if you prefer visible team goals, or Michael if stealth and observation appeal to you. Switching every match makes it harder to identify which actions caused a success or failure.
- State your objective aloud before the match starts. As a Hero, say “find, warn, escape, police.” As Michael, say “observe, stalk, threaten, disappear.” This keeps the first session focused on the published role descriptions.
- Use the first match to learn information flow. Notice where residents are, how the neighborhood is laid out, what alerts look or sound like, and how quickly other characters react to danger. Do not judge a strategy from one chaotic round.
- After the match, change one behavior. For example, spend the next Hero round contacting police earlier, or spend the next Michael round waiting longer before approaching a target. Changing one variable makes the result easier to interpret.

A recommendation based on that wording is to avoid spending your opening minutes on aimless exploration or a solo chase for Michael.
Warn before you overcommit
When you find a resident, treat warning them as a priority action. Keep enough awareness to notice whether Michael is nearby; a rescue attempt that leaves the Hero isolated can create another target. The game description does not establish the safest formation, timing window or button sequence, so use early matches to learn how much distance and time your character needs to complete an interaction.

The official listing says that contacting police and convincing townsfolk build increasingly powerful and thorough neighborhood patrols. That makes police contact a strategic objective rather than flavor text. A reasonable first-session plan is to look for opportunities to contact police once you have enough awareness to avoid walking into an obvious ambush, then help additional townsfolk so patrol coverage improves.

The exact order is not confirmed by the listing. If contacting police exposes your position, compare an early attempt with a later attempt in separate matches rather than assuming one universal route.
Convince townsfolk instead of treating them as scenery
Residents are part of the Hero plan. The description connects convincing townsfolk with stronger patrols, so speak to or assist them whenever the situation is reasonably safe. Track which residents have been warned and which still need help. In a group, tell teammates which people are already covered; duplicated effort can leave another area unprotected.
Use ordinary objects and NPC commands deliberately
Heroes can arm themselves with everyday household items and weapons. They can also command and equip non-player characters. These options mean you are not limited to a single character carrying the whole defense. A practical recommendation is to treat equipment and commands as tools for creating time and space for escapes, not as proof that every encounter should become a direct fight.

- Equip an item when it improves your ability to protect a resident or withdraw safely.
- Give an NPC a useful role when doing so supports a warning, escape or patrol objective.
- Avoid assuming that a particular household item, weapon or NPC loadout is best; no optimal ranking is established in the published material.
- Communicate equipment and assignments so two Heroes do not waste the same resource on one location.
Stay useful when Michael is not visible
Not seeing Michael does not mean nothing is happening. Continue locating residents, warning them, convincing townsfolk and working toward police patrols. A Hero who abandons objectives to search every shadow can give the opposing player time to pressure residents elsewhere.

Separate pressure from pursuit
Michael can influence a match without constantly chasing the nearest person. If a resident’s reaction draws Heroes or authorities toward you, disappearing and re-evaluating may preserve your advantage. After each round, identify the first moment your presence became obvious. Was a resident threatened before you had an exit, or did you approach a location where Heroes were already coordinating? - Status: say whether a resident is unwarned, warned, escaping or under threat.
- Action: request police contact, an escort, an item or an NPC assignment.
- Risk: report a sighting, a possible ambush or a route that is no longer safe.
Assign broad responsibilities rather than rigid permanent roles: one player can search, another can work with residents, and another can watch likely approach routes. Reassign when the situation changes. The game does not publish a required team composition, so use these assignments as communication aids, not fixed classes.
