The Haier HRF510BHC is a 514L bottom-freezer fridge with a larger fresh-food section, a refillable water tank that needs no plumbing, and manufacturer-stated energy use of 285 kWh a year. Its clearest advantages are capacity and dispenser convenience; whether it cools especially evenly or keeps food fresher than competing models cannot be established from the independent test information currently public.
What the HRF510BHC offers
Haier Australia lists the HRF510BHC as a black-finish 500 Series bottom-freezer refrigerator. The total 514L capacity is divided into a 376L refrigerator and a 138L freezer, a 70:30 split that gives fresh food most of the space. These are manufacturer-published compartment figures, not an independent measurement of usable storage. Haier Australia’s product specifications describe the model and its equipment.
Inside, the listed features include two adjustable glass shelves, two fruit and vegetable bins with humidity control, and LED lighting. It also has a door alarm, frost-free freezer, inverter-controlled compressor, and Multi-Zone Air, Super Cooling and Super Freeze functions. Those names and features describe what Haier supplies; they do not establish how well the refrigerator performs in independent testing.

Does the water dispenser need plumbing?
No. The dispenser draws from an internal refillable water tank, so the fridge does not need a plumbed water connection. You will need to refill the tank yourself. The freezer also includes a manual twist ice maker and bin; this is separate from the water dispenser and is not an in-door ice dispenser.

How much space does it need?
Haier lists exterior dimensions of 1,725mm high × 790mm wide × 707mm deep. Those measurements describe the appliance, not the full cavity or delivery clearance required. A fridge can fit within the cabinet opening on paper and still lack the ventilation space, door-swing room or access needed for installation.
- Measure the cabinet opening and check the current installation guide for ventilation and clearance requirements.
- Measure the delivery route, including doorways, hallways and turns, rather than checking only the kitchen space.
- Confirm hinge orientation and any requirements for reversing the reversible door before delivery. The latest model manual should take precedence over general retailer guidance.
CHOICE classifies the model as a large bottom-freezer refrigerator, but the public model page does not provide a full installation assessment. Check CHOICE’s HRF510BHC page alongside Haier’s current documentation before deciding the cavity is suitable.

What are its stated energy figures?
Haier specifies a 5.5-star energy rating and annual consumption of 285 kWh. These are the product’s published figures, not a prediction of your electricity bill: the dollar cost depends on your tariff and actual use. The rating and consumption are listed on Haier’s product page.

CHOICE lists the HRF510BHC as tested in 2025 and confirms its 514L capacity, 5.5-star rating and 285 kWh/year figure. However, the expert rating and detailed results for temperature performance, freshness, noise and other test areas are restricted to members on the accessible page. The listing confirms that testing took place; it does not, by itself, show whether the fridge performed well or poorly. CHOICE’s model page sets out what is publicly available.

How does the warranty work?
Haier states that the HRF510BHC has a two-year manufacturer warranty covering parts and labour, followed by an additional 10-year parts-only warranty on the compressor. During that extended compressor period, the owner is responsible for labour costs; it is not a 12-year full-appliance warranty. Is the HRF510BHC a good fridge for your household?
It is worth considering if you want a large fresh-food compartment, a bottom-freezer layout and chilled water without connecting a water line. The 138L freezer is the smaller share of its total capacity, so households that prioritise frozen storage should compare compartment sizes rather than relying on the 514L headline total. The manual twist ice maker is an added freezer feature, not an automatic or door-mounted ice dispenser.

The main unresolved question is cooling performance: the publicly accessible CHOICE information does not reveal the detailed results needed to judge temperature stability, freshness or noise against alternatives. Haier’s feature descriptions are useful for understanding the equipment, but they are not a substitute for those measurements. Before buying, also confirm that the required clearances and delivery route work for your kitchen.
