Stream Train is now available on Steam. Half Past Yellow’s storefront listing shows an October 16, 2026 release date for its first-person co-op horror adventure, while the studio’s July announcement had previously promised October 15. The game sends up to six players on a dangerous railway journey where livestream audience reactions, stunts and donations directly shape each run.
When did Stream Train release?
The current Steam store listing records Stream Train as released on October 16, 2026. That date supersedes the earlier public target in Half Past Yellow’s July 16 announcement, which said the game would launch on October 15, 2026. The one-day difference appears to be a change between the announcement and the live storefront date.
Stream Train is a digital PC release sold through Steam. The listing identifies Half Past Yellow as both developer and publisher. No verified title-specific physical Amazon edition is established, so buyers should use the official Steam purchase page rather than assume a boxed version exists.
What is Stream Train about?
Stream Train combines first-person exploration, supernatural horror and dark comedy with the pressure of running a live channel. The crew leaves a visitor centre aboard a train, investigates abandoned places along the railway and searches for cryptids, ghosts and other strange creatures. Every expedition has a practical deadline: get back to the train before the danger overwhelms the group.

The audience is an active part of the game rather than background decoration. Viewers react to what the crew films and ask for riskier dares, investigations, pranks and stunts. Keeping the stream entertaining generates chatter and donations; those donations are converted into fuel and equipment that allow the train to continue toward the next station.
How a run works
Explore and record
Players leave the train to visit abandoned locations and investigate unusual activity. Filming creatures and other events is central to satisfying the online audience, but recording usually means getting close enough to become a target.
Respond to the audience
Audience requests push the crew toward escalating risks. A team can choose safer footage or accept a dangerous challenge for the possibility of stronger reactions and more donations. The tension comes from balancing a compelling broadcast against the need to return alive.

Fund the next stop
Donations pay for fuel and gear. Successful runs therefore support future travel, while poor decisions can leave the crew short of resources. The train is not only a setting; its controls and supplies are part of the progression loop.
Return before the threat wins
Exploration ends when the team makes it back to the train or can no longer manage the danger. The game supports both solo play and online co-op, so the same loop can be approached alone or with a coordinated crew.
Why the game should be replayable
Steam describes Stream Train as a procedural, run-based journey. Points of interest, creatures, items and encounters are reshuffled along the railway between runs. That randomization means a familiar route can produce different objectives, threats and resource problems on the next attempt.

The store description also lists train controls, character customization and physics-driven action. Those systems complement the changing locations: players are not simply repeating a fixed haunted-house sequence, but managing a moving vehicle and improvising around unpredictable encounters.

Online co-op supports up to six players. A smaller group can still play, and Steam lists a single-player option. The six-player limit is the headline capacity; the listing does not establish whether every activity scales identically with group size, so prospective teams should not assume that a full lobby and a solo run have the same difficulty.
Steam features include achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. The available interface languages listed on the current page are English, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Turkish. Language support and other features can change with updates.

Does Stream Train use AI-generated content?
Yes. Steam’s disclosure says the developers used AI to generate additional chat-message ideas from an initial list they created themselves. Half Past Yellow says relevant ideas were added to the game, some were edited to fit, and the rest were discarded. This disclosure concerns audience chat messages; it does not establish that the game’s creatures, environments or core systems were AI-generated.

Development and playtest background
Half Past Yellow describes itself as an independent Copenhagen, Denmark studio founded by friends who met through game jams. Stream Train is the company’s first commercial multiplayer title, announced in July 2026.
The studio’s July announcement scheduled an external playtest for September 11–14, 2026, for selected participants. Invited players could bring up to four friends. Feedback was to be collected through a bug-report system, an in-game feedback form and the Steam Community Hub. In that announcement, co-founder and game director Max Wrighton wrote: “If you don’t get a chance to join the playtest, don’t worry, Stream Train will release on Steam October 15th 2026.” The live store date is now October 16.
Quick Recap
What to know before buying
- It is built around online teamwork, audience pressure and improvisation, not a conventional linear horror campaign.
- A microphone and headset are practical accessories for coordinating a six-person crew, although the published minimum specifications do not require specific streaming hardware.
- Procedural encounters and resource management give runs different problems, but the store information does not promise an unlimited campaign or a fixed number of stations.
- The game is available as a Steam PC download; no verified physical edition is listed.
